MY EX, JARED IS HERE
“What d’ actual fvck??!!” Finn screamed when someone suddenly flung his door.
He was on only shorts, he quickly grabbed the duvet and covered himself.
“It's just me” Alex walked in, laughing.
Finn exhaled. “I thought it was Madison, she would knock, wait for my permission before entering my room. You should knock too before coming in” He scolded.
“It was me, your brother. It wasn't Madison!” Alex said.
“I was almost naked, why wouldn't you knocking? And what are you doing here?” Finn querried.
Alex smirked; “I arrived earlier at noon, slept off and I didn't know when you returned from work”
His brother gazed at him waiting for a proper explanation.
“Chill bro, I am leaving tomorrow” Alex retorted.
“So you have been under my roof, peeping on me and eavesdropping maybe” Finn chided.
“No” He responded bluntly.
“I told you I don't want surprise visits and it’s getting frequent these days. Alexander, you have a home and I never visited you often like you do” Finn continued to lambast even as he got off the bed and put on his trousers.
“How bad of you as a brother” Alex scowled dimly then added; “I am leaving tomorrow and I swear, you wouldn't see me anywhere close to this place”
“Why did you show up again then? You only just left few days ago”
“Uhn.. I… I want a favour from you”
“And it can't wait till tomorrow morning Alex? You don't have to barge into my room because you want me to help you with something” Finn hissed.
“I know you would still be awake by this time”
Finn whined then laid back on his bed and covered himself with the duvet. “I’m sleepy”“What is it?”
Alex smiled and sat on his bed, right beside his brother.
“Charles and I are beginning to get along only because he figured I'm wealthy” He resumed.
“Charles, Charles; “ Finn tried to recall the name. “Hold on, isn’t he the founder of kikachat you told me about?”
“Yes, the Internet god!”
Finn shook his head disappointedly, realising that his brother has come to talk about some internet stuff.
“But Charles said he will only work with me and help me out once he gets a white collar occupation”
“Alexander, why are you telling me this?” He asked incuriously.
“I… I want you to give him a job in your company” He responded discreetly.
Finn laughed hysterically.
“First, he is popular. He should be financially stable”
“I know right” Alex stared into the space and thought for a second.
“Charles is an anonymous celebrity, people do not know the face handling Kikachat. Just his business name known as Internet god”
I snickered: “Whatever. Do you think this is how I employ anyone into my big company?”
“Please Finn, do this for me. There’s a lot for me to gain from this guy” Alexander pleaded.
“Arrrgh!” Finn groaned in disturbance.
“You could just swipe through his certificate and CV and nod like you’re impressed then give him the Job” Alex suggested and Finn shook his head in disagreement.
“That's not how it's done"
"I know right. Pretty please"
"Just Inform Charles or whatever his name is to come to my office tomorrow morning. I will see what to do”
“Really? Great!” Alex threw at him a big hug. “I’ll come with him”
“You’re welcome” Finn mumbled, inconveniently disengaging himself from him.
“So could you please leave my room now?” Finn ordered, pointing the door.
“Sure, good night”
As soon as Alex walked out of the room.
Finn got on his feet, walked towards the door and bang it. He shut it.

I met Evelyn and her boyfriend at the reception, the enclosed office was right at the entrance. They seemed like they’ve been expecting my arrival, they beckoned onto me as soon as they sighted me.
“Oh finally, you are here Rita!” Evelyn drew nearer and interlocked her arm with mine.
“Are you okay? How was your discussion with Finn yesterday?” While Adam asked compassionately.
“I am…uhm fine. At least it ended well” We walked in together.
“The secretary sent for the three of us, we were waiting for you so we could go meet her together” Evelyn informed.
“Oh! I know why she sent for us” I beamed.
“Why?” They looked at themselves, puzzled.
“Come on, let’s go recieve the good news together” I held their hands, side by side.

We received our letters at the secretarial office and opened them on our way back to the department while we walked slugghly. I knew exactly what mine entailed so I wasn't really anxious to open it. I was so excited.
I watched them unsealed the envelope curiously, unfolded the letter in it and they read through the sheet at the same time. Evelyn was the first to scream joyfully. She jumped on her boyfriend, then embraced me too.
“Take a look, take a look Rita” She showed me the letter
“Congratulations baby girl” I applauded without reading through the letter because I felt I knew what was already written there since Finn told me yesterday.
“I have been transferred to an office with a fat salary!” She exclaimed.
“What?” I squeaked. “I.. I meant congratulations, I am very happy for you” I said, then quickly unsealed mine to check what’s in there for me.
Evelyn was so excited and loud that colleagues who overheard congratulated her and wished they got the same opportunity.
My letter says the same thing, I'll work as the Operating Officer and Evelyn will be my assistant. I was very satisfied and glad that he transferred my friend although he never concluded that he will. But he did it for me.
“Same here” I showed them my letter.
“Congratulations to you too, more greater wins together” Evelyn and I had a high five and jubilated.
“Congratulations to you guys” Adam finally uttered, frowning a little.
“What about you?” Evelyn asked.
She snatched the letter from him and skimmed through.
“You are getting a fat salary too” She said and frowned too. “You weren't promoted”
“Well it is still great, you will be receiving almost the same amount as what he offered us” Evelyn cheered.
“I know right” He smiled disdainfully.
“Congratulations Adam” I said.
“You both are leaving. We wouldn't be in the same department and at the same time, he has separated us and broken our intimacy” Adam stated.
“Come on Adam, we have lunch break, closing hours and even before work resume, we can come together again”
“Evelyn, it won't be like before” He complained.
“Oh you’re saying? We should turn down this huge offer?” Evelyn fired.
“Well, I know why Finn offered us this opportunity. I know why he is literally breaking this clique” He replied.
“Why?” Evelyn and I asked simultaneously, raising our brows.
“He hates me as much as I do” Adam answered.
‘Adam! We are not gonna talk about this again. Why are you so grumpy! Why?” She hissed and held my hand. “Come Rita, let’s go move our stuff to the new office”
“Sure” I replied.
“Oh My God! This is similar to freedom” She jumped up while we walked away, happily chitchatting about the new job and leaving Adam behind.
We have only taken few steps away when we sighted two guys coming in.
I was shocked to see him, I stopped walking, made Evelyn stop too.
They passed by us and headed towards Finn’s office. I watched them till they were beyond my sight.
“What is it Rita? Do you know them?” Evelyn asked when she noticed I was staring at them.
“Yes, that.. that’s Jared!” I stuttered.
“Jared?”
“Jared, my ex” I responded.
