Olivia's pov:
The place was dark and cold. My body felt numb. A loud beeping sound filled the air, and I could hear a few murmurs coming from the front.
I tossed my head from left to right once my eyes became sensitive to a bright light that was cast onto my face.
I stretched my hands only to find some resistance and a slight plastic sound.
My eyes opened up but squinted immediately as a huge surgery lamp was right above me.
I scanned the room I was in. I was laid down on a white bed which was surrounded by various machines that were beeping at intervals.
A blank tv was screwed at the top of the wall near the huge door that was closed.
I tried to lift my hand again but was met with resistance. I looked at my hand and noticed an IV drip needle was poked right into my vein.
I didn't know how on earth I reached a hospital room.
My head hurt as I tried to recall what happened last.
Bits and pieces of memory started to arrange themselves in my mind like a jigsaw puzzle.
And that's when I remembered that Jessica and I had got hit by a golf cart.
It was really strange how that cart was going in such a high speed.
I shook my head and looked around the room but couldn't find Jessica anywhere. I just hoped that she was ok and was receiving medical treatment like me.
The room's door opened gently with a click of the lock and a man dressed in a light blue long-sleeved dress shirt with a pair of navy-blue suit pants, with a white coat, black leather shoes and a black tie.
He flipped through some pages from his notepad before lifting his face up to me.
"Hey Olivia! How are you? My name's Dr Ryan" he said while extending his hand forward to shake mine.
I extended my weak arm and shook his hand. I felt a sharp pain as the doctor shook my hand a bit too tight. Then again what was I expecting? The guy's biceps were huge!
"Glad you and your friend are ok!" he smiled.
"Jessica? Where is she?" I asked frantically.
"Calm down, she is stable and resting in the next room." he assured.
My mind was so confuzzled! Was this an accident? Or did someone do this on purpose?
I needed answers so I quickly asked Dr Ryan if he knew anything about the situation.
"The person who drove the golf cart over you and your friend was immediately fired from the job. He was apparently drunk while driving the cart."
I was about to ask another question when suddenly the door burst open with Nikita entering in along with Jack!
I was stunned to see the both of them here but was glad to see their faces.
Unlike Jack, Nikita rushed in to give me a tight hug while voicing out the concerns she had for me while I was getting treated by the doctors.
I was so happy that Nikita had a smile on her face, and it seemed that she forgave me regarding the earlier incident.
At that point, Dr Ryan walked towards Jack and patted him on his shoulder and said, "Olivia! You should thank this young man for saving your life!"
"What?" I said while giving out a confused look to the doctor.
"When you arrived at the hospital, you lost a lot of blood! And Jack was the one who donated some of his blood to you." the doctor clarified.
I gave a subtle smile to Jack. That indeed was really sweet of him to do. I did not expect him to do such a thing.
Could this gesture answer my question? It should've! And I really wanted it to.
But for some reason, I wasn't a hundred percent sure. My gut was telling me that something was wrong, but what?
Nikita wrapped her hand around mine very tightly while giving me a disappointing look.
"What's the matter?" I asked.
She turned her head towards Jack until they were able to make eye contact for a few seconds.
"Olivia, I wanted to tell you something disturbing." she announced, leaving me very shocked.
"Guys, what's wrong?" I asked when I noticed all three of them had their heads lowered to the ground.
Silence engulfed the room until Nikita came forward and spoke up, "Sam doesn't care about you at all."
I grabbed the bed sheet in anger. What she told me wasn't something new. But she knew about this so why is she repeating this in front of Jack?!
I looked over at Jack who seemed to have an extremely sad look on his face.
Dr Ryan stepped ahead and elaborated on Nikita's statement, "Sam was the one who got you and Jessica to the hospital. I knew you both were in need of blood! I asked Sam whether he could donate his blood to anyone of you as he couldn't possibly donate so much blood in a day."
"What did he say? And wasn't Jack the one to give me blood?" I asked out of curiosity.
"Yes, but when Sam got you both here, he came in alone. The injuries you both sustained made it a life-or-death situation. So, Sam had to choose between Jessica and you!"
I gulped as my body tensed up. I knew what Sam's decision was. So, I finished the doctor's sentence for him, "Sam chose Jessica, right?"
The doctor made eye contact with me and he looked very sorry for me.
I wouldn't blame him. My life was on the verge of collapsing!
"Not only did he refuse to save you without any hesitation, but he also didn't even bother to find a donor for you" the doctor added.
This had to be a bad dream. Why would Sam hate me so much that he wouldn't even bother to find me a donor?
Are these really what things have come to?
