Olivia's pov:
The sun was starting to set as time passed. The sky was painted in an abstract yellow and orange colour. The birds were chirping and flying right above us before disappearing into the distance. It was a very peaceful environment that sadly I could have felt!
I was desperate to go back to the resort at that point. My body was tired from all the unfortunate incidents of the day! But we were still stuck with no transportation!
The mom told her kid to go around and play with his friends. They grabbed a hold of each other's hands and ran away from the area, laughing as they went!
While the kids were busy playing amongst themselves, the dad and the mom took us to one side to talk. I was a bit worried of what she was about to do next.
She started to talk under her breathe, "Are you two really lost here? Huh? You guys are not telling us any lies, right?"
Sam and I aggressively nodded and indicated our desperation to return to the the resort. I was hoping that our actions were enough to prove that we were not liars and kidnappers!
The mom, who was named Karen, whispered something in her husband's ear while looking at us from the corner of her eye. The silence that draped the area became very uncomfortable for Sam and I. Being accused of being a kidnapper was the worst thing ever!
A minute or two passed when the two of them finally finished discussing and turned their heads to us. I gulped when our eyes came into contact. The dad especially had a very serious look to his face that made me quite nervous.
"We will help you guys reach your resort!" they said together in one voice, breaking the awkward silence around us.
I was over the moon when I heard this! I was jumping with joy! Quite literally! The kidnapper accusation was finally gone, and we were getting help to get away from this place! I could barely contain my excitement.
My eyes landed on Sam to see him smiling at me with his dreamy eyes. I leaned a bit closer to him and felt his steamy breath.
I wanted to ask Sam something but that was when Karen started explaining her plan to help us at that moment. I got cut off from my contact with Sam and lowered my head.
Karen started telling us what her plan was! She said that she would drive us all the way back to the resort while her husband stays with the kids.
That sounded pretty good! I was so excited to reach the resort that I could not bear to spend another minute in this area which pretty much was the middle of nowhere. I was so grateful that they were arranging transportation for us for free!
This was the first act of kindness that I experienced in a while.
Karen walked away while her husband started heading towards the kids who were playing in a small area near us.
A few minutes later, I heard the noise of a vehicle approaching us! I turned my head to my side and saw Karen bring out her grey coloured van! Seeing a vehicle made me so happy like I saw a million dollars right in front of me!
We hoped in Karen's van and sat ourselves down onto the slightly dusty seats.
Karen smiled as she waved to her husband and kids while sitting in the driver's seat.
Sam and I jammed ourselves at the back as it was a pretty small van. I did not mind the compact space as I was eager to get away from this hell on earth.
The journey back was a lot of fun! Karen was an amazing person. We talked a lot about each other while Sam tried to keep himself out of our conversations. Karen, however ensured that Sam would pitch into the conversation by keeping on insisting him to speak up.
I had a couple of laughs as I saw that happening even though I felt so distant from Sam! He was so close yet so far from me.
Soon as the moon took over the sun and shed its light amidst the darkness, we were finally able to reach the resort, just in time for dinner!
We thanked Karen for her generosity as she drove off to return to her family.
This was the first act of kindness I had witnessed since arriving to Australia and I couldn't be any happier. There really should be more people like her in the world and less of people like Sam Oscar!
I was confident to say that my fate in humanity was restored after this experience.
Neither Sam nor I decided to go and freshen up but instead rushed to the buffet to fill our growling stomachs.
It felt like it was ages since I last saw food.
Upon arrival at the dining room, I grabbed a plate and began stacking an array of dishes on it.
The only downside of this was to witness some people giving me weird looks but I could not care any less.
The entire atmosphere of the dining area was so calm with some instrumental music being played in the speakers above on the ceiling and peoples' laughter and chats filling the air.
As I was walking around in search for a seat, I was finally able to see an empty table with two chairs next to it! I was relieved to have found it and approached it to sit down and have my meal.
But as I was pulling the chair to sit on it, a man quickly bumped me, causing me to go away from the chair! He placed his dinner plate on the white clothed table and placed himself on the chair.
I became frustrated and was about to call out this man for his rude behavior when I was completely not surprised when I saw who he really was.
I took a good look at his face and you guessed it! It was Sam!
"You wanted something?" he asked while giving me a smirk.
I seriously wondered how Jack and Jessica ever put up with this guy for years. He was so ANNOYING!
"Excuse me, I was about to sit there!" I spoke with a loud tone in my voice. I was tired and hungry! On top of all that, I had to deal with this guy!
"So? You were 'about' to sit here, but I have already sat here!" he played smart with me. His smile was the cherry on the top!
I left his presence as soon as possible as I was too hungry to deal with him.
Luckily, I was able to find a table far away from Sam and would be able to eat in peace and quiet.
But before I could sit down and munch on my delicious feast, Jack and Nikita approached me.
They looked quite dumbstruck when they met me! I had no idea what was going on in their heads!
"Hey guys!" I initiated the conversation while Nikita rubbed her eyes and took a good look at me.
"Where have you been?! We were almost going to call the cops!" Jack yelled.
"I-" I got interrupted immediately by an anxious Jack!
"Tell me everything! Now!" he demanded while being super worried about me.
I was too hungry to explain the entire situation to the both of them, but I reluctantly did so by making them sit down at the table. I did not want them to be worried any longer and Jack did not give me much of an option!
So, I started to let them know the events of the day one by one.
As I was done explaining the situation to them, the both of them had very different expressions on their faces.
While Jack looked happy and had a smile on his face, Nikita still looked confused. Which also confused me since I expected opposite reactions from them!
"Thank goodness you are saved! I was so worried!" Jack mentioned.
I felt a bit peaceful knowing someone at least cared about me. It was nice to hear that. I smiled at Jack while I placed my hands-on top of Nikita's hands. I looked closely at her troubled looking face.
"Is something wrong Nikita?" I asked in a subtly concerned voice.
She looked at me with her eyes wide open. However, she changed her expression almost immediately.
"Nothing! I just take time to process all of this information!" she started to scratch her head.
This time, she looked relieved that I was safe and sound.
Both of them gave me a hug and we were glad that the drama of the day was over. I was the happiest!
We ate dinner together while I glanced at Sam and Jessica doing the same together. I could not stop my eyes the entire time from landing on Sam's face as he too took a few glances at me in between a few bites of his dinner.
I had no idea what was going on, but one thing was for sure! At that point, I was very curious to know how Jack felt about me. After noticing a completely different attitude as compared to Sam and Jessica about me, I knew Jack did not feel the same way about me, but I needed confirmation from him. I needed to hear it from his mouth.
After stuffing myself to my content, I got up from my table after saying goodnight to Jack and Nikita.
I walked out of the dining area in a very sleepy mood and went back to my room to freshen up for bed as it was a long day.
I showered and slid into my pajamas and went out to my balcony to take one last look at the beautiful beach in the night sky before falling off to sleep.
As I was admiring the beauty of nature, I noticed Jack sitting on a rock on the beach.
I squinted to take a closer look and clarify that it was indeed Jack! It turned out to be him! I was curious to know what he was doing there so late at night, so I decided to go and meet him.
Still wearing my pajamas, I locked my room's door and left to go to the beach which was not far away from my room.
The cold wind of the night made me shiver and regret not wearing a thick comfy jacket. My ears were filled with the comforting sound of the waves crashing against the shore. Nature really is a wonder.
While sneezing a couple of times, I approached Jack who looked disturbed.
Without uttering a word, I sat down on the same wide rock next to him.
I cleared my throat to get his attention but that did not work! He did not turn his face to me at all and continued to stare into the dark night sky!
He seemed to be thinking about something very deeply, but what?
