Olivia's pov:
The wind slowly howled as it blew across my face, pushing some of my hair onto my face.
I had to blink a couple of times to confirm whether I was looking at the right person. Everyone stood still at their places and it felt as if time had froze.
I turned my face towards Jack who didn't seem to have any sort of reaction to what I had just saw.
Out of the car, I had witnessed Erica Wayne, the CEO of YouTube step out. She approached the building in a stylish manner with black sunglasses blocking the extreme sunlight outside the shade of the building.
I was so confused! Everything felt so weird but I had no clue why!
Behind her stood Ruby, her assistant who would always be by her side at events. I didn't really know much about her but I found it strange that she just stood behind the open car door instead of walking with Erica towards me.
I was so confused by what was going on. Why was such a busy and well known person doing here? And why did she not react shocked when she saw me tied up here?
"Hello Olivia!" she said with her deep red lip sticked lips widening to form a smile.
I did not respond but just looked at her in awe. She placed her mini black purse onto a piece of concrete and loosened up her hair.
Her hair shined with the harsh sun at the back of her.
"Confused?" she asked as she pouted her lips. It looked as if she was trying to mock me. But why?
There were so many questions flooding my mind but I did not convey any of them as the amount of surprises really shocked me.
She leaned forward and lowered her head to look at me in the eyes. She titled her head a bit and looked at Jack and laughed, "Good job Jack! We got her right where we needed!"
A faint "what" escaped my lips as I narrowed my eyebrows and looked at Jack and Erica back and forth for a moment.
"Oh baby girl, you really think your so innocent, don't you?" she asked, this time with a more aggressive voice.
It was truly shocking to see the sudden change in tone in her.
"Do you not recall anything that you did to me?" she asked while tilting her head towards the left.
I tried to go back in time mentally to try and figure out what she was trying to say but I failed to do so. I couldn't recollect any major negative experiences I had with Erica. I don't think I ever did anything untoward towards her.
"I—I th-think there is some...misunderstanding." I struggled to say. I wasn't thinking straight and my mind was full of fear.
She scoffed at me and stood straight, taking her face away from mine. She started walking slowly a bit away from me but continued to talk.
"March 2018, the month after YouTube experienced multiple errors with the systems under my leadership."
"Rings any bells in your head?" she added.
When Erica mentioned that date, I remembered the awful times we, creators, were in. We didn't get paid for weeks while some didn't receive their pay check for even a whole month. Our livelihoods were at stake. People were confused how they would go about making ends meet.
With that date in mind, I channeled myself back in time to see what I had done. Slowly, bits and pieces of memories started placing themselves in order and I was able to recollect what I had done on Twitter.
Was that why she looked angry? Me calling her out on Twitter for her obvious mistakes?
I was not the type of person to nag someone on their mistakes. We are all human and to err is human. But when you do not acknowledge that mistake or try to disregard it especially when the matter deals with finances of hardworking people, of course I would feel the need to call that person out.
Then again, did she really keep that grudge for 2 whole years?
Now I was able to understand why Erica was present at this scene but Jack? What was Jack's involvement in this? I had never spoken anything negative towards him.
Before I could question Jack, I noticed something very strange on Erica. I focused my eyes at her ring finger and was shocked to see a ring that looked exactly the same as the murderer's ring!
Was Erica the murderer?
Tears started gathering at the corners of my eyes. My eyes popped and I looked at Erica with disgust.
"D-d-did y-y-you k-.....kill my fam-family?" I asked stuttering all the way.
She looked at me with a smile that stretched towards the right side of her face and immediately later started clicking her tongue.
"No"
"But I do know who did....." she added with excitement dominant in her tone.
My face turned blue and it felt like I was being drowned in an ocean. Erica knew who killed my family this whole time? But why? What's the connection?
Just then, Erica stepped aside and a shadow began walking towards me.
Who was that?
I turned my head towards Erica trying to free myself from the knots that restricted my movement but couldn't.
Soon, I was able to identify the man that appeared and stood besides Erica. Their heads leaned in close and they exchange a kiss with each other.
The guy was none other than Michale Wayne! Erica's husband! I had seen him quite a number of times during Erica's interviews on TV!
The first thing I immediately did was scan his ring finger. And to my utter shock, he wore the same exact ring. I swallowed the saliva gathered at the back of my throat while tears kept flowing down my cheeks. They also dragged my mascara along with them.
"Shocking isn't it? My husband single handedly murdered your entire family and fled your apartment's useless security so easily." she exclaimed as she laughed like a monster and with evil eyes.
