XXXVII
When she found out that I'm staying at Liam's, Amber came knocking on his door immediately, so now we were all in Liam's bedroom, eating pizza.
Liam's parents were really nice and didn't complicate about anything, welcoming me in their home.
I told Liam and Amber what happened and they listened.
"But how could he afford the necklace?" Liam asked and I shrugged.
"He said he got some money on the trip."
"The trip about which he didn't tell you anything. I don't know, Soph, this is all so weird." he said and Amber nodded.
"You better find out because this drama of yours is really starting to get mysterious and I want answers. It's like when you're reading a book and you need answers and you want to skip to the last page, but you can't because the author hasn't finished it yet." she says.
I swallow my bite of pizza. "Except that this is real life, not a book."
She nods.
"I really need you to not say anything to Axel about where I am, okay? It'd be horrible if he came here." I say.
"Okay, I promise." Amber replies and gets off Liam's bed, wiping her mouth.
"I gotta go, muchacos. I promised auntie that I'll be home by six. Have fun!" she says, already out the door.
I look at Liam, smiling.
He smiles back and I begin to put what was left of pizza on his desk.
"How's your mystery girl doing?" I ask him while cleaning up.
His room is all messy and it's driving me nuts. I pick his clothes from the floor and put them in the laundry basket he has in the corner of the room. "Not really great. She still doesn't know that I like her." he says.
"Well, maybe if you told me, I could help." I offer, trying to trick him into telling me.
He shakes his head. "No, stop trying to pull it out of me." he says, chucking and I sigh.
"Okay, I will. But someday you will tell me." I say, sitting on the bed next to him and pull out my phone, turning it on.
Immediately, the notifications begin to pop up.

"Damn." Liam whispers, looking at my phone. "He's really persistent, isn't he?"
I nod. "Yep." and put my phone away, forcing myself not to look at his messages. "Should we watch a movie or something?" I ask and he smirks.
"Not Harry Potter." I say immediately when I see that smirk.
His smirk slowly fades. "Why not?"
"Because that's what we watch every single time, Liam. How about Dumb and Dumber?" I ask and he purses his lips.
"Fine." he says and gets his laptop, setting on the movie.
We end up watching the first movie and then the sequel, laughing like two mental people.
When the second movie is starting to end, my eyes get heavier and heavier and before I realize it, I'm asleep. I snuggle up to my best friend in sleep and that's how we pass out, with the laptop lit up and fully dressed.

I'm awakened by the sound of steps and multiple voices coming from inside the house.
I open my eyes, frowining in confusion as to what could be going on, especially since it's still dark outside. Liam groans and opens his eyes, looking at me and I look back at him.
"What is going on?" he asks, and his answer comes less than a second later.
Axel stumbles into the room, loudly, with Liam's parents behind him.
He frowns. "What the fuck are you 'oing in bed with m' girl?" he slurrs and I know, he's drunk.
He takes sloppy steps towards us and I quickly stand up.
"If you don't leave this house now, I'll call the police!" Liam's dad shouts and I start to panic.
"Shut the fuck up." Axel asks and goes to grab Liam, but I block him, grabbing his arm to stop him from doing something even more stupid.
"No, please don't call the police." I beg his parents. "I can't say how sorry I am that he came here, we'll leave right away."
Liam's mum looks scared and shook, standing behind his dad, who looks mad. I grab my phone and purse and begin to drag Axel after me, out of Liam's room. I'm beyond ashamed, how could he do this.
"I'll kill him." Axel says, glaring at Liam and I gulp.
"Shut up, Axel, please, let's just leave." I say and turn to Liam.
"I'm so sorry Liam, I wouldn't come if I knew this would happen." I apologize and he shakes his head.
"It's okay, we should've known that a psyco like him would do this." he says, glaring at Axel.
He tries to lurge at Liam, but Liam's dad grabs his arm, stopping him. Axel goes to hit him, but because he's drunk, he thankfully misses.
I gasp and pull him with me with more force.
"I'n really sorry about this." I say again and manage to drag Axel towards the doors and get him out of the house. As soon as I close the door behind me, I push Axel away from me.
He stumbles back, but I continue to hit his chest repeatedly.
"You fucking asshole!" I shout, tears beginning to form in my eyes. "What is wrong with you?!"
He takes a sloppy step back from me to try to stop me from hitting him, but I continue to hit his chest.
"What's 'ong with me?! I 'ucking found you in a bed with someone else!" he slurs, shouting at me.
"He's my best friend!" I shout. "You had no right to barge in like that! Drunk!"
"Well what the fuck else was I 'possed to do?! You didn't call me back, you left! You didn't let me 'xplain!"
I look at him in disgust. "Of course I left, I saw you kissing another girl! Why can't you understand that I just needed a break!"
"You don't want to be with me anymore?" Axel asks, with a much softer voice, like he's hurt.
"We're not fucking together!" I scream and turn away from him, taking quick steps away from him.
It's dark and I don't know where I'm going, but I can't stand being with him.
"Where 'ou goin?! Wait, fuck!" Axel slurs and starts to come after me. I stop my steps and quickly take off my shoe, throwing it at his head. He ducks and the shoe misses him.
"Stop fucking following me!" I shout and send the other shoe in his direction.
This one hits him in his chest and I lift my head up in triumph, before turning away from him.
"You're walking in the wrong d'rection! You'll freez out here if you don't 'isten to me! Don't be an idiot!" he continues to scream and I turn on my heels, glaring at him and walking in the other direction of the street, grabing my shoes meanwhile.
He hurries after me, a deep frown on his face.
"Could you slow down?!" he asks.
"No!" I shout and continue to take large steps.
"You're acting like a fucking child!" he shouts after me, somehow managing to follow me in his drunken state.
"Oh, I'm acting like a child?! Then you're acting like a fucking baby!" I shout, beyond furious at him.
"I'm so embarrased for what you did!" I say.
"Well I'm pissed the fuck off that I found you in his bed, with him!" he slurs with his deep voice.
"At least you didn't find me kissing him!" I scream and stop walking, glaring at him.
"She kissed me, fuck! There was nothing I could 'ucking do!" he shouts.
"I know!" I scream, jumping in anger. "I just needed time to process it!"
"Why couldn't you 'ocess it without ignoring me?!"
"Because I can't think straight when I'm with you!"
Then, a light in one of the houses in front of which we're arguing, swiches on, and a loud voice booms:"Just fuck already and leave the rest of us to get some fucking sleep!"
I blush like crazy and glare at Axel, before turning around and walking away from him.
He follows without a word, simply giving me directions in which to go, and ten minutes later we're in front of his house.
Thank God we live in such a small town.
"Are you coming in?" Axel asks.
"Yes." I bark. "But only because I'm too damn tired to walk all the way back to my house."
He nods.
"I'm still pissed at you." I say.
"You're always pissed at me." he replies and his face turns into a slightly sadder expression.
"You don't like me. But, you know, I like you." he slurrs, swaying on his feet, still drunk.
I gulp. "Just open the goddamned door, Axel." I try to change the topic, because I will break if he doesn't stop.
"I like you, didn't you hear me?" he repeats, louder, grabbing me by my shoulders.
"I heard you!" I shout, closing my eyes, tight.
"You have nothing to say back?" he pushes, his expression even sadder.
"You're drunk." I say, Axel stepping back from me like I hit him.
His eyes look a little broken in that moment and I hate myself for hurting him.
"Wow." he says, swaying back on his feet before his expression turns into one of anger. "You know, I don't like you, actually. I hate you." he whispers and it cuts right into my core, breaking me apart on the inside.
"I don't fucking like you, I fucking hate you!" he shouts coming closer to me.
"I never asked you to came into my life, you just decided to barge in and make me like this. I was fine before!" he rambles on. "I was fucking fine, do you hear me?! Before you came and fucked it all up!"
I feel tears streaming down my face and I crumble to the floor.
"I hate you!" Axel repeats from above me and I see him punch his door. He leans his head on the door, breathing heavily. "You fucked it all up, Sophie. Just get the fuck away from my porch." he says, his final goodbye.
I gather all my strength and what's left of my dignity, standing up on my feet and quietly begin to walk away, tears on my face.
