Maryam's POV
"Hey!" I said shyly.
"Morning beautiful....you look beautiful.
"Thank you"
"So, shall we?" he asked opening the passenger door for me.
"What a gentle man" I uttered.
"Only for you beautiful" he said winking.
Khalid have been driving for the past twenty minutes now and we still haven't reach our destination.
"Khalid, where exactly are we going to? " i asked but he wink at me instead.
"Hey! will you stop that. I'm someone else's wife! Are you trying to flirt with me?". I joke but he suddenly step on the car break.
"Did you just say someone else's wife?! Maryam, how could you call that idiot a husband! He doesn't respect you, nor does he deserves you! And you still consider him your husband?".
What's wrong with him? Why is he taking my issue personally? Though, Kareem had been hurting me a lot, but he's still my husband.
"Kha-"
"I'm sorry, I've said too much. I've forgotten, I don't have the right to talk to you in such manner. After all, he's still your husband and also my best friend. I'm sorry, I just... I just hate the way he has been treating you.
"Hey it's fine. You know, I'm truly happy and fortunate to have someone like you in my life. You've tried to be always there for me and I appreciate you for that. You know, apart from my Dad, you're the only man I would ever feel secured around with.".
"Really?!"
"Mmmm". I hummed.
"Good! There's no point in telling you where we're going to then". He smirk and ignite the car engine.
I decide to keep my mouth shut and allow him to focus on the road.

"Khalid, why have you brought me to the park?"
"Because, I want you to have fun day today. You're so easy to read Maryam, like an open book. You neither come out of your house nor do anything, you're always indoor. So I decide to bring you here. You can forget all of your past for the moment and enjoy your day."
"Thank you so much Khalid" I said as I feel the threatening tears that were about to drop.
"Hey! Don't even dare! I never brought you here for that".

We talked about so many things, i told him everything about my past, how aunty had tortured me and how Kareem had been treating me.
I was so scared at first, when he had this dangerous look on his face but he later composed himself. I breathed out the air I don't know I've been holding in.
He also told me everything about himself, how his dad left his mom and run away with another woman. He studied and work hard to take care of his mother and now, he was among the youngest billionaire in the country.
"I'm so proud of you, at least you got to do something for your self unlike me"
"Do you really have to be with him? " he blurt out of the blue.
"Huh?!"
"I said, do you really have to be with him?". He asked.
"What... What do you mean?"
"You're beautiful Maryam. To be honest with you, you don't deserve all what you've been going through and that's why Kareem don't deserve you".
" Are you happy with him? Does he make you happy? No, you're not! Thousands of men are out there, and would be glad to have you as a wife. Respect you, love you and care for you. A man who's dying to be with you". He said but I couldn't help it as I burst into a laughter.
"A man is out there dying to be with me? No man is ready to be with me Khalid. I'm jinxed Khalid! Well, according to everyone that's what I'm. No one cares about me, even if there's, it's only few".
"Then I'm among those who cares for you Maryam. There's a man who's ready to show you what true love is, who's ready to make you happy, who's ready to make you his woman, who's ready to respect you and shows you proudly to the whole world that you're his!". He said as he took hold of my hands and wrap them in his. I looked at him then to our tangled hands.
This is haram. I might have like him and feel secured around him but not this close. He's neither my brother nor is he my husband.
He apologized the moment I untangle our hands. "I'm sorry Maryam" he said sincerely and I smiled.
"Erm Khalid, it getting dark, don't you think we should leave?"
"Yeah, sure" he said as we both stood to our feet and left the park.
On our way going back home in his car, we were both singing and laughing together, I couldn't believe I would be this happy. It been long I had felt this way.
"Wow! You really do have a sweet voice". He said.
"Thank you and so as you too" I told him and he smiled. A heart warming one.
We were now outside Mr Rude husband's house. He hopped down before I could and open the car door for me.
"Thank you"
"Anything for you beautiful" he said bowing down a little which made me laugh in return.
"Thank you so much for today Khalid, you really made my day, I've never thought there would be a day I'd ever be this happy, I wish this could continue forever."
"At your service beautiful, I'm always here for you, any time.... any moment. I could start from now. Take you to somewhere peaceful." He smirked.
"Like seriously!"
"I'm -". He was cut off by a hard punch someone throws at his face and he stumbled on the floor.
I wide my eyes in shock and turned to the person, only to find out it was non other than Kareem.
"What are you doing?!". I asked glaring at him. He ignores my question as he was busy glaring at his friend on the floor. I went to him and help him up.
"Are you alright? " I asked him.
"I'm fine beautiful ". He assured me smiling.
I take a sharp look at Kareem, but he wasn't looking my way, he was still glaring angrily at Khalid.
What's really wrong with him?
He would throw another fist of punch on his face then I come in between them. "Don't you dare". I told him in a waring tone, his face softened all of a sudden when his eyes came in contact with mine.
He separated my hand away from Khalid's hand and gave him a dangerous look.
I mouth 'I'm sorry, will call you' to Khalid. He smiled and wink at me before he enters his car, ignite the engine and drove away.
Such a gentle man!
