Chapter Six
Maryam's POV
"Well Mr. Rude Husband, if I'm uncomfortable.... It would be very nice if you should be uncomfortable too" I said before I finally got up from the bed.
I put on my blue hijab, slippers and walk out of the room.
"Now, where's his office?" I asked myself in a whisper. Finally, I noticed a door slightly open and a little light penetrating from there. I first peep in and I saw him where he stood in front of a shelf full of books right behind his huge table and chair. He held a book in his hand, flipping through the pages one after the other studying them so intensively. He looks so engrossed in it. Wait a minute!....was he still putting on his white kaftan since morning? I'm sure that's the cloth.
He turned once to look at something on his table before turning his attention back to the book he was going through, and his look was still as cold as ever. He was always cold and he looked busy.... This is great timing Maryam. It will be easy for you to frustrate him.
"Wow! I must say" I started as I walk in and stopped in front of his table.
"You've got a nice place here," I told him as I crossed my arms and the most annoying part is that I was right. This place was beautiful.
He immediately shut the books in his hands and raise his head to look at me. "What are you doing here? " he asked as coldly as ever.
"I don't know.... I asked myself the same question anytime I'm seeing your face" I told him with all my courage but deep down I was scared. What if he beat me up again? You need to do this Maryam.
I walk around taking a look at every corner. "I couldn't sleep so, I decided to come and pay a visit to my husband who had left me to myself as soon as we got here....At least, I had expected 'Maryam have you eaten? What will you have? Are you okay?...'. You know, act a little bit caring since we are on our homey moon" I stretch on the word honeymoon.
Really! I wonder where you got all this courage from.
"But anyway, that's an old talk" I blurted. Great Maryam! could you please tell me where you got all this courage from?
That's because I made a promise to myself this morning, all the suffering and hardship I've been going through since my childhood had to stop. Neither would I allow aunty nor will I let Kareem treat me this way again. Enough is enough! After all, I'm human.
I gently laid on the sofa with my legs on top as well, I took a look at him and he still had the same look. How could a person have the same look every day? No reaction, No expressions. Nothing.. Nothing..... That's so weird.
"Maryam, this is not working.... Try something else" I told myself.
I yawned as I stretch my hand above my head. "I'm bored," I told him, he took steps forward, and drop the book in his hand to the table before walking towards me.
"Get up and leave" he ordered as soon as he stood in front of me.
"And if I refuse?" I challenged him. I, Maryam challenging Kareem Abdulazeez!
"Get up" he grabbed my wrist to raise me forcefully.
"Stop" I warned him as I struggle to get out of his tight grip.
"I thought you said you wouldn't touch me again? Well, are you taking advantage of the situation now?" I asked. He stopped for a second and stared at me in a way that if look could kill I would have been dead by now. He slowly let go of my wrist and took a step backward. I rub my poor wrist and gently lay back.
"Okay, why don't I just lay there for some time till I'm sleepy? then I'll leave. It's lonely and boring in my room".
"No, I'm very busy and I don't want any distraction"
"So you do admit that I'm attractive? I'm so attractive that you wouldn't be able to focus on your work if I'm here?"
"No!"
"No?.... But you just said it. Okay, prove it then... Let me stay here" I told him not knowing whether this is going to work. He was silent for a while as he gives me a deadly glare. The worst part is that he never left his cool zone.
What's happening? I was expecting a different side of him.
He suddenly takes a step closer and bent a little bit as he drew closer and closer. "W.... What are you doing?" I asked him.
"Do all that you can, have as much fun as you can, very soon I'll gladly be the one watching you suffer!". He whispered in my ear that I could feel his hot breath on my face, which sends strange shivers down my spine. He gently drew away before he turned and walked back to his table. He took his seat and continue with his work.
Wait, what just happened? Did I win?
"I won! I seriously won!....... One point for me" I squeal inside happily.
