Nate's POV
Seeing the scowl on Tory's face just made my day. I relaxed on my seat, knowing the last thing to be talked about would be the most boring.
" Does anyone have an idea of how the fundraiser will go or should we just stick with a football match where you guys lose to another school for charity?" Mr. Alvarez asked before he burst into fits of laughter and Mrs. Donovan joined him.
I didn't care, our school always loses at such events because I and the good players never showed. There's no way we were gonna play a game and get nothing in return.
I'd prefer that they do it again this year, I won't be playing, Mr. Roswell is gonna go for a vacation the week of the fundraiser so, I would gladly miss the damn fundraiser.
" Well, I suppose we could just do that then?"
Just when I was basking in the euphoria of going on a man's vacation with Mr. Roswell. Tory raised her hand, smirking as she looked at me. What the hell is she up to?
" Sir, I have a MUCH better idea" she said as she clasped her hands and smiled sweetly... That's a bad sign Nate, she's up to no good.
" Alright Tory" Mr. Jenkins said flashing her a smile - what a man whore, I bet he wouldn't mind fucking her if he got the chance. Piece of shit.
" Okay, in time past, I've noticed so much apathy for the fundraiser every year, even I have been guilty. But actually, it's because the means for raising the money is seen as boring for students" she said and Mr. Jenkins rubbed his mustache and pursed his lips as he took what Tory said into consideration.
" How do you mean?"
" Okay, for about say two years now, the school has been organizing football matches for fundraisers but our star players never show and we all know that there's no way anyone would look forward to something like that" she said, with a sigh that I knew she was faking. What an actress?!
" So what do you suggest?" Mr Jenkins asked, damn he looked so invested in whatever she had to say.
" First of all, an event that students would be unable to resist and in order to do that, certain people NEED to be there. So, attendance should be compulsory"
" She's making sense" Mrs. Donovan said and Mr. Jenkins nodded, a smile on his face.
" I don't think attendance should be compulsory. I think that it should be a voluntary thing" I said.
" Well Einstein, if most people think the event sucks that means fewer funds" Tory said rolling her eyes.
" She's right, I agree." Dory said and I knew there and then that my vacation was doomed.
" So Tory what's gonna be the event then?" A boy asked and I just gritted my teeth in anger. Couldn't they just ignore her?
She looked at me, her face seething with excitement as she said " I'm calling it, Date-A-Thon ", soon everyone started looking at each other intrigued by what it could mean.
" Explain further"
" Ok Mr. Jenkins, it'll be an event where anybody could date another mystery student for a day."
Soon the students started exchanging mischievous smiles, fuck! Of course, they'd want to do it. The fact that they don't know who it'll be is what makes it seem so fucking awesome to them. Plus, they could make out with or do whatever the heck they want with that person and after that, they'd forget about the whole thing. The only problem with this plan is that if you get an ugly ass girl, you'd hate yourself for the rest of the day.
Two days having fun with girls in a beach in another country is way more awesome than this fucking fundraiser. Tory better be joking.
" You're joking right?" I said and she just ignored me.
" So how will this mystery student be revealed?" Mrs. Donovan asked.
" There's gonna be a wheel, it'll contain the name of all the students who want to participate, the wheel will be spun and whoever's name it lands on is gonna be your date for the rest of the day."
" I like it! She's a genius" Evangeline said and everyone started clapping. All except me of course, I was too pissed to do anything but stare daggers at her.
" Woah Woah Woah, hold up, just where do you intend to do this?" I asked, looking for loopholes to her idea.
" I suggest the Levanté event center, it's huge and can accommodate the number of people who would come as well as serve as an attraction site for the couples that day. That way, we'll be raising more money for the orphans at St Mary's orphanage."
" How so?"
" Nate, they are gonna pay to watch a movie, go play games, whatever and that is gonna raise more funds, obviously" Mr. Alvarez said with a bored expression. Fuck I hate that man!
" I like the choice of location, that way we can make sure that someone doesn't ditch his or her date if they don't like them"
" True Mr. Jenkins, very true" Mr. Alvarez said looking at me with a smirk on his face.
" Tory, withdraw this idea right now" I said, glaring at her," You wish " she hissed.
" Well, how are you gonna make sure that people like him don't ditch the whole thing as usual" Mrs. Donovan asked and I groaned in frustration. Everybody in this room is literally working against my happiness! Tory is the gang leader.
Mr. Jenkins thought for a while, though I pretended not to care about what he would say but I really was anxious to hear it.
"Well then, I understand we will have higher numbers if people like Jake, Nate, Rex, Isabella, Tia, and so on are present"
" Yes" chorused the students' committee.
" Then it's either they show or lose the chance to be nominated as prom king or queen and then if you don't care about that, fifty marks will be deducted from your continuous assessments in all subjects"
" What?!"
" Yes Nate, we shouldn't have to go through this trouble if you guys will be so kind to do this little thing for the orphans," Mr. Alvarez said with mock remorse.
" And I suppose that other people can attend the event as well, like kids from other schools?"
" Yes Mrs. Donovan, I'll make provisions for that" Tory said with a grin.
" Why are you ruining my life?" I asked, " Because you chose to ruin mine first" she said with a wicked grin.
" Alright, the sports events is gonna start by February 28, the school dance by March 14th, fundraiser by April 2nd, and prom by June 5th. Agreed?"
" Agreed!"
Tory's screwed me over and I'm not gonna forgive her for this. No matter how pretty she is, She's gonna regret this.
