Lola’s pov,
The next evening Lola went to Fenna her house to get ready together. Fenna lend her a black leather pants and a sexy lace top that didn’t leave much to the imagination. Lola let her hair hang loose and she put on some red lipstick. “You look hot as fuck,” Fenna said.
She gave Lola a meaningful stare, “I bet Noah will not be able to keep his eyes off you.”
“I did not do it for him,” Lola replied.
Fenna rolled her eyes, “Yeah, yeah and Santa is real. Everyone can see the sexual tension between you two. The only one that doesn’t realize it is you.”
Lola looked the other way. Was she really that blind? She thought all the fighting made it pretty obvious she wanted nothing to do with Noah Grey.
Fenna smiled and took Lola her arm, “Hey it is okay. You wouldn’t be the first one that drooled over those grey eyes. Come on let’s go!”
They went outside following all the noise. In front of the main building, there was a big open space that was now filled with different bonfires. Music was blasting from big speakers and there was a big table with drinks and snacks. People were talking, laughing, and dancing, it kind of reminded her of university parties. When Fenna saw Tristan, she left Lola alone to jump into his arms and share a passionate kiss. You would think living together gave them enough time to sit on each other’s faces but apparently not. Then again Lola had never been in love, so she did not know how it felt to be totally obsessed with another human being.
Lola looked at everyone having a good time wondering where she should go when she felt someone large standing behind her.
“You look beautiful,” Noah said in a low voice.
A shiver went through her spine when she heard his voice and felt him standing so close to her. His body heat radiating onto hers. She turned around and for a moment the music and noise disappeared into the background. Noah his grey eyes were fixated on her, looking at her like he was ready to devour her. Neither of them said anything, they just stared at each other.
Until Laela broke the tension by jumping next to them, “Hi guys! Oew Lola, I love this song. Come dance with me!”
She pulled Lola with her and when Lola looked back, Noah was still staring at her. Lola got pushed into the crowd and before she knew it her hips were swaying to the rhythm of the music. The people pushed together, the loud music and the full moon. Everything felt somewhat magical, and Lola lost herself in the experience. She closed her eyes and enjoyed the music leading her, maybe it was the full moon, but she did not get tired. She danced with Laela and Peter and then with Fenna and even with Tristan. After a while, she took a little break to get some water and she noticed Deborah standing on the side all alone.
Strangely enough, she felt sorry for her. She did not seem to have any friends. She ran to Deborah and pulled her into the dancing crowd. “Come on Deborah. Have some fun.”
Deborah her eyes were wide with fear, “I really shouldn’t Lola.”
Lola just dragged her further and twirled her around in a pirouette. After a while Deborah got a bit looser and when she gave herself to the music a big smile lit up her face. The smile did not last long because a few seconds later someone turned off the music and Dan marched toward them. Pushing anyone to the ground who was in his way.
“WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING DEBORAH. DANCING LIKE SOME KIND OF SLUT.”
Lola saw Deborah making herself small from fear and anger boiled up inside her. When Dan reached Deborah, he lifted his arm ready to hit her. Lola made a decision in a split second and jumped in between them. Dan his hand paused in the middle of the air, and he looked at her with a mix of surprise and annoyance.
“GET OUT OF THE WAY LOLA.”
Lola stood as tall as she could, “I will not.”
Dan growled, “I will do to my mate whatever I want. Even if I have to hit my way through you.”
He lifted his arm again and then a voice thundered through the open space, “DON’T YOU DARE TOUCH HER DAN. I WILL BREAK EVERY BONE IN YOUR BODY.”
Noah walked toward them, everyone quickly jumped out of the way for him. His eyes were dark with anger. He wrapped his arms around Lola and growled in a dangerous tone. His growl was heard by everyone on the field and even Lola shivered a bit. Dan looked at Noah scared and stepped backward.
“YOUR MATE HAS TO RESPECT YOU DAN I GET THAT. BUT THERE IS NO NEED TO TURN HER INTO A BEATEN DOG. KEEP YOUR PROBLEMS INSIDE YOUR HOUSE INSTEAD OF DRAGGING THEM OUT FOR EVERYONE TO SEE ALL THE TIME. “
Dan wanted to say something back but changed his mind when he saw how angry Noah was. He gritted his teeth for a while and then grabbed Deborah. Before he walked away, he said, “Fine. But I do not want Lola to come near my Deborah anymore. You may be okay with her behavior but that is not what I want for my mate, and she is a bad influence. Deborah will stay inside our home, only going out accompanied by me.”
Lola was waiting for Noah to go against him again, but he didn’t. He turned around and said, “You and I need to talk right now. Let’s go home.”
He just walked away without looking if she followed him. Laela pushed her, “Go! You owe him that much after he just saved you.”
Lola went home and closed the door behind her. Noah stood in the living room with his back toward her. “Pfftt can you believe that guy? Keeping her locked in? Ridiculous. What are you going to do about it?” she rambled.
Noah turned around to face her, his eyes still raging with anger, “Do you ever stop Lola? Do you have to undermine me in everything you do? Do you have to stir up trouble everywhere you go? Do you think you are a hero for encouraging Deborah to let loose? Do you think you saved her by jumping in between? What do you think happens now when you are not there to save her? The only thing you made sure of by your actions is that her life will suck even more than before.”
Lola’s cheeks flushed. She had acted impulsively and did not think something simple like that could have such major consequences. But no hair on her head was thinking about admitting that to Noah’s arrogant ass. She put her hands on her hips and shouted, “Ow yeah? What about you? Is beating your partner to mush something you want to encourage in your pack? You say your father was so cruel and that you hated everything he did. Well, guess what Noah, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. You are just as much a monster as your dad was.”
Already when the words left her mouth, she regretted them. Noah’s face went pale, and his eyes were full of pain. He walked past her to the front door and said calmly, “You know what Lola? You think you can just say anything you want and just push and push and push. You might think I am a monster but what are you? You have zero disregard for other people’s feelings, and it seems like you just like to show disrespect for the fun of it. I have had enough. You can pack your bags and stay with my sister for a while. I need some space and time to think. Make sure you are gone when I come back.”
He did not look at her before he slammed the door and left Lola standing there with an empty feeling in her stomach. She bit her lip and started to realize that maybe this time she had gone too far.
