Lola’s pov,
As she stared into Noah his eyes, she was suddenly very aware of her hand touching his bare chest. She could feel the warmth radiating from his naked torso and her cheeks flushed when she imagined her hands going over his abdominal muscles. She could hardly breathe when his intense gray eyes fixated on hers. Her heart was beating fast, and it felt like a fire was being lit between her thighs. His face became closer, and she closed her eyes waiting for his lips to touch hers, but she just felt a brush of air as Noah leaped over her and went out of bed.
She watched him leave the room with a shocked expression on her face before putting the blanket over her face from shame. She felt so embarrassed! She had been laying there with closed eyes and the Niagara Falls between her thighs thinking he would kiss her, but he just left without saying a word. Did she completely misread the situation or was he just fucking with her? She growled angrily and thought, “Well it is his loss. He will not get the chance again that is for sure.”
When she came down to the kitchen Noah pretended as if nothing had happened. He took his coat and walked to the front door, “I need to leave and there is no more food in the fridge. You can go to the main building and have breakfast with the rest of the pack today.”
Lola stuck out her tongue with annoyance when he left the house without even looking at her. After talking to Laela, she wanted to get to know him better but never mind that. He was just some idiot with mental issues. She sighed and decided to go check out the main building because a girl got to eat.
In the main building, there was a big hall filled with picnic tables. The hall was buzzing with talking and laughter. Lola went to the breakfast buffet and the waiter asked, “Some nice avocado and egg toast for the lady?”
Lola frowned at him, “Fuck no. Save that garbage, I want eggs, beans, sausage, bacon, toast, and chocolate croissants.”
The waiter hesitated, “Female wolves need to be healthy and fertile according to our rules. So, they can only choose between a smoothie, avocado toast, and oats.”
Lola walked closer and said in a sweet tone, “I don’t think Alpha Grey would be happy to hear that you denied his mate the food she wanted. So be a good boy giving me the food I ordered, and you can stick that avocado toast in a place the light never shines.”
The waiter’s face went red, and he quickly started making her breakfast, “Certainly my apologies my lady. I did not realize who you were. Please don’t tell Alpha Grey about this.”
“I won’t if you never try to decide for another female what they can and cannot eat.”
He nodded eagerly and Lola walked away smiling. At least mister beast was good for something after all. She looked around and saw Deborah sipping on a smoothie next to Dan who was devouring 3 plates of food. Yeah, she was definitely not going to sit there. Then she spotted Tristan and Fenna at another table. She walked to their table and asked, “Can I sit with you guys?”
They both smiled at her kindly and Fenna made some space, “Of course.”
She looked at Lola her plate and laughed, “Seems someone has an appetite.”
Tristan’s smile quickly made place for a concerned look, “You should be careful Lola. You should not try to push Alpha Grey his buttons. He has taken it easy on you, but he won’t tolerate it forever.”
Fenna gave him a little push, “Ow come on lighten up. It’s good there is finally someone here with a bit of fire in her ass. It is high time Noah found someone to challenge him.”
Tristan stroked Fenna her hair and said warmly, “You are just happy you finally found another woman that thinks like you.”
Fenna wrapped her arm around Lola, “There is nothing wrong with that. I knew from the moment that you opened your mouth that we would be friends.”
Lola grinned with her mouth full of sausage, “Same girl.”
Tristan pulled Fenna close to him, “I don’t think the pack can handle 2 of you.”
Fenna stuck out her tongue and responded, “Don’t pretend you don’t love my feisty side.”
Tristan looked deep into her eyes and kissed her, “Mmm can’t deny that.”
Lola did not know where to look she felt like an intruder at this display of affection. She had to admit she was a little bit jealous when she saw how much in love they were. Tristan seemed to adore Fenna for who she was. Lola wished she could find something like that but noooo she was stuck with a schizophrenic beast that seemed too confused to know the difference between his head and arse.
After breakfast, Tristan asked her to come with him because Noah had requested her presence at a pack meeting. She felt surprised Noah wanted her there after he had hardly spoken to her. Tristan took her to a conference room filled with men sitting at an enormous table. Noah nodded to her when she came in and pulled out the chair next to him.
“What am I doing here?” she asked.
“We have these meetings weekly with all the men in the pack to discuss problems. Normally women aren’t allowed to be here, but I thought it would be good for you to observe. You did not grow up among wolves so you need to learn as much as you can. You are here to listen and to listen only. Am I understood?”
Lola already started to feel angry again. Who did he think he was talking to her like she was some cockroach? She knew the tone all too well. All her life everyone always thought they were better than an orphan nobody. She just stared back at him with a face like thunder until he adverted his eyes and started talking to the other men in the room.
“Do we have any news that needs to be discussed today?” he asked.
One of the men stood up and said, “There have been some problems amongst the Black Rain pack. They are unhappy and we heard rumors of a rebellion against you Alpha Grey.”
Dan slammed his fist on the table, “We should go there immediately and slaughter them all. That will teach everyone again that they should even be too scared to talk about treason.”
Tristan coughed, “If I may speak Alpha?”
Noah nodded in approval.
Tristan continued, “The Black Rain pack patrols our borders. They keep us all safe. It would not be wise to make them angry or even to kill them all. We need their protection so maybe there is another more peaceful approach we could try. I heard the Alpha’s son has always dreamed of training with the Grey Oak pack. Maybe we could offer him an apprenticeship under your guidance Alpha Grey?”
Dan burst out with laughter, “That sounds like a cunt move. You want everyone to know that we are pussies don’t you Tristan?”
The other men all started to laugh but Noah his low voice cut through the noise like a knife through butter, “Tristan is right. We need the Black Rain pack, and we are stronger with them by our side. Do I need to remind you all that war is only a last resource not a solution for everything. If we would live like that then in a few years, there would be barely any wolves left.”
They all bowed their heads and Lola felt impressed by Noah for the first time. Then she heard Dan whisper to Tristan so only, they could hear it.
“I will rip you apart for this. You still think you can go against me you weak cunt?”
Lola scraped her throat and spoke loudly, “You know what I wonder? How can it be that someone with a mashed potato for a brain is ranked a beta while someone smart is only an omega?”
The room went utterly silent, and Dan turned to Lola with his face full of anger and his veins about to pop.
Noah stood up his normally light grey eyes as dark as the night, while his voice thundered through the room,
“EVERYBODY OUT! EXCEPT FOR LOLA.”
