Noah was happy that Lola seemed to heal pretty fast. He had spent the last couple of days watching over her but today all the Alphas were coming over to talk. He instructed Laela to stay with Lola today. Hopefully, they would both behave themselves because his sister was pretty free-spirited and impulsive. Mixing that with Lola’s personality was kind of asking for trouble but he did not trust anyone else near Lola right now.
In the main building, the eight other Alphas were already waiting for him. There used to be ten packs but after his pack killed all the Fire Wolves only 9 remained. He sat down at the head of the table with Gary the Alpha of the Silver Snake pack on his left side and Bruce the Alpha of the Black Rain pack on his right side. Noah scraped his throat and spoke with a loud and clear voice, “I have called you all here because of a threat to us all.”
He nodded to Bruce and continued, “Thanks to the Black Rain pack we were able to catch hunters wandering our territory. After questioning we found out that there is an organization at hand that put a reward up for anyone who can catch an enormous wolf. We have to assume that someone learned about our existence and is trying to find evidence.”
“Did you find out who this organization is and how they knew where to look for us?” Gary asked.
Noah gritted his teeth, “Unfortunately no. It is of utter performance that we all work together as one right now. If there are any gaps in our systems, they will find us. We need to be of one mind and always act in the best interest of our united packs.”
Bruce slammed his chest and started humming, “The Black Rain pack is with you Alpha Grey always.”
All the other Alphas followed and slammed their chest in the same rhythm. Noah held up his hand to silence them and said, “Thank you all. I feel honored to lead you and I will make sure that we find out who is doing this to us and why.”
Gary looked at Noah and asked, “I assume you have a plan, Alpha Grey?”
Noah smiled, “Indeed I do. I was thinking we should all select a few members from our packs and send them into the human cities. See what they can find out. Let’s call a vote.”
All the other Alphas voted yes to the plan and for the rest of the day they were busy selecting members from the packs and preparing new identities for them. They all got assigned different missions and places to settle. The sun had already gone down by the time they were done, and Noah felt exhausted. Before he left, he took Alpha Bruce to the side and said,
“Bruce, I have been thinking. I think your son Marc has shown great promise so I would like to offer him a position by my side as my pupil. What do you think?”
Bruce his eyes started glittering and he squeezed Noah his hand firmly, “There is nothing that would make me happier Alpha Grey. The boy shows great promise and all I want for him is to achieve greatness.”
Noah gave him a small smile, “Good let him come to my office tomorrow at 9.”
After that Noah went home expecting to find his sister and Lola but all he found were empty alcohol bottles. He sighed and went to Laela her cabin where he found her passed out on the couch. He poured a glass of water on her face, and she jumped up screaming, “WHAT? WHAT? WHERE IS THE FIRE.”
Then she noticed Noah and her cheeks flushed, “Ow hey there big bro. Whatcha doing?”
Noah looked at her angrily and growled, “I don’t even want to know what you 2 were thinking. Where is Lola?”
“She is with the high priestess asking for advice, but you will probably find the high priestess trying to do an exorcism on her.”
She giggled and whispered, “She thinks Lola is sent by the devil you know.”
Noah hurried out of the cabin because his sister was right about one thing. Those 2 left alone was waiting for a disaster to happen. He ran to the high priestess her hut where he found Lola who just staggered out of the door. She was clearly still very drunk and bumped into him.
She looked up with big eyes and smiled widely when she saw him, “Ow look who it is. The scary Alpha Grey.”
She poked him in his side, “Well you don’t scare me beasty, or should I say farty?”
He had no idea what the fuck she was rambling on about, so he just picked her up in his arms and carried her home. Lola just giggled and said, “Look I can fly. My feet are not touching the ground.”
He carried her all the way to her bed. He wanted to let her go the moment she touched the bed, but she wrapped her arms around his neck like a sloth and did not want to let go. She started mumbling again, “You aren’t going anywhere stud. Crazy bird lady told me I have to accept the mate bond to transform.”
She brought her mouth to his ear and whispered, “So kiss me dammit.”
His heart immediately started racing and his hands got sweaty. Achak went crazy inside his head howling, “YES, YES, YES KISS HER. CLAIM HER NOW!”
Noah carefully loosened Lola her arms around his neck and laid her on her pillow. He just wanted to bend forward to kiss her when she started snoring loudly. Of course, she fell asleep right when he thought his lips would finally touch hers. Achak howled sadly and Noah tried to comfort him,
“Sshh it’s okay. We will get there someday. I just know it.”
