THE LYCAN'S DUEL Chapter 59

Thorne Lupus Although I didn't like the course of events, I realized I had to take action. I heard some noise outside my room as I was in it. The guards were to bring Alpha Aiden to my room, as I had instructed. Even though I understood that doing this at this moment wasn't the correct thing to do, I felt compelled to. He told me we needed to talk, so I had to figure out how to get him to my room. I realized that after he was vanquished, things would not turn out the way I had hoped. Since he had lost and had transformed into a wolf, I realized that he shouldn't have attacked Lucius once again. I have no defense against him. When I emerged from the room and turned to face the source of the noise, I saw that it was Aiden. The fact that he had made a scene outside my house after making a mistake on the battlefield only made me furious. I knew that if he hadn't attacked again, things wouldn't have turned out the way they did. I was furious and strode toward him, unconcerned about the consequences. "What's going on here?" When I arrived, I inquired right away, and one of the guards who I directed to escort him to my room bent his head before answering. His response, "He is trying to break free from us," made me feel even more enraged. I glared at him angrily and ordered him to come to my room right away. I hurled Aiden into my room and stormed back there, my eyes flashing with anger. Since I had mind-linked my guard to keep an eye out for any unknown individual who may have snuck in, I was relieved that no one else was in the area. "You're quite bold to do that. It wasn't me who told you to assault him again, but you did. I told him to keep his composure, but you ruined it. He rolled his eyes at me sarcastically. We had both planned something, so I knew he was acting on it, and I also knew that if he continued acting in this way, things may go ugly. I heard him add, "You also didn't tell me that he was this strong; he made everyone bow to him at the pack's square, and you did," and my eyes reddened with rage, leaving me unsure of what to do. I know I should avoid doing anything that may lead someone to suspect us, and I will follow that advice, but I doubt I will be able to do so while he is still present. I was aware that I could make a mistake and that he might do something that would make me angry. "What do you say or do to make him angry?" I asked, keeping my eyes fixed on him. He continued, "I told him his mate would be mine, when we are still fighting," and I couldn't help but become enraged. He'd taunted him until he unlocked his lycan powers. When Freya got involved, I knew there would be nothing I could do to stop him. He looked at me bewildered as I fiercely glared daggers at him and said, "You will have won the duel if you didn't get Freya involved; you made him angry and you expect him to lose; you should be more careful next time." He asked, "What do you mean by that?" but I didn't pay him any mind. I answered, "You will have to carry your cross alone; I can't help you this time," and he looked at me with contempt and a sneer. If it weren't for my desire to keep my involvement in this whole mess a secret, I would have killed him. You might be the council leader, but things would become better if I decided to spill everything out. You think I will just let you ruin my life like this? I won't give you a chance. I said, staring at him with reddening eyes. I realized that it would take a lot of work and that nothing would be simple to get him out of my problems. It seemed obvious to me that he would try to bring me down with him. Had I known that all of this would have occurred, I could have put an end to it before it was too late. I went to him and said, "I will find a way to sort things out; you should not worry, but you need to play along with me when we are with the others," and we left together. **************** Being with Alpha Aiden, whose face was beaming, made him keep saying "thank you," but I wasn't into it. I remained incensed about what he had done. I'm happy that I managed to tame Freya, since I felt that he would have betrayed me if I hadn't succeeded. I was aware that this situation would not have arisen if I had given her the opportunity to communicate with me consistently. I've decided to always find friends who won't betray me, and Freya would have discovered the truth. Those who will be faithful to me till the end are what I want. Weak individuals such as Aiden, who would readily divulge all of his secrets to anyone under duress, are not what I want. Seeing how he behaved changed my mind about wanting to hire him to work for me. I was aware that the only thing I could do in return for his service would be to assist him, but that would be my last instance of doing so. I looked at him and saw his hairy red eyes as I continued, "You aren't trustworthy, and I regret ever trying to make you work things out; you are just a weak Alpha who is trying to make himself look great." I realized that this wasn't what he was expecting to hear, but that's the way it is. He wouldn't take any action in the matter. "If you want to avoid regretting ever meeting me, you should make sure you avoid me." I glared at him. Before he could breathe normally, it choked on my released auras for some time. I told him, "Get going; I don't want to see your face anymore," and he gave me a long look before turning to leave. Since he had ruined my chance to get him away from Freya and brought him closer to her, I realized that things wouldn't turn out as well as I had hoped. I knew that none of it would have happened if he had performed his duties with diligence. It saddens me even more that he has regained his abilities. I was embarrassed and knew that things would have turned out differently if he hadn't teased him. Not that Lucius would have regained his abilities sooner, but he had ruined them. Even though I knew I had to let things go, I was furious and wanted to choke him at that very moment. To subjugate him, I would need to devise new strategies and act quickly. I knew that he was fighting just his lycan inclinations and that things wouldn't have to be the way I wanted them to be if he were to receive the proper training. I was aware that he had trained with a mage master in the past and was currently under Freya's father's tutelage. Training Lucius will only make things worse for me, I knew, and the only way to stop it is to kill him before he has a chance to heal from everything that has been done to him. I know that I must move quickly. I wandered dejectedly back to my room, unsure of what action to take. I realized that I had to make sure he was awake if I was going to kill him. I knew that while he was still unconscious, Freya and her guards would be watching over him, and if he was awake, they would have an easier time killing him covertly because he would be the only person in his room. When I entered my room, I shut the door behind me. I intend to take a cold shower before choosing the person I want to send on the Lucius-killing expedition. I was aware that he might receive assistance from his wolf, so I had to be cautious and send multiple attackers to target him. I have to murder him as soon as I can.
