"Sure, see you later!" Vanessa rushed out and hung up.
I placed my phone back inside my purse just as I saw Tess walking back to me with a tray of three bugers, three fries and three sprites. I walked the rest of the way to meet her and she glanced at an empty table beside us, "Let's sit here."
"Okay." I replied and walked over to the table to sit down.
She sat down on the opposite bench and placed our trays on the table. "Here you go."
I grabbed one of the plate of fries and burgers and a sprite, "Thanks."
She smiled at me as she picked up her burger, "No problem, Kat."
I picked my fork and started stabbing the French fries and eating them. I glanced up at her and asked, "When is your mate joining us?"
She glanced at me as she chewed on a piece of burger, "Soon, he usually comes around this time. Oh there he is."
She jutted her chin towards the entrance of the cafeteria and I turned around to see a tall man with red hair in jeans and a t-shirt walking towards our table. I was surprised that he wasn't wearing a suit or any sophisticated clothes. He sat down beside Tess and pecked her on the lips, "Hey, babe."
"Hey, honey! I made a new friend today." She said with a grin as they stared into each other's eyes.
He turned to me and smiled, "I see that she's new here."
"Yes, Kat, this is my mate, William and Will, this is my new cowriter, Kat." Tess introduced us as she gestured towards us with her hands.
"Nice to meet you, Kat!" Will said to me as he waved his right hand.
"Nice to meet you too, William." I replied with a smile on my lips too.
As I glanced at him, I knew that I had to ask what was on my mind, so I did. "Can I ask you something? I hope you won't find it harsh."
Tess and Will moved their full attention to me as he replied with a curious look on his face, "Sure."
"Why are you dressed so casually? Aren't we required to wear a suit as the dress code?"
They both chuckled at my question and he shook his head, "No, we're not required to because of the department we are working in. As a tech guy, I can dress as casually as I can."
Tess nodded as she added, "Yeah and as writers, you and I don't have to wear suits, we only need to dress in a sophisticated way just like what I'm wearing now. But you can also wear a suit without the jacket."
I suddenly felt embarrassed that I didn't know and wore a suit to work like I used to at my previous job. A blush rose to my cheek and I nodded, "Well, thanks for telling me. I must have looked weird to everyone in our open office for wearing a suit."
William picked up the third plate of fries and burger and started eating it as she shook her head as she replied, "No, everyone knows you're new and dressing this way only makes you look smart."
I smiled at her compliment as my blush and embarrassment subsided, "Thanks for seeing me that way."
"Oh gosh, it's the boss! Why is he here?" We heard a woman's voice among the people around us exclaim.
We all turned to the entrance to see Sebastian walking into the cafeteria with two of his assistants. His captivating eyes immediately found mine and captured them. I felt so drawn to him and wanted to run to him. My wolf kept urging me to do so too as he continued walking towards us with his dark, exotic gaze holding mine. I could hear the people in the cafeteria all whispering about how he has never been in the cafeteria before and how he was staring at me, but I ignored them all as I was lost in his eyes.
He finally stopped in front of our table and sat down beside me while his assistants sat at another table. His lips tugged up into a smile as his alluring eyes watched me, "Did you miss me, cupcake?"
I blushed and nodded, shyly, "Yes."
His smile widened and he looked amused at how shy I was acting. "I missed you too, my one."
He took my hand in his tattooed one and glanced at the tattoo of his name on my wrist before interlacing our fingers with a pleased look on his face. He turned his muscular, tattooed neck to Tess and William who were staring at him, nervously. "Who are your friends?"
"This is Tess and her mate, William." I answered him as I motioned towards them with my free hand.
"Hello, Sir." Tess greeted him with a small smile.
"Hello, Sir. It's a pleasure to meet you." Will greeted him too with a large grin as he stretched out his hand for him to shake.
"The pleasure is all mine, are you two in a pack?" He asked them, looking at them, curiously as he shook Will's hand briefly.
"No, Sir." They both replied at the same time.
"You haven't asked me if I was in a pack." I stated with a confused look on my face as I wondered why he didn't ask me.
He turned to me and let out a chuckle in his velvety, deep voice, "I already know that you're not in a pack, Kat."
I felt even more confused as I asked, "How did you know?"
"I had a background check done on you last night after I couldn't find you." He replied with a sheepish smile on his face.
My eyes widened in surprise, "So you also found out that I was starting work here today?"
Sebastian nodded, "Yes and that's why I came to your office this morning."
"Well, I'm very glad that you did." I commented as I stabbed a few fries and was about to place them in my mouth. But the fork was taken away from my hand by Sebastian.
I looked at him with a questioning look, "Why-"
"Let me feed you, cupcake." He said, softly as he moved the fork full of fries to my lips.
"But I can feed myself and everyone is watching." I argued as my face heated up again at how Tess, Will and everyone in the cafeteria were staring at us.
"Let them watch how much I like taking care of my mate." He replied, simply and I felt my heart squeeze with love at his words.
I opened my mouth and let him feed me. He moved the fries through my lips and into my mouth as his alluring, dark eyes held mine. I could see the love and want swirling in his eyes as I stared back into them. The tension between us thickened and I closed my lips around the fork to pull the fries into my mouth. That made Sebastian's eyes drop to my lips as he watched them close around the fork.
