Daniel’s P.O.V
Jacob and I left the club, got into the car and Jacob started driving, while I sat in the passenger seat. Jacob had told me in the club that Jackson had left half an hour before I came out of the room, but now there seemed to be something else bothering Jacob.
“What's the matter?” I asked, as Jacob looked lost in his thoughts.
“Remember when I told you that I did not know where or why Jackson had left the club, well now I know the reason.” Jacob replied, taking his phone out of his pocket. I was worried about Jackson, but now Jacob was making me feel even more worried with how he was acting, something was definitely going on and it must be serious. Jacob handed me his phone and there was a video on the screen ready to be played, but when I looked closer I saw that it was a video of Jackson’s mother, Lily. I pressed play and watched as everything unravelled.
Lily’s P.O.V
I was in the market with the bodyguards that Jackson had appointed to protect me. I was buying all the ingredients to make Jackson’s favourite and just as I went to reach for something a car came hurtling down the street and was coming straight at me. I panicked and managed to jump out the way at the last second with the car missing me by inches. I dropped the bags and the food went flying across the floor.
Jackson’s bodyguards came rushing over to me, helping me up and they looked so afraid, knowing that Jackson would have killed them if I had been seriously injured, but when they saw that my arm was hurt they all started to panic. I looked around and noticed that it was Alexander's car, he opened the door and got out with a sly smile on his face. Jackson's bodyguards saw him and they were just about to go over and beat him when i stopped them.
“Leave him, it was an obvious mistake.” I said and I was willing to forgive Alexander. I was just about to turn and leave when Alexander started laughing loudly.
“It was not a mistake, I did it intentionally.” Alexander said, but I chose to ignore him. He was just a spoiled brat, but suddenly he started to abuse Jackson and his father. I stopped and looked back at him, Jackson's bodyguards were getting angry after hearing his disrespect to their boss and they were just about to beat him when I yet again stopped them. I walked over to Alexander and slapped him hard across both cheeks. Everyone in the market saw me do this, but I was surrounded by bodyguards, so Alexander tried to behave.
“Just you wait and see, I will ruin Jackson and Daniel tomorrow.” Alexander threatened and left, leaving me worried for my son and nephew.
Daniel’s P.O.V
I watched the video footage and now understood why Jackson ran out of there so fast and so suddenly. I gave Jacob back his phone and took out my own from my coat pocket. I called Jackson and put the phone on speaker, so that Jacob could hear what was being said as well. I leaned my head back against the seat and closed my eyes, while waiting for jackson to answer the phone, thinking about what Alexander meant. How was he going to ruin us?
“What do you think he is up to? We got information that a lawyer is coming tomorrow and now we have all of this shit. I think that you are right and they are trying to take advantage of your presence.” Jacob said and he was right. We got the news of the lawyer coming when we were on our way out of the club and at that time I had predicted Alexander's next move. My phone kept ringing and after a few minutes Jackson finally answered the phone, making both Jacob and I take a deep breath.
“Jackson, where are you?” I asked, trying to keep my voice calm, knowing exactly where he was right now, but I still wanted him to tell me.
“I am at home with my mom.” Jackson replied, confirming my suspicion and just as Jackson finished talking we heard the sound of a door closing and we knew Jackson had left the room his mother was in, not wanting to upset her.
“How is she?” Jacob asked, clearly worried after we had both seen in the video that her hand was bleeding and she was startled after her run in with Alexander.
“She is okay, I know you both must have watched that video and saw that her hand was hurt. I have not told her that I know what happened, but she has not told me the truth. She just said that she had a fall and not what caused the fall. I know she will never tell me the truth.” Jackson said and the sound of the fax machine started, telling me that he was in his office. Jacob and I both smiled after hearing that sound, knowing what it was about.
“So are you both really doing it?” Jacob asked, making both Jackson and I burst out laughing. Jacob started laughing knowing that we were as he had already witnessed me signing the papers and now Jackson was doing the same.
“That fucker really thinks that he can destroy us, he dared to threaten my mother and she was still more worried for me than herself. He tried to play mind games with my mother. He has invited his own destruction.” Jackson said and laughed, but I knew that laughter was covering up the overwhelming anger he felt. I started to laugh and opened my eyes, Jacob looked at me and I knew he could see the anger in them. I picked up the phone and brought it closer to me.
“Now he's going to learn why I really came back here. I could see the curiosity in the eyes of both mother and son and soon they will regret my arrival. Meet me at home tomorrow.” I said and hung up the phone, putting it back in my pocket. After a while of driving Jacob pulls the car into the driveway and parks out front of the mansion. Jacob and I got out of the car and just as we were about to enter Jacob suddenly stopped.
“I will go through the back door.” Jacob said and went to leave.
“There is no need for that, you can come with me through this door.” I replied and Jacob smiled.
“You know mother is going to be waiting for you in the hall like she always does, we all know who she is eager to see and I do not want to come between your precious moments.” Jacob said, smiling and turning to leave. He always does this, I thought to myself as I smiled and walked inside to see my mother waiting for me, but she looked like she was lost in her thoughts. She was so deep in thought that she did not know I was here until I was standing right in front of her.
“Daniel.” My mother said, smiling and hugging me tightly. I hugged her back and smiled, just as Alexander arrived home. I looked back at him and balled up my fists, remembering what he had done to Jackson's mother. My mother looked at me, not knowing what was going on, but she knew that there was something wrong and it would cause big trouble if I stayed here. Mom grabbed my hand and dragged me all the way to my room, I did not say anything to Alexander but the look I gave him made him visibly scared. I walked into the room closely followed by my mom who closed the door behind her.
“What happened to your hand?” My mom asked, looking at my hand, but I quickly pulled it away from her.
“Did you hurt yourself?” My mom asked, not dropping the subject.
“No, it is just a small matter. Do not worry.” I replied, looking around my old room and I saw that it was clean and nothing had been changed. I smiled looking at my mom, knowing that she was expecting me to stay here forever.
“Do you like it? I asked the maids to clean your room, no one has moved a thing and everything is just as you left it.” My mom said, making me narrow my eyes at her.
“Mom, I have told you before and I am telling you again, I will not stay in this house.” I replied, causing my mom's face to look sad. I hated seeing her sad and so I took her hand and made her sit down on my old bed, while I kneeled in front of her.
“Mom, please do not be sad. you know I hate to see you like this.” I said, with a worried tone as my move touched my cheeks.
“Then why have you come back, Daniel?” my mom asked, making me go quiet and suddenly it was as if my mom had an idea and looked at me in shock.
“The last time you left, you said that you would only return here once you had found that woman. Did you find her? Is she the reason you have come back?” My mom asked, smiling at me. I smiled and kissed her hand, as a reply and she started smiling even more.
“I am so happy for you, daniel. You have finally found her. She must be pretty amazing to make you smile like that, I have been waiting years to see that smile and she makes you smile. She is my Daniel’s love.” My mom said and I nodded my head.
“Yes I have completed my promise. I have found her and that's the reason I came back, so I could tell you. I have found Sara and soon I will bring her to come and meet you. She is very beautiful and innocent, mom. You will like her, she is like you.” I said and my mom knew that i was serious, she has never heard me talk about any woman like this before and i have never called any woman beautiful.
I took out my phone and showed my mom the picture of sara, but as she looked at it I was not able to read her face. She just calmly looked at the photo and did not say anything. I was expecting that my mom would like Sara, I knew she would like her. No one could ignore her innocence.
“Mom, you will not hate her, right?” I asked, nervous about what her answer was going to be. I did not care if the whole world hated Sara, but I wanted my mother to like Sara at any cost.
“Yes, I like her because she is your bride. I have no reason to hate my future daughter in law.” My mom replied, cupping my cheeks with her hands and a big smile came to my face. I knew she would like sara. I hugged my mom tightly and started to tell my mom everything about her, she also asked me a few questions.
After an hour of talking mom left my room and I lay down on my bed, looking up at the ceiling and thinking about Sara. I had not seen her in a few hours and it was driving me mad, I got up from the bed and walked over to the sofa, pulling my phone out and calling her number. I had her number, but this was the first time I ever decided to call her, except after the day in the club, I had tried calling her then, but she never picked up.
The phone rang out, but she did not answer this time either. I kept trying but she just is not picking up and it made me angry. The smile from my face had disappeared and I was being dominated by my anger. I had called her more than fifty times and not once did she answer. I had been here for seven hours and already she was playing games with me, she was ignoring me and it was enough for me to do something, so I stopped calling Sara and called jacob.
“Hello Jacob, track the location of Sara and let me know where she is!” I said and threw the phone on the bed. I walked inside the bathroom and took a shower to calm myself down. She was not answering my phone calls and then this weird thought came to my mind. I came out of the room wearing only a towel around my waist, just as a servant entered the room with coffee. Mom had sent coffee for me and I decided to take it on the balcony, while I was waiting for Jacob's call. After a few minutes my phone started ringing and I wasted no time in answering it after seeing that it was Jacob who was ringing me.
“Sir, Sara’s phone is in her house.” Jacob said and I went quiet after hearing this. If Sara is home then why is not she answering the phone? It was strange. At the same time if she is ignoring my calls then why did not she just switch off her phone? None of this felt right and I had a bad feeling about this matter.
“Jacob, you need to find out what the fuck is going there. I want to know about this as soon as possible!” I said and he quickly replied yes. I threw my coffee away in a small plant pot and looked at the soil. The soil absorbed the coffee in a matter of seconds and I smirked to see this scene.
“You are keeping me waiting, Sara and I have become like this soil. I am becoming hungry for you more and more with each passing second. I am going to devour you as I will return and you are going to regret this.” I said to myself and threw the plant from the balcony.
