Nicole waited nervously for the doctor to call her in, she had come for the test anyway and had her blood taken for the test a while ago, she thought of the possible result, she hadn't taken the home test because she knew she couldn't bear the anxiety that comes with checking by herself and had decided to check at the hospital, after this, she was meeting with Grace who was in town for the holidays, she wanted to tell her all the happiness she has been experiencing since they last saw each other, of course, they talked on the phone but it would be better now when they meet, she wanted to know everything that has been going on with Grace, the times they spoke on the phone, Grace always has something to do so their calls didn't last as she would have wished it does, perfect time to catch up on lost time, they were meeting up at the house, Grace wanted to visit her studio.
"Mrs. Salvador?"
A nurse called bringing her out of her thoughts.
"Yes, that's me,"
She said getting up.
"The doctor will see you now, this way,"
The nurse directed and Nicole nervously followed behind her, when she got into the doctor's office, she met a man who would be in his early fifties or late forties, she greeted him and sat down waiting for him to address her.
"Mrs. Salvador right?"
"Yes, that's me,"
"Okay, cool, your results are in, congratulations, you are pregnant, we need to find out how many weeks it is, so the nurse will direct you to get a scan done, after that, you can decide if you want to register with us for antenatal or use a different clinic,"
The doctor explained, Nicole couldn’t even digest the news just yet, yeah, she had been fifty percent certain that she was carrying and now that it was confirmed, she just didn’t know what to feel, she had a life growing inside her.
"Thanks, doc,"
Nicole said and followed the nurse that showed up to the scan room where the scans were taken, she had no idea what they are doing but the woman attending to her smiled and told her congratulations which meant she was indeed pregnant, she left the scan room with the result given to her and went back to the doctor's office.
"Well, you are three weeks pregnant, congratulations once again Mrs. Salvador,"
The doctor said, Nicole thanked him, she was pregnant, as in she was with child, Rafael's child, she was going to be a mom and they were going to be parents.
"Thank you doc,"
"You don't look excited about it,"
"No, it is not that, it's just that my husband and I haven't talked about having kids, I am just not sure what his reaction will be and I don't know yet if I can be a good mother to my kids, I have never thought of it and it is happening,"
She voiced out her worries to the doctor who smiled kindly at her.
"It happens a lot, a lot of our first-time mom experience same thing but at the end of the day, they end up loving being pregnant and being amazing mom, I know you will do just fine, just be careful as it still the early stage and at this stage, there is a high rate of possible miss carriage,"
The doctor advised, Nicole didn't want to miscarry her child, she wanted to carry it to full terms and give birth to it.
"Thank you doc, I will keep that in mind,"
They talked for a few more minutes before she excused herself and left the doctor's office, she didn't go home directly as she went to get Grace's favorite snacks.
When she got home, she went into the kitchen and told the chef to make spaghetti, sauce, and cheese because she knew Grace loved it, that she went up to her studio and tried to put things in order, she had messed it up the day before trying out the new trending art, it took her about thirty minutes to finish cleaning up her studio as she did at home, she didn't let the staffs clean her studio, and even the room she shared with Rafael, she did those herself, she was used to it anyway, hated when someone else had to clean after her.
Just when she finished taking her bath, one of the staff informed her that Grace was around, she hurriedly got dressed and went downstairs to see her friend, but was told she had to go verify it was the person she was expecting, she ran outside towards the gate, Grace got out of the car at the sight of her, she looked so much better and was smiling happily.
"Oh, my gosh, Grace, you look so different, in a good way, Harvard is good to you I must say,"
Nicole said in greeting when Grace walked towards her, she hugged her.
"I can say the same ma'am, you look really good too, I mean you have always been beautiful but let's just say, love makes you glow differently, I am guessing your husband is doing a good job with you,"
"Of course, let's go inside,"
"Of course,"
She answered and followed Nicole into the mansion, all the while she was wowing and stuff, Nicole laughed at her expression.
"Okay, people are rich, I can't relate,"
"Very funny,"
"No, really, I am from a very average family, it nice to have a rich ass friend,"
She said it in a way that Nicole couldn't come up with a reply.
"I want to see your studio, the sneak peek I have been seeing is making me curious,"
"Sure, it's this way,"
Nicole said leading her out of the house, she knew Grace would want to see her studio and that they might not even get to stay in the main house so she had told the chef to bring the food to her studio when it was time.
"Wow, this is so beautiful, wow, just wow,"
Grace said admiring her studio, she could only agree, she showed Grace around her studio and the young lady was full of praises for the place, they sat down and eat lunch, Nicole still had the thought of the baby in her womb at heart.
"Why are you Frowning Nicole? You have been doing that a lot since I got here,"
