Derek paced his room, agitated, his heart felt pained, he wanted to humiliate Kathleen, to make her feel so much pain but why does it seem like he was hurting himself instead, he felt pained when he saw her pained look as he sent her to bring the drink for Nicole and he felt flame of anger when Nicole had spilled that drink on her, he could no longer hold himself in check when he saw Nicole's hand raised to hit her, what was wrong with him? "Wake up Derek, she never loved you, she was just playing innocent and was with you because you're rich" he chided himself, he needed to visit the clubhouse, a little wining and dancing will do him good, he got dressed and came out from his room, he was at the foot of the stairs when Kathleen came out of nowhere and crashed into him, "what the..." He didn't have time to balance his weight and they both went crashing down.
One minute Kathleen was running from the Terrance before anyone would see her, she didn't want Marcella to suspect that she heard her discussion over the phone, and the next minute she crashed into Derek, who suddenly came down the stairs, her eyes widened as he groaned, "I'm sorry, did I hurt you?" Her hands moved over him frantically, checking for injury.
Derek felt his body respond immediately at her touch, he grew still as her hands roamed over him, he watched her for a while before grabbing her wrist to stop her hands from moving further, "I am fine" he growled and her body grew still, she glanced at him and soon they were aware of their position, Kathleen was lying astride him with her hair fallen, it teased his nostrils and he promptly inhales her scent, Derek stared at the woman he had loved but who broke his heart, she lied that she loved him making him dream of things he shouldn't have dreamt of in the first place, only to find out that she was just playing him, he couldn't get the thoughts of her in bed with Stefan out from his head.
"Derek" Kathleen whispered, was that a flicker of pain she saw in his eyes? It was gone before she could be sure of it, maybe it was a figment of her imagination, she stared at him, suddenly aware of the packs of muscles beneath her, she missed him, she had given him her love but right now he only sees her as a betrayer, her gaze flew to his full lips and on their own accord, her head moved down to press her lips with his, she heard his breath catch, order than that, there was no reaction from him, she kissed him and then observe him solemnly, " I never betrayed you Derek and my love for you is real, I'll prove it to you" his gaze was blanked and he made no reply, she carefully got up from his body and went to her room.
Derek stood there for a while, still trying to get his feelings in check, what was wrong with him? Why can't he get her off his system despite what she did, he knew that what she had just said to him right now was a blatant lie and he would be stupid if he believed her, he would never forget her betrayal nor forgive her for it.
Kathleen entered her room and slammed the door behind her, she leaned on it and her fingers flew to her lips, she closed her eyes and thought of the few seconds she had merged her lips with his, despite his cold treatment of her, her heartbeat sped up when she was astride him, she loved him still and longed for him and it hurts that he wanted nothing to do with her ever again, to him, she was now a servant and he would do everything to make her life miserable.

The next day, Kathleen quickly prepared breakfast, she was glad that Derek was the only one at the table, he stared at her with a blank gaze as she sets the table, his eyes were red and he looked like he hadn't had any sleep the previous night.
"Why did you do it?" He asked softly, too softly that Kathleen at first thought it was a prank played in her by her ears.
"What?" She asked
"Why did you do it?" He asked loudly this time, "why did you sleep with Stefan? Didn't you think for once how it would affect our child? Did you do it to spite me?"
Kathleen felt a searing pain in her heart, he totally believe what he had seen, he thought she might spite him? "How can I spite the man I love?" She replied softly and he laughed sarcastically, "man you love, how Ironic huh," he said nothing more and delved into his meal, he ate just a mouthful before pushing his chair backward and walking away.
Kathleen's heart aches as she watched him go, oh! How he must despise her. With a thoughtful look, she suddenly walked towards Marcella's room, her gaze intent, she would confirm her suspicion of yesterday.
