Kathleen was discharged from the hospital, since the day of the incident, she hadn't set her eyes on Derek, neither had he come to the hospital nor called her on phone, she felt depressed, her happy world just came crumbling in a blink of an eye, she wished she could wake up from this terrible nightmare, her precious child was gone and Derek, the love of her life hadn't bothered to come to see her, she flagged down a cab that took her home. She entered the house but met no one at home or so she thought until Marcella came out from the room as if expecting her, she looked at Kathleen with so much hate in her gaze, " why are you back here? She hissed and Kathleen frowned, she was in no mood to face Marcella right now, she was just too heartbroken, so, she made no reply but simply took steps towards the stairs before Marcella blocked her, " you have no shame, you still have the guts to come back here after what you did?"
Kathleen felt tears pooled in her eyes, she felt very terrible " I didn't do anything" she explained and Marcella gave out an angry hiss, " you're still playing innocent, are you? We all saw what you did, your name is plastered on all the newspaper, you've brought nothing but bad luck since you entered this family, how could you come back here?"
Kathleen bowed her head, " this is now my home and I am not going anywhere"
"Shameless slut" Marcella shouted before turning away and leaving Kathleen there all alone.
She climbed the stairs weakly, she felt drained and helpless and the pain in her heart was just too heavy, when she gets stronger, she'll find Stefan, he had some explaining to do, he would tell her why he did that to her, she laid on the bed, hugging herself tightly, she promptly fell asleep.
She had slept for some hours before she felt a hand jerking her roughly out of the bed, she struggled against the hand which suddenly released her and she fell on the floor, pain shot up her spine and she scrambled to her feet.
" what the hell are you doing here?"
Derek's voice thundered, "you are so brave, I must commend you" his voice was cold sending painful chills down her spine
"What do you mean by that Derek?, This is my home", his sudden burst of laughter was that of contempt, his cold gaze pinned her and Kathleen shivered, she couldn't bear his contempt, her heart constricted painfully, she had to explain what happened that day but what could she explain, when she had no idea what actually happened.
" Please Derek, believe me, I had no idea what happened, I just took a drink and......"
"Spare me the details of how you opened your pussy for another man"
Kathleen's face flushed red and tears gathered in her eyes, she moved to touch his arms in an attempt to make him believe her but he moved away from her touch, tears were flowing down her cheeks as she stared at him, "Derek, my love...." He laughed harshly, " your love? You could win a Grammy award for acting"
" You told me to stay away from Stefan and I did, believe me" she shouted and he lifted a mocking brow, he went to where he had kept the photos he received and threw them at her, " then please explain these"
Kathleen was confused, she picked the photos from the floor and stared at them, it was photos of her and Stefan, from the moment she accidentally bumped into him the day she almost had an accident, another was of both of them at the entrance of the hospital, when he had held her hand and another when he embraced her, Kathleen was bewildered, Stefan had this all planned out and she was just the fool.
" I see you can no longer talk" Derek's voice was dark, " lying wench"
"No Derek, this is not true, he planned it all, I actually went to the hospital, I admit but this embrace is...."
" You actually admitted still seeing him" he cuts her off
"He begged me to see his mother and..."
"Enough of your lies, not one more word from you, you actually went to see his mother? Which mother, the one that died five years ago?"
Kathleen felt her body slump at his words and she took slow steps back as if in slow motion, "dead? Stefan's mom is dead? But...but...."
"I said not one more word, now get out"
Kathleen's brain was reeling and her heart panted painfully. Her brain was too slow to process what was going on, she stared at him, her eyes blinded with tears, he was looking at her with so much anger and her heart gave an answering pain, she felt like she was drowning, drowning in sorrow and misery, she opened her mouth but no words came out.
"I said get out" he screamed
" No please, don't chase me away, I won't leave you, I love you"
He laughed sardonically, " you love my money too much don't you" his jaw was set in a grim line, he held her wrist and dragged her out of the room. She struggled to free her wrist from his firm grip, " please Derek, just listen to me once"
His face was cold, she couldn't begin to comprehend him with the charming smile Derek she knew, he dragged her to the foot of the stairs and threw her away from him, she landed on her knees and hand, pain shot reverberated her whole body, the servants, who were in the kitchen ran out to see what the commotion was about.
"Listen, every one of you, henceforth, Kathleen will be sleeping in the servant's Lodge and none of you should serve her again, she's now one of you" Derek's voice addressed the servants and he turned in his heels and climbed back the stairs when he got to the top of the stairs, he paused and turned, facing her, " never you step foot in this room ever again and don't bother about your things, I'll send it to you" with that, he stormed into the room slamming the door shut with a loud bang.
Kathleen made no attempt to stand up from where he had thrown her, she couldn't believe this was happening, her heart tightened painfully, no, Derek can't do this to her, she can't live without him, she loves him so much. She jerked her head up, the maids were staring at her with sympathies, " I didn't do anything, I didn't do anything" she chanted and struggled to her feet, Derek had to believe her, she made to dash up the stairs but a hand suddenly clammed on her wrist dragging her back, she turned to see Marcella's furious gaze on her
" how much low can you get, leave him alone, I'd rather he throws you out of her"
" No Marcella, you don't understand, I need to talk to him"
" You're now a servant and has no more right to speak freely to the heir of Deloux, guards" she shouted and Kathleen twisted her wrist frantically for Marcella to let go, two guards suddenly appeared out of nowhere, " take this bitch to the servant's quarter" Marcella instructed.
The guards both looked at each other awkwardly before carefully holding her, " please ma'am".
Kathleen's shoulders slump, her vision blurred with tears, she let the guards lead her away.
Marcella smirked as she watched the guards lead Kathleen away, she had hoped Derek would throw out that bitch but she can't have it all, she would have to accept his decision, it was better than nothing. The next step of her plans are in other, she brought out her phone and dialed a number, " it's time" she whispered simply before hanging up
