Kathleen looked up to see him striding towards her, his gaze furious, "I....i...just went out for a while", his gaze narrowed on her, " have you forgotten you're pregnant and supposed to be in bed?"
"I've not forgotten but going out for a while wouldn't hurt either, it won't make the baby disappear" she tried to sound convincing but her patience was running thin, his breathing was harsh as he struggled to rein in his anger, "and you didn't see it necessary to go with the driver?"
"I needed to breathe Derek, the driver will only end up following just your instructions anyways"
"It's for your well being Kath, don't make it sound like you're being suffocated"
"I know you're worried but I won't purposefully put my baby in harm's way either and I am not so fragile that I can't do anything for my self" she ran upstairs and Derek felt like punching something, he knew she wasn't fragile but he doesn't want to take a chance that anything should happen to her or the baby either, he wished she would listen to him for once. That night, they slept facing away from each other but each listening if the other had slept, finally they both fell asleep and when Kathleen woke up the next day, he had already left.
Kathleen roamed the house for lack of anything to do, she was sitting on the couch when she heard something fell down and Marcella's screamed, it was coming from Michael Deloux's room, she quickly rushed there and for a moment stood at the doorway taking in the scene in front of her, Marcella's face was red with anger and was raining obscenities on her husband who was numbly staring at her, she looked agitated as she held her husband by the jaw, "how dare you refused your medication, you even threw it away, you're such an old fool, how dare you threw away my efforts"
Kathleen frowned, Marcella was being irrational and overreacting, she glanced at Michael Deloux who was just staring at her but couldn't move to free himself and Kathleen quickly intervened, "you can easily get him another medicine, no need treating him that way"
Marcella whirled around and her brows knitted, "how long have you been standing there?" Kathleen shook her head, "does it matter? Long enough to witness how you abused him"
Marcella looked at her coldly, "he's my husband and I care about him, I was just angry he threw away his medication".
Kathleen glanced at the old man lying on the bed, " it might just be your own mistake, the poor man can't even move, I suggest you keep your anger and be patient with him"
" so you'll coach me how to deal with my own husband?" Marcella glared at her, " just because you're okay with Derek now didn't mean you can just barge in and lecture me on how to take care of my husband"
Kathleen shook her head, Marcella was getting it all wrong, "I didn't mean it that way" she tried to calm Marcella but she screamed at her to get out from the room, her mouth spewed venom as she ordered Kathleen out, " one last tip Kathleen, enjoy while you can because Derek will soon get tired of you and dump you just like he dump others" her gaze cold, she watched Kathleen stepped Lut of the room and shut the door to her face.
Kathleen took a deep breath as she stared at the locked door, she wondered why Marcella was so sure that Derek would someday leave her, she shook away a strange premonition that washed over her, she would not allow Marcella to get in her head
Her phone was ringing when she entered her room, it was Stefan, " hello"
" Please, I need a friend to talk to right now, she's dying, they said she doesn't stand a chance to live" his voice broke as if he was crying and Kathleen's heart thudded, what could be wrong to make him cry, she had known him as someone who was always cheerful and smiles a lot lote had never even perceived any negative vibes from him, she tried to grab what he was saying, " "calm down Stefan and tell me what's wrong and who is dying" she heard him sniffed through the receiver, " can I see you? Please, don't say no, I just need a friend right now, and believe it or not you're my only friend" Kathleen was silent for a minute, considering his request if Derek finds out she was still maintaining her friendship with Stefan, he would be so mad at her but right now, Stefan needed someone and he had said she was her only friend, she would quickly meet up with him and come back quickly.
"Please Kathleen" his voice echoed through the receiver.
"Alright Stefan, where are you?"
"I'm in front of your house" she nodded at his response, not thinking what he would be doing in front of her house, her mind was only focused on how to quickly see him and rushed back before Derek returned.
" Good, I'll be there shortly" she hung up the receiver and ran downstairs.
Kathleen saw his car packed just outside the building, "Stefan what's wrong?" she asked concerned, he opened the car door for her to get in, she entered still worried, "are you okay?"
"I'm sorry to have disturbed you" his voice rough
"It's okay, let's take it as a payback for saving me the other day" he tried to smile at her words but it fell flat
"Thanks, let's go somewhere we can talk" Kathleen nodded as he drove off.
What Kathleen didn't know was that an eye was watching her and camera was doing its work, someone was definitely tailing her but in her Innocence, she knew nothing about that.
