RITA'S POV
The following day, I arrived at the company before Evelyn. I quickly began to sort out some files for the day so as to make our work easier and faster.
Not too long after I've settled, the door opened and Adam walked in.
“Good morning Adam”
“Hello, good morning to you too” He responded.
“Happy belated birthday to you” I waved.
“And a big thank you to you guys” He appreciated.
“Actually, Evelyn did the major part” I told him “But why is she not here yet”
“She'll get here very soon” Adam said then he sat down on Evelyn's seat which was next to me.
“You were drunk yesterday, thank goodness you got home safely” He said.
“Yeah, uhm actually… Finn took me to his place, it might be worst if I had slept alone that night in such condition”
“Then you could have slept over at my place since Finn wasn't gonna drive you straight up to your home” Adam said.
“Well …” I paused, folding in my lips to hide the smile.
“You're beginning to fall in love with Finn again?” Adam gave me a suspicious gaze.
“Uhm, things happens, you know..” I murmured but he made no comment about that.
“Actually, I have lost contact with Zane for a while now, but it seems like forever. I think he is intentionally ghosting me perhaps because he must have found another woman but well, he says he's busy and doesn't have any time for me” I explained to Adam briefly; ‘’Therefore, I created room for the next available guy. Do not blame me” I justified myself without feeling remorseful.
“So you fell in love with Finn because Zane is ghosting you” Adam interrogated.
“No” I shook my head continuously. “I have told you that I fell in love with Finn way long ago even while I was into Zane”
“Yeah you did. Hmmn”
“Finn loves me so much too, we are compatible obviously. I think we are fated or something, Finn and I are great together. Come to think of it, we have shared alot of memories together even when we are not couple yet. I do not regret that I wanna move on with Finn ” I informed Adam, but all he did was to nod, he sighed and put on a small smile.
“Why… do you always care about my love life?” I asked Adam.
“I always care about you Rita” He replied.
Something suddenly niggled at me
“Do you uhm, maybe like me Adam? actually, I mean are you in love with me?” I asked him.
“Uh!” He exclaimed. He seemed taken aback by my question.
“You have been so concerned about me, you ask after Zane, you ask about Finn, you always wanna discuss about my unsure feelings. You …uhm, sometimes even shun your girlfriend just because of me. Are you probably in love with me Adam?” I spoke discreetly, staring deeply into his eyes until he blinked severally.
“What? Uh no. I … I am dating your friend, is,Evelyn” He stuttered and moved away from me awkwardly.
“Of course, I know right. Meanwhile you care so much about me Adam!”
“I… I like you as a friend” He blurted.
“You like me as a friend” I repeated after him.
“That's all. I swear, there's nothing more” He added but I gave him a doubting look.
“I didn't even realize that I cared so much, that I was getting closer to you, I didn't realise I was being Extra” Adam tried to make me believe him and I nodded as if I did.
“I had better get going now” He headed to the door in a jiffy but I spoke before he stepped out.
“I have had enough situationship. There's Zane and there is Finn, please put an end to whatever feelings you have for me else we might end up loosing our friendship” I told Adam.
He didn't say anything, he trembled like was tryna process what I have just said then he finally walked out of the office.
I took a deep sigh and continued working without letting the conversation I have just had with Adam bother me.
Soon Evelyn came in.
“Oh finally, welcome assistant birthday girl. Did you meet your boyfriend on your way?”
“Adam? Was he here just now? I'll go say Hi to him soon” At the mention of her boyfriend, her face normally beams.
“Yeah, he was here to see you too” I said with no intention to narrate all that happened.
“Oh” She drew nearer to me. “How is your health, how do you feel now?” She placed her palm on my forehead.
“I am fine, thank you”
“Not after drinking a whole lot for a first timer, I thought you were gonna die” I noticed a hint on her face that she had panicked.
“I got better especially after almost vomitting out my intestine. Next time, never let me drink okay?” I warned and she smirked.
“Catch you later” She left the office.
I knew she was headed to Adam's department.

I must admit that one of my favourite part while working is piling up some files and taking them to Finn's office. I almost barked at Evelyn when she offered to take them to him herself. Also, I could have gone to see Finn anytime I wanted but I didn't wanna make it obvious to Evelyn or anyone yet that something is going on between us; or maybe I also wanted to kill two birds with a stone.
“I peeped on you today, you didn't notice” Finn said when I asked in.
“Really?” I smiled.
“I can't help but to continue admiring you” He flattered me.
I blushed heavily as I drew nearer to where he sat.
Finn got on his foot, came closer and sat on his desk while I stood right in front of him.
He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer to him in a way that I was on the same height level with him. Literally, I found myself romantically captivated by him.
Finn leaned forward and sniffed around my neck and his warm breath grazed my skin. He leaned back slightly in such a way that his lips was just inches from mine.
His proximity caught me off guard, I already shut my eyes and pouted my lips but then, he asked instead.
“What brand of perfume do you use?”
I opened my eyes, a little embarrassed.
I rolled my eyes inwardly but as if he had noticed it, his lips curled into a playful smile as he sat upright; straightened himself.
“Enchantress” I replied, disappointedly. I didn't come here to answer some questions.
“Enchantress suits you” He complimented.
Hmmn, we exchanged a knowing glance, acknowledging the unspoken intensity that was passing through us. Me, especially.
“And the gown” He checked me out, allowing himself a moment to take in my attractive appearance.
He had always loved whenever I dressed gorgeously, which was why I wore this lovely outfit to the office today, for him.
His finger traced the fabric of my gown, practically sliding his hands on my curvy hipline. His touch lingered more than necessary that it turned me on a little more than a care for admit.
I already knew, coming to his office was way more than just submitting some files and leaving not after the last encounter. I came fully prepared actually.
Finn leaned in once again, his lips now dangerously close to mine. Again, I felt his sweet mint breath on my face, intoxicating me further to get possibly closer than we already are.
I placed my both hands on his shoulder; over his neck.
“Just kiss me already” I whispered breathlessly when he wasn't making any move to do so soon.
I stared at him lasciviously and he smiled.
Just when I wanted to kiss him instead, he withdrew his lips and moved backward.
“Why not?” I queried.
Anticipation already hung heavily in air with taste of possiblity on my tongue.
He shook his head in negation as he moved away from me and returned to his seat.
“Oh I see! You are playing on me now? I thought you said you love me” My eyes and my voiced laced up with evident frustration and disappointment.
“Yeah, I love you so much” Finn said.
“No, you are leading me on now that you are aware of how I truly feel about you”
“You are the one who is leading me on Rita. Last time, you said we are nothing yet. You said you will come to me once you are done with your boyfriend, you have no idea how much that hurt me” He continued. “I really wanna define my relationship with you but you don't”
He was right, although I loved him, it was more like I was using him to satisfy all the physical touch I've yearned for in spite of the fact that we both enjoyed it and our chemistry is undeniable.
I was gonna finally tell him : “Yes, I wanna be with you now and forever. Let's start a relationship and take it to the next level” but the door was flung open suddenly and Charles walked in.
“Greetings” He raised his voice like a tout.
He was just arriving at this time of the day. Oh good, he didn't catch us in such act anyways.
“Hello beauty” Charles said to me.
“Hi Charles, you came in when I was just about to leave anyways” I headed to the door awkwardly.
“Inform me whenever you are less busy, I have something to tell you” Charles said.
“Huh? Me? You mean me?” I pointed to myself and he nodded.
“Haha, sure. Later” I exited the office.
