Rita’s POV
“Hey baby girl” I mimicked his muscular voice then laughed out loud, he only chuckled.
“How are you, baby girl?” Zane asked.
“I’m doing just fine and how are you too?”
“Oh dear, I am fine too”
“In reference to, we lost contact last night” I reminded him.
“Ye-ah, I tried to reach you but the signal was bad”
I scoffed; “Ugh! The signal is always bad on a good day”
“Hmmn well I feel it is very good, the signal cut us off last night. Rita, I’ve put you in so much pain and discomfort, it shouldn’t happen again” He suddenly grumbled.
“Nothing is discomforting about it. See, I’m over the shyness. And did I perform well, do you love it?” I asked excitedly but he took a while before he replied.
“Yeah.. I did” He answered under his breath.
“I hope we do it again another time” I suggested eagerly and actively.
“No Rita, I think I’m turning you into something else, I think we should stop s*x chatting already. You were all naive and innocent when we started this relationship” I cannot believe that he was complaining.
“But… this is what we both want. We’ve got flesh, we are not logs of wood”
“You are right, I.. I love...it. I understand it’s normal for a first timer like you to continuously yearn for physical touch and physical intimacy. I think you are taking it too far and fast” He said.
“Huh?! Physical touch and physical intimacy?” I repeated, I thought those words were made up by Janet Johnson and I only.
Perhaps Janet Johnson told him my strengths and weaknesses.
Zane coughed and continued; “I am not complaining okay? I feel guilty for this strange sexual behavior of yours” He said.
“Zane, I told you I wanted to learn and grow. To start with, I’ve outgrown shyness and naiveness. And I do not regret showing you my body” I said.
“Uhm, alright. If you insist “ He said reluctantly. “I have something to tell you,” He added.
“What is it again dear?”
“Erm, err-r… about my face”
“Oh, Oh!” I mumbled, I cannot believe that he was ready to tell me:
“You didn’t show me your face during the last video call” I muttered.
“Yeah, I… I’m sorry, I know you expected it”
“Feel free, let me see your face when you want me to” I tried not to sound anxious enough.
“Actually Rita, I will be having a surgery soon”
“Surgery?” I exclaimed, pretending like I wasn't aware. “Are you ill Zane?”
“I.. I am slightly disabled” He sighed and continued; “ I am ready to let you know why I have been hiding my face”
I didn't say anything.
“I am not every girl’s kinda guy. I look really unattractive. I had an accid…” I interrupted him.
“Say no more, you are my kind of guy no matter what you look like and I am glad you confessed to me yourself”
“I feel relieved now”
I giggled; “Looks like you would be getting the facial surgery before I come visit you”
“You wanna pay me a visit?”
“Oops, was supposed to be a surprise, remember?”
“Good you informed me ahead, I am about to embark on a tiring business trip to Netherlands shortly after having the surgery, my boss chose me to come along with him”
“Business trip? Netherlands?” I muttered. “Why are you just telling me this, Zane?” I asked.
“I was gonna tell you Rita” He said but I cut in sharply.
“When exactly?” I didn’t realize that I was raising my voice.
“Rita, we haven’t had enough time for ourselves, just yesterday when we clicked again, we did something else” He said.
I sighed; “You should have informed me ahead, somehow. I have been looking forward to meet you”
“Uhm, me too” He responded coldly; “Once I get the surgery soonest, Netherland way immediately”
“Ugh! I planned to visit the immigration office on friday, but it has now been canceled. I also have to inform my boss that I am not taking the break anymore” I said, disappointedly.
“Yes, dear. Please do that. Till we meet”
“So winter it is, till winter like you have said”
“Yeah”
I sighed heavily, trying to process the situation and at the same time, trying to calm my nerves down.
“So can I hang up the call now?” Zane asked.
“What? Why? Why so soon?”
“I am very busy Rita, against the task ahead of me” He grumbled.
“Oh all right. So let’s call it a night, I guess”
“Yes, please” He answered kinda harshly and he hung up the call instantly. Without saying ‘I love you’, or ‘good night’, or ‘sweet dreams’ or anything romantic. He disconnected the call just like that because the task he has ahead is more important than me in his life?
Maybe I just needed to be patient with him.
