Zayden’s POV

‘Luna...Luna is in danger.’, I didn’t know who said that but I heard it. ‘Alpha, please do something or Luna Grace might die at the end.’, Someone sobbed near me.
Grace?
My sweetheart!
Fear quickly engulfed me, swallowing me whole. My heart hammed loudly against my chest as my brain tried to catch up with the emotions attacking me all at once after the news which I just heard. I tried to open my eyes but was failing miserably.
‘Dominic’, I cried for his help.
I couldn’t feel anything related to my mate because my wolf was still in his deep sleep but the fact that Grace was in danger was forcing me to open my eyes. I had to save her, I had to keep her protected.
‘Dominic, you mutt, wake up otherwise we will lose Grace just like we lost Jennifer.’, I cried, feeling desperate to protect Grace.
And finally, I opened my eyes.

The scene in front of me was a bloody mess, after my wolf killed the leader of the rogues, all the other werewolves ran away. Dominic was full of rage, I couldn’t stop him even if I wanted to, not that I did. As soon as we had witnessed Grace being thrown into the air, we had both snapped and so he didn’t stop until they were all brutally killed.
They had hurt my sweetheart, my Grace. Their death was too easy for the pain they had inflicted upon her. In one swift motion, I placed on the shorts which Theo had brought for me and hurried to her side. She was lying motionless on the ground, her bloody hair covering her face and I gently reached over and pushed it back, there was blood all over her face, I felt the anger resurfaced at the sight of her and controlled the urge to howl in anger and frustration.
I gently picked her up into my arms, holding her close to my chest.
“I am sorry, brother.”, Allison apologized, bowing her head in guilt. “I couldn’t protect her.”
While I wanted to be angry at her and blame her for not protecting Grace, I knew I couldn’t, besides the fact that she was outnumbered, the truth remained that I was the one to be blamed. Dominic nodded in agreement, he blamed us for what happened and was just pissed on ourselves.
“You tried your best, Allison.”, I said to make her feel good. At the same time, Alpha Craig arrived there and looked angry by observing the injuries of Allison. She was badly injured with bite marks all over her body, looking at her I could see she was struggling to stand but I was less worried for her because she was a werewolf and would heal at an abnormal rate.
I saw Alpha Craig, picking her in his arms. Others might call him heartless but I could see the concern in his eyes for Allison.
“Evan”, he roared in anger when Allison was finally in his arms.
“Yes...Yes Alpha!”, His beta approached near him in fear.
“I had asked you to keep your Luna safe. Then how the hell, she get so many injuries.?”, he demanded in anger.
“This...this all happened because of that human.”, Evan replied in a disapproving tone. My gaze darkened, this was not the time for him to be testing my patience. I knew that Alpha Craig was going to lose his beta for insulting my sweetheart but before I could have said anything Allison beat me. And I was grateful that she did since I was more than ready to rip his throat apart with the burning rage inside me.
“The human as you call her.”, She snapped. “Is the Luna of this pack and as much as I risked my life to protect her, she did the same to save mine. She had never harmed any insect but today she tried to fight with wolves that were attacking me, even after knowing that she was no match in front of them. Instead of timid and weak compared to a wolf, she bravely latched onto one of them and stabbed him, not letting go until she was forced to be thrown in the air by another. Dare you to disrespect her again, and I swear I will kick you out of the pack because very soon I am going to be Luna of your pack.”
My chest swelled with pride at her words. I cradled her closer to my chest as I watched the amazed gazes of my pack members as well as Alpha Craig’s pack warriors who had assembled around us at Allison’s word. I knew that my pack members would love and adore Grace because of her kind behavior but now I could feel each of their respect for her grow.
Allison was well-loved by my entire pack. And now she was going to be the Luna of another pack so the fact that Grace risked her own life to save her was a big deal.
“It’s good to see Alpha.”, Eric said. “The doctor is already here.”, he added to which I hummed in response.
I placed Grace on my bed and noticed something which widened my eyes.
‘Are you thinking the same thing?’, Dominic said, observing the mark on Grace’s neck
‘Yes! It should have healed by now but...but it is still fresh.’
‘It means only one thing, Zayden.’
‘Shit!’
