Grace’s POV
(So here it goes, I am finally sharing Grace’s point of view)

A steady beeping pulled me out of the darkness that surrounded me. But where am I?
I opened my eyes and quickly closed it because of the excess light and again opened it after adjusting it according to the light. It took a few blinks but eventually, I could look around the room. Wires and needles covered my skin, sending messages to the machine that woke me.
A man was sitting in an uncomfortable-looking chair and I was surprised and a bit confused to see him here.
“Eric, what are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be with Zayden?”, I asked and the beeping machine sped up. Eric quickly rushed to me.
“Thank god, Luna, that you are doing well now.”, He whispered, looking at me.
I narrowed my eyes wondering why he said so until I recalled the last thing which I had heard. “Where is Zayden?”, I groaned as I tried to sit up.
I observed Eric avoiding my gaze. My heart dropped to my toe and once again that stupid machine started beeping wildly in response.
“I am asking something, Eric.”
“Let the doctor look over you and I will take you to him.”, He replied, still avoiding my gaze.
“What are you hiding, Eric?”
“I have linked the doctor. She will be here anytime soon.”, That’s the response I received to my question. I knew that I was stupid but I was not that stupid to understand the simple thing, he was hiding something from me.
Something was wrong that I knew for sure. Zayden would have been here if he was okay and the fact that Eric didn’t tell me where he was had made me more worried than I already was.
Tears started welling in my eyes. The last thing Zayden and I did was fight. I accused him of marking me without my consent. I also told him that I hate him which I don’t. A few more tears rolled down my cheek.
“Luna, beta”, A woman with golden hair and a white coat entered the room, bowing her head slightly before approaching me.
“How are you feeling now, Luna? Any pain or nausea?”, I shook my head in response to her question. She asked a few more questions and checked my vitals before speaking, “Everything looks good, Beta. She fell unconscious because of the mate bond effects but I will suggest her to take rest by observing the current situations.”, Eric nodded understandingly but I was confused.
‘What does she mean by I fell unconscious because of the mate bond effects?’, I wondered but didn’t ask Eric, knowing he wouldn’t answer me anyway.
“I wish it was under different circumstances, but nonetheless, it was a pleasure to meet you, Luna.”, The doctor bowed her head to me and then left quickly.
“Where is Zayden, Eric?”, I asked, controlling my anger.
“I will take you near him.”, He answered this time and helped me to stand from the bed. He then let go once I could hold my own weight. “Alpha might have told you that Luna is equal to Alpha in every way?”, He asked out of nowhere. I nodded my head in response because yes, Zayden had told me about it. But I always felt that this sentence applies when Luna is also a werewolf. How could a human Luna be equal to Alpha?
Eric stopped outside a door and his hand hesitated at the doorknob. “The doctors are trying their best and I am positive that soon he will be alright and will keep ordering me around.”, he said to enlighten the mood but trust me it didn’t work out not even a bit.
Zayden’s dirty way to enlighten the situation was great. I had never admitted this before but I had started liking this pervert’s nature and dirty jokes.
Everything looked like it moved in slow motion. The door swung open and my eyes landed on the still figure on the bed. My breath hitched as I looked over him.
I quickly reached near him and saw this was not the Zayden I knew.
This Zayden was pale, with dark circles under his eyes. His lips were a light shade of blue as if he was poisoned. I could see bruises on his chest and face. I rang my fingers in his messy black hair and lightly down to his cheeks.
“What..what happened to him exactly?”
“The doctors have found poison in his body which has blocked his wolf and without his wolf the healing process of the Alpha has slowed down.”
“Dominic..”, I whispered his wolf name.
“Don’t worry, Luna. The doctors think this is temporary. But the question is who fed poison to Alpha?”, he asked, more like a question to himself.
I didn’t pay attention to his question, just kept staring at this lifeless Zayden.
“I know this incident came in front of you all of the sudden but it’s the time when you have to take your responsibility as Luna.”
I immediately looked at Eric as if he had grown three heads or what?
“When the Alpha is away or busy, the Beta takes over. However, that’s the case only if there is no Luna in the pack. But since Alpha has already marked you, you have to take the responsibility in your hand.”
‘He got to be kidding me? Me? A human taking responsibilities of the pack?’, My eyes widened at that thought. I looked at Zayden, trying to find the best way to say NO.
‘Okay! I agree that being his mate might have made me Luna but that doesn’t change the fact that I am a human. I can’t lead the pack of wolves or werewolves to be specific.’
“I know what you might have been thinking but I just want you to know that Alpha always believed in you that you will be the best Luna for his pack. Do you really think that this thought wouldn’t have crossed his mind?”, Eric asked.
I kept staring at Zayden. I knew he trusted me and wanted just me by his side as his luna, even after knowing that I was nothing but just a weak fragile human. My heart swelled at that thought.
“Okay! But I can’t do it without your help.”, I said and a soft smile appeared on Eric’s lips.
‘Can I run from this situation? Maybe not! This is part of my life now.’, I said to myself, though I was feeling hell scared right now.
“I will ask Allison to arrange a Luna ceremony. So, we can introduce you to the whole pack.”, he said before leaving the room. I looked at Zayden and recalled how he used to say about introducing me to the pack members. I used to feel scared even at that time with the thought of facing thousands of wolves.
‘Why are you feeling scared? I will be standing by your side, sweetheart.’, That used to be his words. But now, I would have to face everyone all alone.
“Please get better as soon as possible. I need you.”, I said and kissed his cheek gently. “I promise. I will never fight with you.”, I whispered and kept looking at him.
“Grace!”, I heard a knock at the door.
“Come in, Ally.”
She came inside and looked at me and then her brother and then spoke, “Eric has called for the meeting. The pack will gather in an hour. You should get ready.”
“Ally…”, tears started welling in my eyes. She reached near me and gave a weak smile. “He is a fighter. Don’t worry about him but as for now, you will have to act strong.”
“Hmm”, I nodded, wondering whether it was possible for me! As we walked out of the room, with one final glance at Zayden’s still figure.
‘I promise to make this day, as your biggest nightmare, Grace. Now, let me see who will be saviour?’, Sarah thought after observing everything which was happening around.
