Maryam's POV
\\\Three months Later///
I woke up early today just to make Aunty happy,since daddy asked me to always make her happy I've been trying my best to do that
Just that sometimes she do eat my food and sometimes she get angry and said some mean word to me,but still I always try to follow my heart. The only thing I keep telling my self is that she's still angry at my Dad and I'm ready to correct the mistake.Even though I'm still very young, I promise to always make her happy
I cooked her favorite food,I finished everything and set it on the dinning table then I walk up to their room,I click and open it slowly peeping to see if they're awake but they both seem to slump into a deep sleep
"Daddy!" I whispered to his ear but the most funniest part is that he only smile and turn to the other side
"Oh no!" I thought face palming my self
"Daddy" I whispered again shaking him a little coz I didn't want to wake her up
He opened his eyes and ask looking so confused "Maryam?"
"Yes Daddy" I replied smiling
"You...you're here? What are you doing here?"
"I prepared her favorite " I whispered back
"You did?" He ask and I nod
"OK, so should I wake her up?"
"No Daddy can you please go out for some minute? I'll bring the food to her in here"
"You sure about that? Are you sure you can do this alone?"
"Yes Daddy"
"Alright then" he said standing up as we both leave the room
"Aunty" I called waking her up
"Jawad can you please lemme sleep Peacefully " she said smiling
What's wrong with the two of them? First daddy and now? She?
"Aunty it's me Maryam can you please open your eyes for the moment?"
"Maryam?" She said opening her eyes
"Good morning Aunty" I said smiling to her
"Morning what are you doing here?"
Did she just answer me? Oh my God! This is a great sign! Does this means she likes me now? For the past six month that I've been living in this house, this is the first time she would answer my greetings genuinely
"I....I prepared you your favorite"
"You did?! OK then lemme see it?"
I quickly ran and brought the food to her,she smile as she inhaled the aroma
"Wow! Did you cook this?"
"Yes Aunty"
"Maryam take a sit,I really need to talk to you" she said and I did as I was told
Then she started "You see I won't ask of forgiveness from you but I really appreciate all what you've been doing these past few months that you've been living with us,I hate you not because of you but because of your father and mother,I know I did so many things to you but don't think that may be because I'm doing good to you now doesn't mean I still like you,coz I don't
Your father caused me so much pain which is very hard to forget"
"That's why I'm trying to make you happy,I heard that my Dad did something bad to you but Aunty I promise I'll pay for my Daddy's mistakes, I promise I'll make sure to always make you happy"
"Maryam you can't do that! You can never make me happy! your father caused me so much sorrow and pain,which is very hard to forget, yeah I might have forgiven him but I can't forget what he did to me
So stop trying to make effort on making me to be happy coz I will never be till I see my child again,I won't stop bullying you till I find my daughter"
"I know aunty and I'm ready to take all your punishment, but please just don't push me away, you and daddy are the only family I have left......or may be you can see me as your daughter" I said hoping she can do that
She looked at me for some moment before saying "Can you please Leave?" But I didn't fail to see the tears falsing to drop
I nod and left her room
"So how was it? Did she get angry again?"
"No Daddy but she said she can't forgive me coz my Daddy has caused her a lot of pain"
"Really?"
"Yes Daddy"
"You know what? let continue praying that she change her mind someday"
"Me too Daddy"
"Go get dress coz I'll go get dress too I'm dropping you to school"
"Yay! OK Daddy" I said squealing running to my room
"Maryam take these cupcakes give it to Mrs Lubabatu in your school tell her I'll come for the money ending of the month...OK?" She said sternly
"OK Aunty"
"And thank you for the food,its really tasty"
"You're welcome Aunty"
"Alright then you two should take care" she said to both me and Daddy
"Did you see that?" Daddy asked me once we hop into his car
"Yes Daddy"
"I think she's having a soft spot for you already"
"Yes...I hope so too Daddy"

"Yes Mrs Lubabatu"
"Someone wants to meet you"
"Me?"
"Yes"
"Meet Mrs Abdulazeez she's one of the supporter who sponsor some kids in this school"
"Really? Good Morning Ma'am" I said greeting the beautiful woman
"Morning dear how are you doing?"
"I'm fine Ma, how about you?"
"I'm good too what a brilliant girl.....shéy Òmó yorubá nié ni? (Are you from the Homeland Yoruba?)
"Bééni Ma Òmó yorubá ni mí (Yes Ma I'm a Yoruba girl)"
"Wow! From which state?"
"Kwara State Ma"
"That's good...well you see I'm also a Yoruba woman but my husband is a Fulani Man. What class are you? And how old are you?"
"I'm in primary four and I'm seven years old"
"Wow! That's so good! So I heard it's your Mom who made this cupcakes is that true?"
'Yes Ma'am but I make it sometimes too"
"So you mean you can make cupcake at this your age?!"
"Yes Ma"
"OK then I pray someday I can learn making cupcakes from you"
"Insha Allah if God will...."
"Take this little change dear"
"No Ma thank you"

I'm sorry Ma but my parent didn't brought me up like that.....bye Ma, I'm sorry I'll be late to class"
" No problem my dear i understand....Bye dear" she said lovingly
"On my way going I heard her telling Mrs Lubabatu that she likes me "She's such a brilliant and cheerful girl" I smile at what she says before going into my class
