I called my love and she picked the call just for the first ring as if she was waiting for my call.
"Hi my love, what are you doing?"
"Should I say the truth or lie?"
"Anything that you wish to say," I said smiling.
"Thinking about someone who is so important in my life and you disturbed me," she said making my smile fade.
"Who is that important to you? Am I a disturbance to you?" I said seriously.
She laughed as if I cracked a joke.
"Hello, tell me who is that person?"
"I won't tell you because you are jealous," she said teasing me.
"Your sister?" I asked playing a guess game.
"No, not related to my parental family," she said.
"Then? Please don't say it's some friend, by any chance is it your pen friend?" I asked with a smile finally guessing that she was talking about me but no one else. I mean who will be more important for her except her husband? I am sure she is talking about her husband.
"What the hell are you thinking, Ashu? How can someone other than you can be more important to me?" She shouted with a choked tone.
Why is crying? That's what I said. Her pen friend. Oh my God! What did I do? Of course, she doesn't know that it's me, so obviously she will get hurt.
"I am sorry, baby."
"I can't talk now, Ashu. I will talk after becoming normal."
She disconnected the call without listening to me.
Hey Ashu, what have you done yaar? You just hurt her. Idiot Ashu. You are really a stupid. How did you forget that Rudrani doesn't know that you are her pen friend? Now she misunderstood you thinking that you are doubting her. I think it's time to reveal that I am her pen friend. As soon as she returns, I will reveal it. Will she understand me or feels as if she was cheated as I played dual role in her life? But I think I must reveal it.
I tried calling her but she cut the call making me understand her anger. I kept on calling her to irritate her.
"Ashu, please give me sometime. I will call you back," Rudrani shouted.
"I love you," I said cutting off her words.
"Just now you showed your love," she said sarcastically.
"I love your when you are angry with me. When you scold me, I feel to stop you by savoring my favourite strawberry sundae."
"Enough Ashu, I will cut the call," she said with a voice that stammered due to blushing.
"I trust you baby. You are my love and doubting you is something which I can't even imagine. I said that is it your pen friend because I know it well that you admire your pen friend as he inspired you many times and implanted the seed of confidence in you. Even I am grateful to him for being with my love when she is all alone and lost her charm," I said.
"You can't understand me, Ashu. I agree that I admire my pen friend but I love you. My thoughts always wander around you. You are the one who occupies my mind everytime I am free," she said making me really happy.
I felt it as a blessing to be loved by her to that extent.
"Anyways I will call you later," Rudrani said again seriously.
"Wait my love, if you disconnect my call without talking to me now, I won't hesitate to visit you the very next day. Then your medical camp turns into our honeymoon trip. Decide yourself," I said teasing her.
"You are really a crazy monkey," She scolded me.
"And you know well about this monkey."
"Okay tell me my dear monkey hubby, did you finish your lunch?"
"Yes but I miss the dessert after the lunch. I should wait for a week to have it."
"Ashu, if you talk like this, I can't speak."
"Aww so is my angel blushing?" I teased her.
"I will cut the call now," She said cutely.
"Okay, I won't tease you anymore. Tell me did you finish your lunch?"
"Yes, just before an hour."
"Good. Call me as soon as you reach your destiny. Don't switch off the mobile, sweetheart. Take care of yourself. I won't disturb your work for today but you can call me anytime if you are free."
"I love you, Ashu."
"I love you too."
I disconnected the call and went back to my work. Five days passed so hardly without my princess. She used to call me every morning and night. I never thought her love will be that sweet and caring. I was mesmerised with her love. I called her and her mobile was switched off. I left to college and returned home in the evening. I called her again and again but still she didn't receive the call n it's switched off.
Is she fine? Why did she switch off her mobile from the morning? Rudrani, why do you scare me like this?
I called her again and she received the call.
"Are you insane? Where are you till now? Didn't I tell you not to switch off your mobile? You are irritating me, Rudrani. You will see my wrath next time, if you didn't listen to me. I don't know what I will do when you return if you scare me like this. Understand?Don't test my patience or I will lock you at home, then you will understand," I shouted at her.
I didn't want to curtail her freedom and I want to set her free. That's why I sent her for camp but she doesn't know how much I worry about her every second when she is away from me. I love her and if anything happens to my love, I can't live. I didn't know how to explain her my tension and love.
"Hello Rudrani, speak something," I said but call was disconnected. I called again and it's switched off now.
Is my angel fine? What's wrong with her? I sat on the couch holding my head. Whole day, she didn't receive my call and her mobile was switched off. Next day, I went to her college and took the number of her faculty who accompanied them to camp. I reached home and called to her faculty requesting to pass the call to her.
"Hello," she said slowly.
"What happened to your mobile? Why are you so irresponsible, Rudrani? If there is any problem, you should inform me, right? Why did you disconnect my call?" I asked controlling my anger.
What if she cuts the call again? I should talk carefully.
"I didn't cut your call." She said.
"Then?"
"Here there is no signals for the network I use. I didn't mean to scare you."
"Can't you make a call from someone's mobile to inform me? Don't you know that I will be tensed about you?"
"I am not a kid."
"Not just for kids, women has no safety in this world."
"Hmm."
I understood that she was not replying properly. Is she angry with me for shouting at her yesterday? But I was worried about my love.
"Are you angry with me?"
"No," she replied.
"Then why are you not talking properly?"
"Ashu, why do you become angry instantly if I didn't receive call or go anywhere? I should have freedom, right?"
I am not angry my love, I was worried and tensed about you. Sometimes even caring will be misunderstood as restrictions and anger. I stayed silent listening to her and she stopped suddenly.
"Ashu, I didn't mean to hurt you...."
She tried to explain me.
"No no my love. Don't explain me, I can understand. If it's not with me then with whom will you share your feelings? Feel free to talk to me. You can love me, care for me, scold me, fight with me. Actually I am not angry with, I am scared. I am happy to know that you are safe. Call me at least once when u are free. I love you, baby."
"Thank you, Ashu. I love you too."
"I miss you, baby."
"I miss you too, monkey," She whispered the last word.
"I wish I could be a monkey to climb on trees and reach you soon," I sighed.
She laughed at once hearing my words and sigh.
"Keep smiling like this. I love your smile. Bye baby, take care."
"Bye, take care Ashu."
For next two days, she called me from somone's mobile. Today as she said, may be by evening she will return to me. Getting a call from my friend, I went to meet him. I returned in the afternoon and settled in the sofa feeling tired.
Suddenly I heard the sound of bangles. Before I could realise, I heard the sound of anklets. I smiled and turned back to find my angel standing over there near the door. I went to her and hugged her.
"I missed you so much. When did you return?"
"Just before two hours. I missed you too, Ashu."
"How was the camp? Did you enjoy it?"
"Camp went well and I learnt a lot."
"Take rest today. Tomorrow I have a surprise for you."
Rest of the day, I enjoyed chitchatting with my love. Next day, I took her in my car with a blindfold to her eyes. I took her to our new flat and untied her blind fold. This flat was constructed and decorated according to her taste.
"How is the flat, sweetheart?"
"It's amazing. Are we shifting here?"
"Yes, may be on my birthday, we both will be shifting here."
"Both? Do you mean mom and dad won't be with us?"
"Yes Rudrani. After marriage, we struggled a lot to create bonding between us. Now only if we spend some lone time, we can't become more close."
Before I could complete, she went off from there and stood near the car.
"Rudrani, what happened? Aren't you happy with my surprise?"
"No, I am not. I don't like the idea of staying away from mom and dad. I can't do that, Ashu. How can you think that I will accept this?" Rudrani said shocking me.
She left to the home without listening to me.
