Within The Cave-Originals Chapter 39

I rush out of the hospital. I might not have Nicklaus contact, but I know a way to call him out for help. Thank goodness, he's told me that secret last night after he laid me onto the pavement. Out of the hospital, I brace myself as I see an incoming car, racing with high speed. As it gets closer, I jump in front of it instantly. Its blaring horn brings me back to my senses, making me realize that what if this doesn't work, and instead, I get rammed. The horns still rips into my ears, and as I see that the car's beginning to get welcomed, few distance away from me as its tires screech, I quickly jump backwards to the pavement. "Fuck you, bitch!" Yells the driver as he manages; to maintain the stability of the wheels of his car, to maintain, not smashing into another car, and to maintain not have a critical accident. Luckily for him and me, he gains his equilibrium and drives down the street, safely. On my part, I'm heaving heavily, thankful that I didn't cause another man's — perhaps, someone father's — death. My heart is beating twice than when I knew that Dad has met with a fatal accident. I shake, my limps and fingers forget how to stop shivering. With my heart racing ups and downs, I turn to the hospital again to see Nicklaus there, at the front doorway, looking at me with an expression, if I don't know any better will call...stunned? His eyes flare, and fixate their gaze on me, who's just beginning to calm. "Hi." I begin with. "Remind me a thousand time if you have to to give you my contact before we depart again." He says, his voice a little tiny. He must be quite shock too. "I will. Guess you're not the only one with surprises?" I ask instead. His face is still pale. When isn't it always pale? "This was huge." He pauses. "I'll call Father right away." He says, leaving me with an unknowing look before I understand that it seems he can read my mind as well. Wait... you sure he can? Of course, he can. I tell my subconscious and she agrees with a nodding. Nicklaus Father, doctor Aaron, who looks so young that, well, with his more mature way of posture, could be called Nicklaus' brother. He looks so young. I remember that time when I first get into Franklin, and saw doctor Aaron, picking up his children. Nicklaus and Adeline. His hair hasn't changed still, still possessing the long waves of dirty blonde hair that drawls back his neck just to rest on his shoulder. His eyes were though different from the colours I saw that day, this one is of sandy-brown. He's changed into his uniform. "Nicklaus had told me things about you. However this isn't the time to talk about them—" as he says, I sweep off from the moment as much as it's immediate and needs my undivided attention. Damn! He looks like a damn Greek god. Why? How could people be this handsome? But then again, I recall the words of Nicklaus. They don't seem too human from the way he's told me things. Humans can't hear someone else's raised heartbeat from afar. Not even from close up. To the case: the way his father talks is so mesmerizing, making me remember that Nicklaus is truly his son, for he gains this attributes from doctor Aaron. His face is so chiseled, more than Nicklaus'. So cute at the same time. It's like I'm seeing a version of those prince in shining armours cartoon in form of a non-animated scene. "Rayne?" Nicklaus voice calls me back to the present. I startle in my standing position and look at him. Damn handsome too. "Father says that you tell your mother to stay at the waiting room. He needs to heal your father differently. That means, not medically." He tells me. I nod, still in a drooling and hypnotic state. His father has his own type of oh-so-misceivous smirk. "It's normal for her to act this way — confused — Nicklaus." Nicklaus huff, and rolls his eyes. "This is one of our powers inclusions. The beauty." I nod. No wonder that applies to his son. Franklin senior high school bad boy, uh? Comics my subconscious. Exactly! "I see." Says my little voice that's now engulfed in some sort of embarrassment. I enter the room where Mom's staying with Dad's still-hurt frame and say. "Doctor Aaron is here." Mom practically jumps up. "Yeah, he's here. And ready to help Dad. You should stay behind, you know, in case you can't stand it when the surgery begins. I'll stay with them." I try to convince her and hope it works. "No, I..." I take advantage of her stutter. "Mom, you can't. See yourself. Let me stay, okay?" I say, and she nods. As she leaves the room, opening the door, Nicklaus and his father enters. Mom gives doctor Aaron a pleading look as she says the one word; "Please." "He will be fine." He assures her. Once Mom has left, Nicklaus Father approaches the bed, examining Dad and his injured rib area. "This is fatal." He looks up at his son, telling Nicklaus. "Do you think either the Ryders, or the Infant did this?" He's talking to Nicklaus, I get it, but I just can't stay like a third wheel. "I don't think—" "Who are the Ryders, and...an infant?" I shake my head, bewildered. "Are we talking about a small child here? Can a small child do this somehow?" "I thought you said she knows." That was Nicklaus' Father talking to his son, both of them, ignoring my questioning comment. "Not fully Father. I haven't told her most." And, he shift his alluring eyes on me. "I thought we are past this. You promised." Right. I huff, knowing it's the truth. Remind me why I promised in the first place? "Okay, fine." I say.
