Good thing Amber hadn't gone too far in her act and Clara doesn't look as angry as I expected she would be. I hope Amber is now able to understand what I have been able to explain to her all this time. I don't want her to be an obstacle between Clara and me.
"You must be tired. Let's go inside and I will get you somewhere to sleep," I tell her but she doesn't reply. She must really be exhausted.
I carry her off the ground into my arms. She just leans in closer into my chest and closes her eyes. I don't think twice before I enter the house and take her directly to my bedroom. i know there are many spare bedrooms in the house, but I prefer that she is in here. I hope she doesn't mind resting in my room.
I place her gently on the bed and she immediately opens her eyes. She gives me a crooked smile which makes her so adorable and kissable. Gosh, Give the girl a break! You'll scare her away, my subconscious warns me.
"This is your bedroom, right?" she asks me with a hint of amusement clear in her voice.
"Yes, if you don't mind," I respond.
"I can tell. It smells so much like you. I can wait to soak into these sheets," she tells me and then chews on her lower lip. God! I am starting to wonder who between us really needs to give the other a break.
"Go to sleep Clara," I order her while throwing the duvets over her body. She is still wearing my coat. I have to check on the girls if they have anything she can put on when she wakes up.
"Won't you join me?" she asks me.
"No," I reply.
"Please," she asks while batting her long lashes.
"No," I reply without thinking about it.
"I promise I won't touch you," she decides to attack from another angle. Pretty clever, huh?
"I am not scared of that," I tell her.
"Okay," she says and shrugs. She closes her eyes and throws the duvet over her shoulders. Whoa! That was easy!
"Okay?" I ask her and she doesn't move.
"Good night, Clara," I say and get on my feet. Just as I am about to step away from the bed, she grabs my hand.
"And where do you think you are going?" she asks me. A silly grin spreads across my face knowing she wouldn't give up easily.
"Downstairs," I reply.
"Why?"
"Am I supposed to answer that?"
"It's a question so it has a right to have an answer," she replies.
"Look, I don't think you are ready to go to bed. It is four o'clock in the morning and you look like your day just begun," I tell her and she smiles.
"I don't know. Maybe because my mate is a vampire, I kinda started to adapt to his lifestyle," she tells me.
"If that is what you are up to, then you are just giving yourself a hard time for nothing. There is too much on the plate of adapting, much more than you can manage," I say. She can't be serious, can she?
She throws the duvet off her body and sits up. That coat! She looks so damn sexy in it. I just want to peel her out of it.
"If you help me, then I can become one of you. You know that I am here to stay, right?" she says.
"You want to be a vampire?" I can't believe she is even thinking of that. Is it even possible?
She gets on her feet and walks to me. She stands on her tiptoes and caresses my neck with her lips.
"Yes," she whispers against my neck. Her breath is so hot against my skin.
"You know very well that it is not possible," I tell her.
"Have you ever tried it?" she asks me.
"No, but I don't have to try it so as to know if it is possible or not," I answer her.
"Bite me, Damien. Mark me and make me yours," she says while sweeping her long silky hair off her shoulder and exposing her neck to me. My fangs start growing longer at the sight of the big vein pulsing with blood.
No! I have to resist the temptation. I know that this mate bond is so strong it makes us want to do whatever our bodies demand. I know Clara is not in her right state of mind. She would be very angry at me if I marked her in this state where the bond has got both of us on our high.
"No, Clara," I try to restrain myself though my fangs are so long they have started poking through my tongue.
"Why? Don't you want me?" she asks me with a hint of disappointed laced in her voice.
"What? Ofcourse I want you. I want you so bad. Hell! I just met you a few hours ago. I can't just mark you because the bond between us is at its high. Look, if you still want me to mark you when you wake up, and you are really sure about it, I will do it,"I tell her and she looks down on the floor.
"Come on, let's go to bed," I say and run my fingers down her cheeks. Maybe that is what I should have done in the first place. I lift her chin so that she can look into my eyes.
"Is that coat uncomfortable? I can find you something in my closet that you can sleep in," I ask her and she nods in response.
"Okay. I will be right back," I say and walk away.
I open the door of the closet and walk in. Surely there must be something that she could sleep in. There is a black shirt that I think will be good to go. It might be bib on her but it will do.
I walk back to her and hand her the shirt.
"This is what I could find. I know it might be a big on you," I tell.
"It's okay. It will do," she responds and starts to strip out of the coat. Gosh! I should look away and give her some privacy. But she didn't ask for it. Pervert!
"Turn around," she orders. I give her a huge silly grin before I turn to look away from her. I thought she would never ask!
After throwing on the shirt. I am given permission to look. The shirt looks better on her than it seems to look on me. It reaches a good inches above her knees. I have a good view of her sexy legs.
A coy smile spreads across her face when she catches me staring at her. I couldn't help it, I shrug.
She climbs into the bed and sits to watch me. I shake my head in disbelief. So I am next to stripe.
"I can't believe this," I murmur and undo the buttons of my shirt, one by one. I shrug out of the shirt and her eyes light up. She chews on her bottom lip so as to hide her smile.
I climb into the bed and pull her into my chest. She fits just perfect. This is how it should be.
"You smell so good, Damien," she murmurs against my chest and starts to caress my shoulder. I close my eyes and try to keep my hands still.
"You promised not to touch, remember?" I say and she chuckles.
"Okay," she says and wraps her hands tightly around me.
"Good night," I say, but she doesn't reply. She must be asleep already. She snores softly against my chest and mumbles something incoherent in her sleep. She looks so peaceful in her sleep, like a goddess.
She is mine, and I am going to treat her like the goddess she deserves to be. She wants to be here with me, but not out here with her pack or her family.
Wait! Does she have a family? Parents or siblings? They must be really worried about her. But the way she wanted me to take her like no one will bother looking for her.
Anyway, if they are like Clara, then well and good. We shall get along just well, but if they are like Fabian and his kind, I then damn their fate if they dare to take Clara away from me!
Enough with the negative thoughts! I tell myself and close my eyes and hope to catch up some sleep.
