Clara
Damien towel dries me and wraps a towel around my body and another one around my hair. After that, he carries me back to the bedroom and places me on the bed. That is too much pampering. By the time I get out of here, I might have forgotten how to walk!
He walks into his closet and picks out drawstring pyjama pants and a t-shirt. He throws the t-shirt onto the bed for me. That's so considerate of him. Maybe I should always carry an overnight bag whenever I come here because I don't think I will ever not be sleeping over.
Nevertheless, I like invading Damien's wardrobe. I love the way his clothes smell of him. I get the dark blue shirt and bring it to my nose so that I can breath in his mouthwatering scent.
When I look up, Damien is smiling at me. Does he know how addictive his scent is to me. I guess he doesn't judging by the the way he chuckles and shakes his head when I catch him staring.
"You can borrow it if you want," he says.
"Are you sure?" I ask him, while plans of replacing my nightmare start forming in my head.
"Ofcourse," he responds.
"Why can't you just give it to me?" I ask him.
"No, I want it back after you use it," he replies.
"Why? Is it so special?" I ask him.
"No, but it will be very special after you use it. That is why I will want it back," he tells me. I can't help but smile at his answer.
"Okay," I say and throw it on. Damien folds away the towels and comes to join me in the bed. When he sits in it, I realize that I don't have any sleep yet.
"Aren't you going to sleep? You look like your morning just started," Damien says when he notices that I am just starring at his strong chiseled jawline.
"No, I don't have any sleep. I might as well have become a nocturnal after meeting you," I tell.
"Is that so?" he says and raises an eyebrow at me.
"I think so. You know, I was serious when I talked about adapting. I think I am doing pretty well," I tell him and he chuckles.
I get out of the covers and sit on his laps. He grabs my ass and pulls me closer to his chest.
"I thought you had given up on that," he says.
"No, I am not giving up on adapting. I want to be part of you. I want to be part of your family," I tell him.
"You are already part of me. You know that you are my other half. You don't have to be a vampire to be part of my family. You belong here, Clara. Everyone here loves you just the way you are," he tells me.
"But I am the daughter of their enemy," I say and he cuts me off.
"Don't let that get into your head, Clara. My issues with your father shouldn't come between us," he says.
"I can't help it, Damien. The dark cloud always roams over us whenever we are are together. Tell me exactly what happened between you. Maybe I will be able to understand," I tell him and he shuts his eyes for a moment as if giving it a thought.
"Clara," he says.
"You don't have to tell me if you don't want to," I tell him. After what feels like forever, he opens his eyes and looks at me. His ocean blue eyes are now dark and the pain is clear in them.
I raise my hands and touch his cheeks. I caress his face and look him in the eyes.
"Damien," I call him out.
"Imagine this: a perfect life as a child with a big family to love and cherish. I was a young Vampire by then. All that mattered to me was my parents and my family. As a bloodline Vampire, my parents were also bloodline Vampires. Blood line vampires are original vampires not the turned ones. Bloodline Vampires are the only vampires who can have magical abilities," he says and then shuts his eyes. He rubs his forehead and then continues his narration.
"I was only a young Vampire when I first met Fabian, I mean your father. He was also a young and powerful Alpha. I didn't like him from the very beginning. My parents and the Clan members knew he was bad news. Werewolves and vampires were not friends but they were not enemies either. Each one of us minded our own lives.
"My Clan had secured it's territory. We roamed and hunted freely in it. Fabian's pack, however was still struggling with expanding their own territory and they ended up encroaching on ours. We took the matter lightly. Being different from the humans, we always resolved our matters quietly. That's why we mostly ignored such small issues.
"However, your father was a notorious one. He wanted to fight for the land. He wanted to prove how powerful he is. He wanted to claim our territory as his. Well, there was a lot of unoccupied land by then. He could have relocated his pack else but he wanted to prove that Vampires are nothing but walking dead.
"He made his first attempts to attack us with a very big troop of the best warriors of his pack. We didn't want a war though. We didn't want to fight with him. Why did we need a lot of land? We don't farm. We don't herd animals. We just want a private quiet place. We decided to late him take everything thing he wanted. We have actually found another good place to relocate, but Fabian was too arrogant to take anything for free. He wanted to shed blood and lose his loyal warriors just to prove to the world that he slayed a whole Clan of Vampires to get his territory.
"My father was one of the Clan leaders. He was the head of our family and all he ever wanted was the welfare of our Clan. When Fabian attacked us, we weren't even prepared. Hell! We were not even expecting him.
"During the day, the sun was scorching hot. The weak members couldn't come out to defend us. Only the bloodline Vampires came to defend our Clan and they were not enough even with their special abilities. We lost a good number of members. Both my parents were killed by Fabian. I saw him slay off their heads with my own eyes.
"I was so furious. I wanted to kill him. We reinforcement from other Clans came in, my parents were gone. We lost a lot of good family," he says in a sad voice. My eyes start to water in sympathy. The anger I have within me towards my father is no where comparable to anything right now.
"The remaining part of the family was relocated. However we couldn't just hide from like cowards. The hatred we felt for him was too much to just let him get away with what he did. We decided to attack him in the night. It was to our advantage because we are more active in the night and we were prepared. Fabian has held a small party so many people were gathered there. We fought. He lost a lot of his pack members. His father was killed to on that day. When he found out that I am the one who was leading the rebellious group, he loathed me a lot.
"We have never been at good terms ever since. We always collide and fight. We tear each other apart and our bodies mend but the torn heart can never mend," he concludes.
Tears have already started rolling down my cheeks. All this I never know what exactly happened between these two but the truth is too bitter. I don't even know whether to hate Damien for killing grandpa and my pack mate. I wasn't born then. I don't even know how he looked like.
"I am so sorry you had to go through all of this," I tell him while wiping off my tears from my face using the back of my hand.
"You don't have to apologize, Clara. What happened is not your fault," he says and wipes my tears with his thumb.
"I am sorry my father did this to you," I tell him.
"Don't cry. I didn't tell you the truth so that you can hold grudges against your father. Whatever happened was between me and him. Don't let it ruin the strong relationship you have with your father," he tells me.
After sometime of silence, Damien rolls me over so that I am laying down on the bed.
"You should go to sleep now," he tells me and I nod. I run my hand up and down his necked chest and pull him closer so that he can give me my goodnight kiss.
The kiss which is supposed to short and simple turns into a long passionate kiss filled with desire and love. I wish I could kiss all his pain away. He pulls back from the kiss and looks me in the eyes.
"Sleep," he commands and I nod. God knows how late it is. I hope I can make back home in time tomorrow. Anyway, that shouldn't bother me right now. I rest my head in his chest and cuddle up in his embrace.
I shouldn't have asked him to tell me the story tonight because all I dream of when I close my eyes is Werewolves fighting Vampires.
