Under The Moonlight: Alpha's Bride Chapter 88

Chapter 88 Xavier's Pov I had no intention of doing anything like that, but events unfolded in such a way that she believed I took advantage of her when she fainted, and I had no reason to deny when I got the role to play. I was angry at first, but anyone could feel that way when watching a shirtless guy laying next to her and her dress had already changed. The misunderstanding I didn't think about satisfying Sansa's curiosity when I was having fun teasing her. "Do you dislike it? I bought it, especially for you; in this nightgown, you look so s—." "What happened?  "What did you do to me?" She was angry. "You look more beautiful in rage; you have no idea how much I admire your beauty." I was teasing her. "Shut up!"  She screamed "I was telling you about my exciting experience," I explained sweetly. Things were not as they appeared to her; she believed I touched her without her consent while only watching her. I wore the shirt before approaching her. "Did I offend you in any way?" "How could you?" she yelled angrily while clutching my collar. "You're craving my touch by now, aren't you?" When she tested my patience, I teased her, and now it was my turn. I blocked her slap for the first time. "I guess you haven't had enough of me," I chuckled. I was exacting my vengeance on her for teasing me. She was struggling to get it out of my grasp. "Leave me alone!" she screamed angrily. "Not any longer," I shamelessly admitted. "I don't think I'd do that," "I told you to let me go!" she yelled. "Ssshhh... You are not required to notify other parties to enjoy our entertainment; otherwise, they will see more than that, our private sweet time that you do not want them to see." I didn't do any of that when she did. She tripped in her ditch, which she dug for me; I was just a minor character playing my part and going with the flow. She was desperate to break free from the grip I never wanted to leave. To get rid of me, she grabbed the lamp and threw it at me, as if she could kill me with one blow. I blocked her, as I always do. She was a daredevil at times, as well as stubborn and rebellious. "Don't you like how I have decorated our room? Do you want me to change the decor?" There was an additional level of joy in teasing her. "I would never forgive you; you will lose everything you love, everything you are proud of; I promise, I will ruin you." She said with fearless eyes—which I liked—that she was the perfect match, which I used to be upset about because I hadn't met her before. Except for Sansa, no one has ever dared confront me, argue with me, or attempt to attack me. She was someone who frequently impressed me; she was unlike any other woman in the world. "You're such a stoic; let's see what can break you and keep you right to act by your role." I snatched the lamp from her grasp and placed it on the bedside table as tears fell from her eyes. I didn't want to add to her misery. "If you want to build a wall between us, stop running, stay back, accept your fate, and live as I command, or else this will happen regularly." While her face was turned away, I said, I wanted her to be confused about the night she thought we spent together. I was attempting new tricks to change her mind and keep her close. Her hatred prevented her from facing me, even though I was the cause of her tears. "Never say I don't give you a choice," I said calmly before slamming the door and leaving the room. Her hatred was the only thing I couldn't afford; she didn't understand the connection that bound us, how deep our bond was, or how powerful the pronouncement of wonder was—it was greater than even she could imagine. On my way to Levine's room, I noticed a few pack members cleaning the mansion to make it look better. The mansion was severely damaged by wild creatures. When my father vanquished that mansion from humans four decades ago, the mansion was destroyed, and we lost our most loyal pack members. Humans were conducting various experiments on our species in a secret lab inside the mansion, somewhere we didn't know about. That mansion held many surprises. When I reached the room, some of the pack members were standing outside. looking distressed and speechless. "Xavier!"  Tearful Ruth emerged from the crowd and held my hand while silently crying; she appeared exhausted. "What happened?" When I felt the environment was strange and tense, I asked, "Lev... Levine," Ruth couldn't muster the courage to speak because she was sobbing quietly. I pushed them all away and went to Levine's room, where he was covered in blood and Kris was treating him with the assistance of a few pack members. Levine's condition was deteriorating, and he was vomiting blood, but he kept his eyes closed. "What's the matter with him?" I inquired as to when I became concerned. "You shouldn't be here," Kris said, avoiding eye contact with me while pretending to treat Levine. "Can you tell me if he's dying?" I asked Kris when the anxiety kicked in. "Clean his face of blood," Kris instructed Hamza. "Kris," I wanted to get his attention because he was constantly ignoring me. "Take Xavier outside," Kris instructed Eric. "I have no plans to leave! I'd like to get some answers." I was being obstinate. Upset, Kris threw the bloody towel to the floor and turned to face me. "He's taking his last breath, and I'm not even trying to save him when I've lost hope and can't do anything for him," Kris revealed the truth that he had been avoiding telling me. "Take action!  I beg you, do anything to save him." My voice was shaking. "It's no longer in my hands, and he has no chance of survival," Kris said, his eyes welling up with tears. My world crumbled, and my last hope faded as I watched Levine shiver in pain. He was in so much pain that I felt bad for him as I watched him suffer. Only Eric was wiping the blood away from his face. Kris placed his hand on my shoulder to express his sorrow. "I am sorry, buddy," Kris said sadly. It was time to say goodbye to the person I desperately wanted to keep by my side. He was my brother, and my lovely brother was dying while I stood there watching. The most painful thing I witnessed was his helplessness, suffering, and struggle to take a breath inside and out with pain. I started walking towards Levine with a heavy heart, forcing myself to accept reality every second. I was a fool to believe in a miracle; I should never have held out hope for Levine's recovery; it caused me heartbreak. When Levine was lying down and taking his last breath, I kneeled near the bed. "I tried to find you everywhere; I never stopped looking for you for years; there was not a day when I did not think about you, where you could be, what you were doing, how you were living," My voice was breaking as my heart grew heavier. When I felt numb, I couldn't breathe properly. I was sick of losing family members and terrified of losing the last one. "Have you ever considered returning to me? Have you ever missed me? Huh?  Answer me; I want to hear your voice for the last time; just speak to me." A single tear streamed from my eye. He did not respond, as he had done previously when walking away from me. He never returned my gaze. He was still refusing to open his eyes. I took his hand in mine and said, "I was always envious of you when our parents paid more attention to you than to me! You were their favorite, and before I started hating you, I used to find excuses to avoid coming home." When I tried to stop crying, I took a brief pause. I wanted to say everything I'd never said before, but I couldn't because my mouth wouldn't let me, and my voice was shaking. He was taking his last breath right there. I wish he would listen to me, even fight back, but he should not have had to remain silent like a dead man. "I'm still jealous of you; you go to our parents before me, and you always get their love more than I do." When he moved his hand a little, my voice broke. "I miss you, Levine," I sobbed openly, my heart broken. For a brief moment, everyone seemed to vanish, leaving only me and Levine in the room. I didn't know who saw their Alpha cry for the first time, but I couldn't hide my pain.
