Waking up the next morning to his phone ringing loudly wasn't a new thing to Rafael but for some reason, he could tell even before he checked the phone that the reason for this call will not be of his liking, and it turned out to be just that, getting a call six am in the morning when he is supposed to be on a break, a break should not be one of the things he thinks about because unlike other people, he never really take breaks.
"Yes, what is it, Matt?"
He asked his other assistant.
"Sorry to disturb your sleep so early sir but they are requesting a statement and I didn't want to go ahead without your approval,"
Matt's voice echoed over the phone, Rafael wondering what kind of statement that was, got off the bed.
"What statement Matt? Is it because of what Armani called for last night? I already told her what to do, and she gave me her words that she can handle it, what happened again now?”
He asked.
"No, not that, I mean concerning your wedding, there are a lot of negative responses as to how your wife behaved yesterday, I am sorry sir, we have been getting loads of calls especially from a lot of our investors, they are not backing out and we can’t keep giving them a no response,”
Matt responded. He should have seen the coming but he never expected investors to be involved.
"What? I thought only the media would do that? What has my wife's attitude gotten to do with my business? My personal life and business ain’t the same thing, I don’t answer to anyone,”
He let out. He didn’t know whether to be mad at the investors or his crazy wife that made this happen in the first place.
"Sorry sir, but the backslash is from both the media and our investors and shareholders, they are demanding an explanation as to why your wife was pictured at the airport yesterday while people were waiting for her at the chapel, it's crazy in here, if you don’t say a word, I don’t think we can handle the loss,”
Matt said, his voice was screaming stressed, Matt was one of his most patient personal assistants, and for him to be complaining, means he has had enough, and the bitch that was to blame for this whole shit might be asleep right now, Rafael still couldn't believe she had locked the door and refused to open for him when he requested it, she was crazy, her craziness was about to cost him a lot and she was sleeping peacefully, wait a minute, he thought as his mind went to what Matt had just said.
"My wife was seen at the airport yesterday?"
He asked in confusion.
"Yes sir, it one of the photos in the front paper and it drawing a lot of attention, along with her, sorry might I say, but that's the word that they are using, her nasty behavior towards the guest, refusing to dance with anyone or acknowledge anyoñe, even snobbing the chairman,”
Matt explained.
"So who do you want me to respond to? The investors? I don't give a fuck about them, how much are they all worth? If they make any stupid move I am going to buy out all their shares, let them know that, who else is there? the media? As if I care about jobless people who do nothing but be nosy, the public? Who the fuck is the public?"
He asked, he understood that the way Natalie behavior yesterday wasn't of his liking but he didn't owe anyone an explanation, even though he hadn't known she was at the airport, he was sure she had a reason for being there, he wasn't going to sit and watch anyone bash his wife, no but he was, she deserves it and he was going to make sure she knows about all the negative stuff that is being said about her.
"Sorry, sir,"
"Take care of this, and can you send a copy of those articles and magazines to me? I need it for something,"
"Yes sir, it will arrive shortly,"
"Good, I am at the penthouse,"
"I know, the rep will be there in five minutes,"
Matt said and he hanged up, he went to take his bath and brushed his teeth, if his new wife wanna be crazy he could be crazy too, two can play her stupid game, by the time he was done the magazine arrived, those people sure are mad, how could they leave out all the perfect pictures and pick the one she wasn't smiling? Even though she was smiling, she was still so beautiful.
“Cut it out,”
He scolded himself.
"Time to go wake her up,"
He said going over to the main room, he knocked on the door twice and concluded that if she doesn't open it he was going to break it down, he didn't mind doing that, she opened the door a few minutes later, she looked like she just woke up and was regretting opening the door, she was wearing his shirt, the audacity, he entered before she could close the door on him.
“Rafael? What do you want? It is too early in the morning to be put disturbing someone,”
She said, yawning.
“What are you even talking about?”
He asked.
“I am sorry,”
She said and he assumed she was apologizing for the night before, well it was too late already because payback time now.
"Have you finally come back to your senses?"
He asked, waving the magazine at her face, she frowned, her beautiful face creasing, she looked so pretty for someone who just woke up, he shocked his head and focused on her frowning face.
"What do you mean by that and why did you wake me up so early?"
"Oh, well I have a little present for you,"
He said and handed the magazine over to her, he watched her face change to one of horror and smiled in satisfaction, yup just the reaction he wanted...
