Nicole quickly, tossed the dress on and fixed her makeup again, she expected Rafael to show up any moment now, he wanted to go out on a date night with her and after the things they talked about, she realized she might have judged him wrongly by thinking he was ruining that man's life if everything he said was true which she knew it was because she couldn't just picture Rafael lying on someone, well the man deserves everything he was getting and she hopes he gets exposed, how could a human think of endangering a lot of other people for their own selfish benefits? She just didn't understand humans, even her own twin, she just couldn't understand why Natalie chose not to stick to her words of returning and on top of that, she is not taking her calls, she should have expected this much from Natalie but she never thought she would do it especially knowing that the longer she stays away, the more their chances of being exposed.
"Natalie?"
Rafael called, she quickly checked her reflection again to make sure she was okay, before exiting the room, she found him in the sitting area, she hadn't expected him to be back so early, she wanted to ask him how it went but she didn't even know how to put the question.
"I am ready,"
She said instead.
"Good, we are not coming back here so if you leave anything behind, you can tell the driver to come to pick it up for you or you can take the car in the park at home, our house is finally ready so there is no need for us to come here except you prefer living here,"
He revealed she nodded, she didn't have a say in where he choose for them to live, it wasn't in her place, that was for Natalie to decide.
"That's if she comes back,"
The tiny voice in her head replied she hoped so even though she was almost giving up hope of Natalie turning up.
"I can't drive,"
"Huh? What do you mean you can't drive? I have seen you driving around, you came to pick me up at the airport remember?"
"Oh, God, I met I can't drive right now, isn't that obvious?"
She lied, she had forgotten Natalie can drive and she is the one that can't, she just hope he won't ask her to drive because that will get the both of them killed.
"Oh,"
"Yup,"
She said and a weird silence filled the room, Nicole looked around, thinking about if she had anything that she wanted to take with her right now, but there were none.
"Let's go?"
He asked breaking the silence.
"Sure,"
She replied and they were out of the penthouse, when they got out of the hotel, she saw some paparazzi outside as their car drove out of the hotel.
"Do those people ever take a break?"
She couldn't help asking.
"They don't, not when they have to be on-trend,"
"I didn't know stalking people and invading their privacy was a trend,"
She let out, she just couldn't understand how their mind works.
"Apparently, but it's not like they are stalking, they are just waiting, and this hotel is a five class hotel, a lot of elites show up here which is why the paparazzi are always here just in case there is some juicy information."
He revealed, she still couldn't get it, she shook her head and looked out of the car, the night was cool and she knew it would be refreshing, she thought of telling him she wants to lower the window and feel the night breeze on her face but, decided not to since that might ruin her makeup, one of the many reasons she hated wearing make-up, maybe it would have been better if she was born as a guy, many things would have been better if she was indeed born as a male instead of a female, for once her twin won't have the stupid thoughts of making her cover for her because how would she tell her to go marry in her place if she had been a guy? She was sure they wouldn't have even looked the same.
"What are you thinking about so deeply?"
He asked, she turned to look at him and looked away immediately, he was intimidating sometimes, like right now, he looked all macho, just sitting and doing nothing.
"How to get away with murder,"
She let out.
"What? Who do you wanna kill?"
"Lots of people, my sister to begin with,"
"Wow, why, what did she do to you?"
"I am not telling but it is terrible and she doesn't care about my feelings,"
"You guys talk it out when she comes back, you are lucky you have a sibling, some of us don't,"
He replied, she looked at him and he had this sad and lonely expression, that made her want to hug him.
"Don't Nicole,"
She mentally scolded herself, she didn't know anything about his family, she hasn't been able to get anything off the internet about his family and none were present at their wedding, maybe his family lives far away but even at that, he was a super-wealthy man, he can transport them from any part of the world at ease if he wants.
"I have been meaning to ask, but why didn't no of your family members show up at our wedding?"
"That's because I don't have a family,"
"What? What happened?"
"I don't want to talk about it, can you not ask?"
"Okay, fine, I won't,"
She responded, she sensed his family was a sensitive topic and maybe he didn't want to share the details with anyone, she wanted to tell him that she was his family though, that he was wrong for saying he doesn't have a family but then she wasn't truly his family, he didn't even know her.
"Cut it out,"
She mentally scolded herself as the car sped off in silence.
