"You can sleep bro, I will wake you up when we get to their mansion,"
Aron said, Rafael shook his head, he shouldn't be sleepy, not when Nicole and her twin were out there somewhere, thinking about how scared they must be, he won't get anything done by sleeping.
"Don't worry, I can manage, I wasn't about to fall asleep so I took some pills, now I wish I didn't, how long till we get the Evans mansion?"
"Less than ten minutes,"
Aron replied and they continued in silence when they finally arrived at the mansion, they were security men at the entrance, they allowed them to pass through and Nicole's mom came running to them.
"Do you guys have any news about my kids?"
She asked almost in tears, he hasn't been in the same room with her for almost a year now, and the first time he does, it was because he let her daughters be in danger.
"Not yet, ma,"
Aron replied, they seem to be close as he hugged her, and held her, he looked out of place and shook off the thoughts, he had pressing things to think about other than that.
"I spoke with my security officer and they are working on locating Nicole's car, I hope that will give us a clue,"
He explained, Nicole's mom, looked at him for the first time.
"Rafael, I almost didn't know it was you I am sorry my mind is crowded,"
She said hugging him, he didn't expect the gesture, it warmed his heart.
"We will find them okay?"
He said patting her back.
"I hope so, I just hope so,"
She said sobbing, his phone started ringing and he let go of her as her husband walked out of the main house too, he looked like he aged ten years in the last two hours, he picked up his phone when he saw it was from Lance.
"Yes?"
"We found her car,"
"Really? Where?"
He almost shouted out but he controlled himself, they found her car but not her.
"Lincoln road, but there is no sign of her,"
He said and Rafael let out a sigh, his worst fear has just been confirmed that Nicole, possibly the two of them have been abducted and it was all his fault.
"What's going on?"
Aron asked.
"They found Nicole's car but not her, it's at the new complex at Lincoln road,"
He revealed scratching his head, and looking from Aron to Nicole's parents, how did he tell them that this was all because of him?
"Lance, keep looking around the area, we are on our way,"
He told Lance and ended the call.
"We will go check it out and get back to you,"
He said to Nicole's parents, they both nodded, and went back to talking to the people they had met there who turned out to be the estate security, as Aron started the car and they left, he felt sorry for causing the pain so early into the new year.
"This is all my fault,"
"Dude, you will have to stop blaming yourself for anything, that's not going to help,"
"Did you see the look on their face? Not one but their two children are missing, the dad looks like he aged ten years and you saw how their mom was, I couldn't even face them because it is all my fault, I should have done better,"
He replied holding his head.
"Shit has happened already, all we have to do now is look for a solution not pass blames, blaming yourself won't be the solution and technically, it's not your fault that someone decided to play dirty,"
Aron replied, the man was good with words, he give that to him but his words were doing nothing to stop Rafael from the guilty that was eating at his soul.
"Let's focus on getting our girls back okay? After that, you can blame yourself all you want,"
Aron said when he didn't say a word, Rafael couldn't even laugh at his own stupidity, here he thought Aron was after his woman yet all along that wasn't it, and here he was sitting with him.
"We will do that, I just hope a call comes through at least do that I will know who I am dealing with."
He said and as if on cue his phone rang, it was Lance again, he picked up and put the phone on loudspeaker
"Lance,"
"There isn't a new update, we are still out here but about the call, we finally traced the caller and it's Leonard,"
Lance revealed.
"Leonard? He is in prison,"
He said right before he remembered hearing that Leonard escaped prison, then if he was the one doing this.
"He got out of prison and he is on the wanted list, he is our main suspect right now and I already talk with the authorities, we will be working with them,"
Lance revealed.
"Alright, then, we are almost there,"
"I don't think there is a need for that Rafael, there is nothing here, I am leaving some of my men here to be on the lookout, there is nothing you can do here, just go home and get some rest, and hopefully we get a call soon,"
He said and Rafael turned to Aron who nodded in agreement.
"Alright, I will just call their parents, I don't even know what to tell them,"
"I spoke with her father already, I work with them too,"
"Why am I just knowing?"
"Because it has been a long time, don't take it personally, I like you more,"
"I wish I can laugh at your joke Lance, but thanks,"
"Okay, I will keep you updated,"
Rafael thanked him and ended the call, him and Aron agreed that it would be better if they stayed together, so he told Aron to drive them to his penthouse, it was closest to the mansion, he also spoke with Nicole's parents and they told him to keep them updated and they will do the same when they finally arrived at the penthouse, he was so exhausted and the drug he took was fighting and winning, he wished there was more he could do for his woman and her sister, but there was nothing he could do than wait, the people who he was working with were good at their job so he could only trust on them to get them back, he left Aron in the living room after trying so hard not to fall asleep and went to sleep, he would be useless by morning if he didn't get that drug out of his system, so sleeping it off was better than fighting it...
