A lump gets stuck in my throat and my hands sweat from nerves that hit all of a sudden, meeting Samantha's grandmother.
"It is a pleasure to meet you. I have heard so much about you ma'am." I smile, after swallowing that lump in my throat.
"Oh pish posh! No ma'am is needed I don't like to feel old." She laughs and waves us into her house. "My manners, name is Encelasous, but you can call me Gram actually I insist you call me Gram."
I laugh along some with her and Samantha. I can tell what side Samantha took and it was her mothers side because she is a lot like Gram in a way. I am curious if Samantha's mom is the same way in the lively personality and having that calm vibe too.
Just walking in Gram's house you can feel and smell that devine homey scent. This is what a home is supposed to feel like.
"That is sure a name you have there Gram. I don't know if I could even pronounce it correctly." I laugh as Samantha literally pushing me down to the couch, before she sits next to me.
"Many times growing up I would have loved to know what my parents were thinking naming me that. I normally go by my middle name, but like I said you call me Gram. Got the best feeling." She mutters off the last bit so quietly I almost didn't catch it.
"You are special Shane, Gram normally doesn't tell anyone her first name." Samantha laughs.
"Anyone want some tea? I got hot water ready and I made up some of your favorite treats." Gram jumps up from her seat.
"I would love a cup Gram. Let me help you." Samantha goes to get up and Gram nudges her right back down.
"I got this you enjoy just relaxing. Shane?"
"Sounds nice." I smile.
Gram claps her hands and takes off.
"She is a blast of energy but very nice." I whisper to Samantha.
She nods and smiles. "Gram has always been a bundle of energy. Best person to go to for fashion too."
"So we all have hot tea. Sorry if you're a coffee drinker but I am not allowed to keep it in the house, apparently it makes me overly rambunctious." Gram sighs and sits a tray down on the table.
The entire time she was saying that Samantha shook her head no for not having coffee and then her eyes got wide shaking her head yes to how coffee makes Gram. It takes everything in me not to laugh.
"Oh macaroons!" Samantha sqeals, as her face lights up seeing the things on the tray.
She grabs one before taking her tea.
"One thing about my granddaughter here, Samantha has a sweet tooth." Gram smirks, handing me a cup.
"Thank you." I smile.
In a way, Gram reminds me of my grandmother. She was just as soft hearted all the time I grew up.
"If it is okay with you, I have a safe treat I made up for the great grand fur babies too." Gram picks up a small bag of paw shape cookies from the look.
"I am good with it. I'm sorry I brought another dog in without asking. This is Tanker." I pet his head.
"We love all animals here and I would be happy with a house full." Gram laughs pulling out three of the cookies.
Oreo and Fluffier seem to prance over to her. Tanker sniffs the air and walks over, gently taking one when he is offered it. I watch as he eats it just as fast as the others. If like he is giving his thanks, Tanker puts his head on Gram's leg wanting her attention.
I listen as Samantha and Gram talk but my mind tries to make a turn to get to town before going to Samantha's house. One thing I want to do since I have worked through my feelings is to tell her I love her, but I want to give her something to remember it by.
"Would you like some more tea?" Gram looks to me.
"No, thank you. There is something I do need to do before it gets late and the store close." I smile and stand.
"I can come with you, Shane." Samantha stands with me.
"It is okay, little paws. I just need to grab some more soap and razors." I smile and kiss her cheek. "I won't be long and then I will see you in a bit."
"Okay, I have to stop by the store and get some groceries for dinner because I have nothing at the house." She laughs.
I can still work with that because I do need those things and I seen to one small store next to the jelewry store next to it and I can slip over without her knowing once I see her go to the grocery store.
We bid Gram a good evening and Samantha promises to come over soon.
"You come back too Shane." Gram waves from the door.
Samantha gets in her car with Oreo and Fluffier. Tanker jumps up in the truck and it doesn't take it long for the pressure to come up with not being as loaded.
We get to town quickly and I pull the truck in the parking lot with the small store next to the jelewry store. At least the town is middle size to where not everything is at the grocery store.
I get out and walk into the small store with Tanker right when I see Samantha go into the grocery store. I walk in and get the things I do actually need, which is a great cover story even if I got enough to last another week. I check out and walk over to the jewelry store.
"Good evening, sir. Can I help you?" A lady asks from behind the counter.
"I am looking for a necklace that is not flashy." I give a kind smile.
"Right this way." She gestures and walks over.
Immediately one catches my eye and I point. "May I see this one?"
"That is a very nice choice."
When I get to see it up close, I can tell the detail to the silver but it is just a small and unique looking piece. In a way it gives off a more old vibe to the work that is made in the silver.
"I would like this one." I smile and hand it back to her.
