“No, I won’t believe it. Why would someone erase my memories?” I refused to accept it, but Kassidy didn’t utter a single word. Is everything a lie? How can my life be a lie?
“That’s the truth. Whether you trust it or you don’t.” Kassidy told with no sympathy in her face.
“So, what’re these pictures mean? This is Sydney’s parents, right?” Victoria asked, showing my so-called parents picture.
“No, they are not. I can only summon those who are real. Iam afraid the person in the picture doesn’t even exist,” Kassidy looked at it again and shrugged her shoulder.
Then how am I? Where are my real parents? What memories am I missing? All these days am I living in a lie. I never even fully remember my past. It’s taken away. Should I trust Kassidy? Who should I trust? I need to see Lydia. She’s the one who hides everything from me. What if she did something to my memories? No, she won’t do such type of thing. She’s my aunt.
“Sydney, come here,” Kassidy called me when I fell on my knees with my hands closing my face to not let them see me crying. When I didn’t move, Kassidy came near me and removed my hands from my face.
“Now I know all your memories which are true. Everything is true when you are ten years old, but I can’t see your childhood. I can’t see below four years,”
“I was with my aunt since Iam a child. I don’t remember my parents. But I remember being with Lydia,” I sobbed as she kept her hands on my shoulder.
“You lived with aunt Lydia. I have seen that, but that’s not your whole life. Something’s been taken away from you. I can’t help you without knowing who did that to you,”
“What should I do? I want to know. I trusted whatever Lydia told me. Now you are telling me it’s not true. I don’t know who should I trust? Which story should I believe? I don’t even know who am I. I guess Iam just an orphan,” I spoke, feeling heart broken. I stayed inside a single house all my life. Don’t I deserve to know why did that happen? I deserve to know those memories taken away from me.
“Please, don’t talk like that, dear. We are here to help you. I promised you. You will know everything about yourself soon. Trust me,” Victoria consulted me as a single tear dropped from her eyes. Did she cry for me? For my loss? For my sorrow?
“I guess I need to call my aunt Lydia. This time she needs to answer me. My aunt... she needs to tell whatever the truth is.” I choked as I spoke. Even though I came to know the truth, nothing can be taken back. My whole life has been wasted by being hidden from everyone. At least the time has come to know it.
“Can I ask you something?” I asked the queen, wiping my tears. She nodded as she looked at me with a worried, caring, grieving face. If she cares about me, an orphan girl. Then I need to do something for her.
“I need to know how to get to your sister’s memories. You did all this for me. I want to do this for you. Then I will contact my aunt and ask for the truth,” I firmly said.
“No, you don’t need to do that. Kassidy, can you go now? I need to talk to her alone,” Victoria told her, and she politely bowed and walked away.
“Iam going to help you. Iam going to demand answers from my aunt soon. The only thing which remains is to help you,” I decided it and not going to step back from my words.
“Iam over it, Sydney. Iam over my pains. It’s been years and I will try to live my remaining life by training the students in the academy,” she said, but I can see it’s a lie. She deserves the truth. Just like me. Everyone deserves to know the things which they desperately want to know.
“Iam going to help you. I decided. Don’t worry about me. This is not new to me. Lydia always refused to answer my question. Now, with your help, I will demand the answer. Now let me help you,”
“I will tell you. If you need to get her childhood memories, then you need to enter her room where there will be a treasure box. That’s where we all keep our memories with other jewels. If you can take it, I can easily sort out the next thing.” She said, but I can see she doesn’t trust that I could enter Dorothy’s house. But what if I can?
My job is to steal Dorothy’s memories of Victoria and demand answers from my aunt. If Lydia refused to answer the phone, then I will leave the Academy to track wherever she was staying and help others, which was her job. What’s the use of helping others when she can’t help me?
“I will do it. Watch me. I will be returning here, only with Dorothy’s memories,” I strongly told and walked out of her room. My eyes are red from crying, but I don’t care about that. I won’t rest for a single second without solving any of this.
I reached my dorm room while being lost in thoughts. When I opened the door, I saw Jacen, Noah, Amelia, Leona, Issac are gathered together talking and reading. Jacen noticed me first and soon all their eyes were on me.
“Why are you crying, Sydney?” Jacen hurried towards me. He rarely called me Sydney. I like to hear him say my name. Iam so glad I have him.
“Nothing. I will explain it to you later. Now I need…need...” I trailed off. I don’t even know who to get Dorothy’s memory. How can I do it?
“Please tell me, now, baby,” Jacen pleaded, hugged me close to him as I tried to control my tears again.
“What’s wrong, Sydney. Tell us,” Noah asked while others said something, but I can’t concentrate my mind on their words. Then it strikes my mind. I figured out how to get Dorothy’s memories.
