Sydney Marin Chapter 25

“Oh gross, I will wait outside. Please dress up,” “You should have told me you have a boyfriend,” she muttered and left the room. Amelia entered the room with a bodyguard after a minute. “Who’s he? What’s going on here?” I asked, raising my eyebrow. “See this video mam and come with me to see the Queen,” the bodyguard in a full black suit and sunglasses told me holding an iPad. A video was played of me in the magic portion of class with other students. When Cassie went to get the last ingredients, I came to her place and added something into it. “I never did something like this. What is heck is this?” I shouted and raised my hand to crack the iPad. “Whatever. This video proves you sabotaged Cassie’s work. So, you need to meet the Queen. No one should behave like this on a very first day.” I lifted my hands to slap him even though he got nothing to do with this except show this video. “Calm down, baby. We can sort this out.” Jacen caught both of my arms and stopped me. “Just wait outside for five minutes. She will come,” Amelia told him and he pointed his hands at his watch, telling it’s for only five minutes. “Now you don’t need to be panic. I know you didn’t do anything. Just tell the truth. The Queen will only help her students,” Amelia calmly explained. “I know the Queen is kind except for her daughter, who is nothing like her,” I slammed the door shut, noticing the bodyguard is hearing us. “What a funny joke, Sydney? Who told you like this? Cassie is not Victoria’s daughter.” She laughed at me. “What? If Cassie’s not her daughter, then why she became a stupid princess?” “Uh... That’s because Victoria and Peter don’t have a daughter or son at all. Dorothy is Cassie’s mother and the next generation should continue, no matter what. Witches are not immortal, so a royal Heir is important, and they decided it should be Cassie. That’s the bad decision they have ever taken. I can’t imagine Slateville having Queen Cassie in the future. Duh. Everyone knows she will be terrible Queen.” What I thought was right. Cassie can never be born to a kind Queen. Well, practically she’s not the true Heir. “Time’s over.” the bodyguard opened the door and folded his arms. “Okay, I will go. I know I did nothing.” I went outside proudly like I did something great. He took me to another hall. I guess there are infinite halls in this Academy. Soon I entered the hall, which has an absolute look of a castle. There are two thrones for king and Queen and there’s no sign of Peter but only Victoria seated on the throne alone. She looked so calm and gorgeous with little makeup, her brown hair braided on the left side and a simple but stunning blue glittering gown. She’s wearing a necklace with a sapphire stone. I bowed down to the Queen and doubted whether she will scold me for misunderstanding. I was the one who sabotaged Cassie’s portion. “You are Sydney, right?” She smiled at me like I was a member of her family. “Yes... yes,” I stuttered. “I know you didn’t do anything. I should ask sorry instead of Cassie,” I was shocked to the core for a second. The Queen is asking sorry to me, to a girl who has never been excited for sixteen years. Iam too shocked to give a reply. “How did you? I didn’t do anything, your majesty, my Queen.” I found my voice at last. “Because Cassie edited the video to blame you. If I didn’t call you here, she will tell my sister and do something idiotic. So, I called you over,” “I don’t know how she edited it but Iam glad you understood me, your majesty, my Queen. Thank you so much,” I said, smiling, which reached my eyes. She nodded her head and motioned me to leave the room. I didn’t think it will be so easy. “Wait for a second, Sydney,” I heard her voice calling me again. I turned back and waited for her to continue. She hesitated a lot after she called me. I can tell by her look, something’s bothering her. “Where did you come from?” “Iam from Slateville.” Why people are asking me this same thing over and over. I may be hidden for my whole life from others, but that doesn’t mean I don’t belong here. “Then who are your parents?” she should have not ask this question. Iam finally recovering from my grief. “My parents have died when Iam three years old. My aunt Lydia raised me,” I said without showing sadness. But she doesn’t feel sorry for me, she’s too shocked to respond. There’s nothing in my story to be shocked like this. “So do you have any memory of them?” “I have their photo,” “Is something wrong, your majesty, my Queen?” I added. “No, it’s nothing. I have to tell you your power impressed me. I never saw it with anyone for many years,” “Thank you. Can I ask you one a question, your Majesty, my Queen? Princess Cassie also has the same power. Then why do you say you never saw it in years?” It’s stupid of me to compare me to her, but I did. I want to know more about myself.” “Royal family always has this type of powers. It’s not new, but it’s rare to see other witches who are born with that blue magic. That’s why I asked about your parents.” she replied after thinking whether to tell me or not. “All I know is my parents died doing a hard spell, and they lost all their power in them,” I told her the truth, trusting her. “Can I go now, your Majesty, my Queen?” I requesting her as I can’t stand thinking about my parents and bringing back the worst memories. “Yes, you can.” she tried to give me a smile but failed to do it. I walked away, feeling confused. I can feel something bothering her since the moment she laid her eyes on me. I don’t know whether it’s good or bad, but there’s got to be something behind her questions. Something’s going on in her mind, which I can’t read. After talking with the Queen, Iam doubting how I got this power since my birth. Does it have to do with parents? What power did they have? I never asked such a question to Lydia, and she never made a move to tell this at all. How can I know this all without any memories? Why don’t have a single memory of me as a three-year-old girl? Those three years feel so black and empty.
