Switches Chapter 33

CHERRY'S POV (CONTINUED) Its being approximately 30 minutes now, I think as I stare at my wrist watch and I haven't heard a single word from him, so I decide to check. I stand, opening the door slowly, turning the knob and it makes a squeaky noise. Opening it wide, I come to a stand still as his back lands on top my fuzzy slippers current covering my feet. He fell asleep? So quickly? I ask myself, and that's when I notice the empty wine bottle by his side. This explains all the gulpy sounds I heard earlier, and why he's currently sleeping, snoring quietly and adorably and I close his lips as I chuckle, I don't want to wake him up just yet. Bending down, and stretching him well, I look at his face and he looks so innocent and handsome in his sleep, I take my time and mark out his features. His lips are slowly open, some huge lock of his always stubborn hair, I remember currently occupying one part of his handsome face. He opens his eyes slowly and catches me staring and smiles and I freeze, my hands mid air, I was actually going to arrange his hair. Did he actually fake this sleep! I think, my temper rising up as usual, but I calm down when I see he's not as his eyes close in a deep slumber, snoring loudly this time but not before I hear a whisper of my name coming out from his lips, "My Cher' please don't leave me." He says in his sleep and I become emotional again. I need to get him to his room. How will I do that now? He's going to be heavy, and his room which is the guest room is at the last wing of the house and very far. And right now, I don't want to be wicked and leave him to sleep here. Gosh! I start thinking of what to do. If I mistakenly attempt to carry him, the both of us will surely die, and I'll first break a bone before that happens. Dragging him by the legs out the door, I keep tossing and turning him until his leg faces my room. Dragging him inside, I bring him to the side of my bed, and carefully placing him down, I grab his shirt and pull him on the bed. Even after everything I did, he doesn't move an inch, or try to wake and I conclude that he must have gotten really drunk to have passed out this much. He's so sweaty and I carefully unbutton his shirt and take them of him gently. The AC in the room is not helping matters and since I can't bath him in the shower, I blanch at the thought of seeing him naked, even though inwardly I want to see how hot he looks, how his chest is, is it broad or narrow? Are there strips of hair? Is he still hairy as before? Is he......! Gosh what am I thinking. Picking a face wipe from the bed, I carefully clean his face and brush his scattered hair with my face. Looking at him, as I sit beside him, old feelings resurface and I don't even know when I begin but I start to say quietly to myself, as I rub his handsomely cut face. "Jayson bear....." I say and I chuckle a little bit, "I'm still can't believe you have been in love with me all this years. Now that you have told me, I understand a bit because I think I also had the same feelings back then. But what you did to me all these years, still hurt me, at least you would have told me, I would have known. Instead you just left me hanging, harboring so much guilt and pain and whatever, eh Jayson." I say, as a tear drops down my eyes and I keep staring at him as I can't take my eyes of him. As if listening to me, I hear him mumble, "I'm so sorry Cher'.... please forgive me." Tears drop from my eyes, and I wipe it sniffing and blowing my nose. "I love you Cherry." He says again. "What is wrong with him? Why is he doing this? I'm sure tomorrow he would have a resounding headache, he would need some painkillers. Getting up, I go and get some drugs from the fridge along with a glass of water. I have already forgiven him, but I can't face him.... My body betrays me though, because I lie down beside him, seeking shelter and comfort, and before I know it I dose off as this words repeat itself soundly in my head. "I love you Jayson." ********* JAYSON'S POV Next Morning. I open my eyes as flashes of the sun streams in the room. My vision blurs and rubbing it slowly, it clears, and I feel a pounding beat in my head. Ouch!!! What really happened? The only thing I can remember is drinking some alcohol and confessing everything to her in desperate. I stare at the ceiling, trying to clear my head, and searching if I could remember anything from last night, but I can't and that's when I feel something on my chest. Touching my chest, I feel a mass of full hair and I see it's Cherry's. What! I jerk my hand in shock as if I've come in contact with something electric, and I close and open my eyes again but I still see her on top of me, and I think this is the joke of the century. I pass out again. *********** I wake up, and the first thing I remember even with my pounding head, is that Cherry was on my chest and immediately my eyes go to my body but she's not there, and I feel empty. Maybe I was just hallucinating, maybe it's a dream. Looking around, I notice that this is not my room, and confirming my suspicions I see Cherry's teddy bear beside me, and I finally think if I was not hallucinating earlier or?...... What am I even doing here? I ask myself, confused. I rack my brain, but I can't seem to come up with any reasonable explanation of how I came to be on her bed, in her room at this hour for that matter. I'm about to stand up, when the door opens and I freeze. She walks towards, tray in hand and smiles. Gulping hard, I try to think of what might be in the tray, and if she's really smiling at me, or if my eyes are just playing tricks with me. She places the tray on the bed, and says, "Good morning, knuckle head." Still smiling, she punched my nose playfully. Hmmmn! I like this atmosphere, but I am not yet comfortable with it, "Good morning." I reply, and scratch my hair nervously I think she senses my nervousness because, she sits on the bed besides me, place the tray on her legs and says slowly, "Calm down. Here." She hands me a glass of water and some pills I guess are painkillers or hangover pills and I accept them gratefully. "Thank you." I murmur and she nods her head cutely. She opens the plates on the tray and I see her bring out a mouthwatering sandwich, the nice aroma of the meats and tomatoes filling the air and my stomach grumbles loudly, embarrassing me and making her laugh adorably, and I forget about the blush appearing on my cheeks and laugh along with her. "Someone's hungry. Well, the painkillers I gave you will help relieve your hangover which explains your aching head right?" She asks and I nod a yes, "Why don't you eat up first, and rest maybe you'll get yourself." I nod at a loss if words, and sip from the glass of water still in my hands. What happened yesterday? I ask myself. Why is she being nice to me? Has she forgiven me? Did I say anything to make her change her mind? I rack my brain trying to find answers as I munch on my sandwich, but I come up with nothing helpful or reasonable. There's just one way to find out though, and I summon courage, clear my throat a little bit and say, "Cherry." I call and she raises her head from her phone and looks up at me. Those piercing orbs, stare straight at me and I get lost in her beautiful eyes, forgetting what I'm about to say, and shake my head trying to remember and discard any illicit thought about her from my mind. "What is the problem?" She asks in a warm and soothing tone, and I say slowly, at first she doesn't hear me, "Have you forgiven me?" I ask and she raises her eyebrows, "What did you say, I didn't hear you." "Have you forgiven me?" I ask, this time sounding a little bit louder. "No." She says and winks, "Huh!" I exclaim and she laughs, "I've forgiven you, I don't know if it's now or long ago, but I don't have any grudge against you." I'm still not satisfied though with this answer though and I stare at her as she sits properly and picks a sandwich, biting into it with her lovely lips. In silence, we both eat, and soon we finish. "Cherry." I call as she packs the tray and makes to leave, "Yes dearie." She answers and this motivates me to say the question on my mind and I blurt out, "Do you love me?" TBC
