The drive back home from the hospital was quite fun, Edde was obviously full of life as he was really singing out the music playing on the stereo system happily. I couldn't help but look at his handsome smooth face and down at his pretty lips moving to the lyrics of the song.
He noticed my eyes on him as he turned and smirked. "What's up? Why are you looking at me like you wanna eat me?" He uttered as I bit my lip lightly.
"I rather want to lick you" I replied as his mouth fell open.
"Elizabeth who spoiled you! Geez!" He exclaimed as I couldn't help but Chuckle at his funny attitude.
"The person f*cking me, who else?" I shrugged as he smirked at me almost making me lose my balance, he is such a bad boy.
Soon we got home, entering inside the sitting room everyone was seated and obviously waiting for us. Once they noticed our presence they all stood up, my mom rushed to me with worries written all over her face. "Honey, are you okay? What did the doctor say?" She was just all over me.
"Mom I would like to sit, my waist hurts badly" I hissed as she paved the way for me. "It was just a simple test, I don't know why you're worried".
"When did the doctor say you should come back to the hospital, you have to be there before the labor starts you know?" Melanie asked curling towards me.
"Next week Tuesday" I replied boredly and hissed.
"Sometimes the labour starts before the date, I just hope it doesn't happen that way though" my Mom uttered worriedly as I smiled.
"Stop stressing about me Mom, trust me when I say I'm fine".
"you can't be totally fine, this is your first pregnancy so you definitely will go through a lot. I'm supposed to be in Atlanta but I will stay back because of you". Mom uttered as I smiled and nodded.
"your legs are swollen too, does it hurt?".
"No Mel, it's just part of what happens when women get pregnant. I'm hungry".
"I made a nice chicken soup Etta" Melanie uttered with a smile on her face.
"This would be my first time tasting your food, please bring it!" I exclaimed as everyone chuckled.
I could feel Edde's eyes on me but I decided not to look to avoid awkwardness, the way in which he looked at me made me quite uncomfortable as I turned to him. "Edde, do we have a problem?"
"Huh? Problem? No we don't?" He shrugged as I rolled my eyes at his pretence.
My lunch was served and to my utmost surprise the Chicken soup looked spicy and delicious, I took a spoon out of it and it tasted just as it looks. In a few minutes I was done drinking the soup and was asking for more, at the end of the day I took five plates of the soup and everyone else was forced to join me.
My belly was filled and I felt lazy too, I was feeling dizzy. "I need to take a nap" I said as they all nodded. "Edde, come lead me to the room, climbing the stairs will drain my strength" I uttered as he quickly pulled me up in a bridal style and took me upstairs.
He gently laid me down on the bed and pulled out my shoes. "My earrings and necklace too" I Muttered as he took them all off.
"Should I turn on the Air conditioner? You're sweating" he asked as I nodded. I felt hot due to the amount of hot chicken soup I ate. "I will leave you to sleep" he said and headed out, my eyes were already smudging out with sleep until I gave up on it.
Hours ran by and I woke up from sleep due to much cold. I couldn't stand up to switch it off. I was literally paralyzed in bed, my eyes felt hot, the bed was also burning and my breath too.
I wasn't seeing clearly due to how hot and dehydrated I was, I curled myself to warm me up as I prayed in my heart for Edde or just anyone to come in. The gravity of air coming from the conditioner was too much for me to handle, my heart felt frozen as I couldn't breathe properly I had to use my mouth for support which still wasn't helping as much.
I tried stretching my hand to the cabinet table to grab my phone but I was too far from it.
I felt hot tears roll down my cheeks as I panicked and forced more air into my system, everything just seemed to be effortless. I was giving up already.
The door opened as Edde walked in and quietly went straight to the closet, he was probably thinking that I was still asleep.
I stretched out my hand trying to get him to notice me but he was too busy with what he was doing.
"Betta, you're finally awake" he uttered once he turned to my direction. "Babe why are you crying? Are you scared of childbirth or something?" He uttered worriedly as he sat next to me and placed his hand on my shoulder. "Jesus! Betta you're burning! What's going on!" He panicked, taking his hands off me.
"The air conditioner, I can't breathe" I mumbled hoping that he hears me as tears smudged my view.
"You can't breathe!? Oh my God! I will call a doctor right away, first of all the conditioner needs to be turned off" he panicked as quickly turned off the air conditioner and placed a call on the doctor.
In seconds of him turning off the air conditioner I was already feeling hot, burning hot. I was losing my mind.
"My love you will be fine, trust me and breathe out, fight for air while we wait for your doctor please" he pleaded as I nodded, the more I tried breathing the more my heart ached. I could see Edde's eyes turning glossy with tears as he watched me.
Was he really crying because of my condition? I haven't seen him like this before.
Soon my door barged open as everyone ran in, Edde must have texted them about my condition.
"Elizabeth what's going on! You were okay a few hours ago!" Ray screamed as they all surrounded me causing even more heat.
"Edde, call a doctor, what the hell is wrong with you!. Elizabeth has never fallen sick before this must be very critical!… I won't spare you if anything happens to my daughter!" My mom yelled as Edde ignored her frustratedly.
"Etta, please help us to breathe, you really have to try harder. Edde turn on the air conditioner, she's sweating badly" Mel uttered as I shaked my head.
"Elizabeth, doesn't need that right now, can you all just stop making things difficult for me by panicking!? Her doctor is on the way!" Edde yelled angrily as everyone suddenly became mute.
My brain hurts with aches and my temperature was getting higher by the second, I was feeling queasy too. I felt dead.
My mom was crying, I haven't seen her this emotional because of me before. It saddened me that I was keeping everyone in tension.
"What the hell is wrong with you Doctor Maria!" Edde yelled over the phone. "Tell any of the guards to direct you to my room" he replied calmly and ended the call.
After a few seconds the door opened and the Doctor walked in.
"Start checking her right away, go! go!" Edde yelled as the doctor hurriedly took out her stethoscope and placed it on my chest.
"She's having high fever sir, I will prefer everyone to go outside while I check her please" She uttered as they all nodded and started heading out, Edde obviously didn't want to leave he was hesitant.
"Be careful with my wife please" Edde uttered with a sound of threat and harshness.
"Just leave!" I tried yelling as he quickly left.
"Ma'am you have to calm down, you will be fine. Your crying will only increase my tension because I don't want Mr Loxley to kill me" she said calmly as I nodded.
She put the ventilator on my nose which automatically helped with my breathing, she did some little check ups and injections which made my body so weak that I slept.

"She isn't waking up! Do something! What have you done to Elizabeth!" I heard a loud growl, it sounded like I was hearing it in my head. Like it was an echo, I couldn't open my eyes either to know where the noise was coming from.
"She can't die with the baby! What are you doing! You can't give up on her just yet!" What's going on, that's Edde's voice. Why is he crying?
"Sir please calm down, she is still breathing. I can't give up on her, let's keep praying and hoping she wakes up".
"It's been twenty hours bitch! You're definitely going to jail!" That was Melanie.
Elizabeth, please open your eyes!
