Sold as Slave Chapter 82

Third Person’s POV Agatha was restless all day long. She kept pacing around her room as her mind was consumed by three main thoughts. Firstly, Sebastian. He discovered by accident that Agatha lives in Brett’s house for a moment, causing Agatha to lie. Secondly, Lanceil. She only had a chance to talk with Lanceil’s brother, Vincent. She is Lanceil’s girlfriend and it should be normal for her to contact him first. But here comes the third problem. Brett. Brett doesn’t want her to contact Lanceil, and he recently ended the slave contract between the two of them. “I tried my best to fulfill his wishes. Why did he suddenly back out of our agreement?" Agatha wondered. Agatha should have been content, but her heart belonged to Lanceil, with whom she was in a relationship. She felt torn. She longed to leave the room and take action, maybe even confide in Lanceil. However, she couldn't. The killer, Maxine, remained at large. Despite not knowing the mastermind, Maxine's threat couldn't be ignored. “That someone will send another people to kill me. But why?” Agatha murmured. She stopped pacing around the room and remembered that her dad’s accident might be actually as murder. “Instead of lying to Sebastian, would it be better to tell him the truth?” she pondered. Agatha stood there, pondering which path to choose. But then, her attention was diverted as she spotted the board games on the table. Curiosity got the better of her, and she approached the board. As she did, she couldn't help but notice some feminine items scattered around the room. "He has a pretty face. Does he have some sort of fascination with women's belongings?" she mused aloud. Just then, there was a knock on the door. "It's Brett," the voice on the other side announced. Agatha found it peculiar that Brett would seek her permission before entering. However, she couldn't help but recall the time when he expressed concern for her and mentioned ending their peculiar arrangement. Brett's actions often left Agatha puzzled. "Come in," she granted, allowing him entry. Brett stepped inside and noticed her holding the board game. "I couldn't help but notice all the women's stuff in this room. Are they yours?" she inquired. A smile formed on Brett's face as he closed the door behind him. He approached Agatha and replied, "This is my sister's room." Agatha couldn't help but notice Brett's low tone voice, so she quickly averted her gaze back to him. He was fixated on the board game in front of him. It dawned on Agatha that she was actually staying in the same room where Brett's sister had stayed before. Agatha blurted out, "I didn't know you had a sister. Where is she?" Brett's reaction was immediate. He took a deep breath and looked up, responding, "She got married." Although he only mentioned her marriage, there was something about Brett that made it seem like he had been alone for a long time. This made Agatha wonder about his parents. “What about your parents?” she pressed on. The two of them exchanged glances, and after a brief moment of silence, Brett's reply came with an overly forced smile. "Why are you suddenly so interested in my life?" The truth was, she wasn't really interested. Not until she saw the loneliness hidden behind his smile. Agatha pondered over the kind of gaze she was giving him. As she peered into his eyes, using them as a mirror to see her own reflection, she whispered, "What expression?" "Pity," he replied. She couldn't respond. It was true that she couldn't forgive him, but... If she felt sorry for this man, could it be a sign that she might eventually accept him? After all, you only share sentimental emotions with someone who deserves it. "Why would I feel sorry for someone who enslaved me with a contract? I don't," she denied, although the sincerity in her eyes contradicted her words. Brett remained silent, his gaze fixed on her. Feeling uncomfortable, Agatha cautiously parted her lips. “There's something I'm curious about, though I know you won't give me an answer." She gazed directly at him. "Why did you send me to Lanceil? If you have a goal and you are using me as your bait, then why did you cancel my mission? What is y..." She couldn't finish her questions as Brett suddenly leaned in closer to her. His warm breath brushed against her skin. A slight misstep could have led to their lips touching, so Agatha remained motionless like a statue. "Why did I fired you?" Brett whispered, not moving an inch. She was trapped between his arms, and when Brett tilted his head, their noses lightly brushed against each other. "I don't want to admit it either," he confessed. Agatha sat there, frozen like a statue, as his hand reached out to touch hers resting on her lap. Their fingers intertwined, a gesture that seemed to promise permanence. "I didn't want to waste my efforts," he murmured softly, his words barely audible. "But you... You ruined everything." His hand, previously resting on the bed, now cradled her cheek. "You're a failed servant, a useless pawn." Despite the harsh words, his tone was gentle, almost as if he was afraid to cause her pain. Her skin prickled with goosebumps, feeling like prey waiting to be devoured. She tried to hold her breath, but when Brett's thumb brushed against her lips, she couldn't help but exhale, trembling. "H-Hey…” "Shh," he whispered. "Be quiet and pay attention. I still have more complaints to make." He took a step back so they could lock eyes. She swallowed nervously. He did the same. In a room where errors were possible, his heart was filled with regrets. He wanted to amplify his guilt and sins. That's why he leaned in closer and opened his mouth. Knock knock! "Sir Brett, you have a visitor..." "No need for introductions." The door opened and a man came in. "Agatha! I came back and brought fruits for... WHAT'S WITH YOUR POSITION?" Sebastian gritted his teeth at the sight.
