Sold as Slave Chapter 74

Agatha’s POV I spent my Sunday alone in the condo. My boyfriend, Lanceil, said that he would come back today but I could not see any of his silhouettes. “Maybe he’s busy at work.” Lanceil was usually busy even on weekends. I should be happy that he spent his Saturday for me. Sitting on the sofa, I looked at my phone. “It’s been hours, but I still don’t know how to contact you.” I wasn’t talking about Lanceil, but Brett instead. Lanceil and I started dating each other and even mingling, not just twice but many times. The first person who should know this was no other than… yeah, my master whom I signed the slave contract for. “I don’t know how to say it. That’s the problem.” It was so befuddling to me that I found it hard to tell Brett everything that happened between me and my boss. “Was it because… Brett wanted to ruin Lanceil’s life?” He once told me that – to wreck Grim. There must be a connection I did not know, or I must not dig further. Yet at the end of the red line, the truth will come out. So, which part of these reasons really make it hard? That I don’t want to ruin Lanceil’s life? Or that I was scared to see how Brett would react if he found out that I fell in love with the man he despises? Amidst the deep thoughts, my phone vibrated. Brett’s name appeared on the screen. Heart throbbed. My mind swirled. Time crawled as I picked up my phone and pressed the accept button. [“Where are you?”] It feels like years since the last time I talked to him. Was he in a sulky period too just like Sebastian? I managed to open my lips and gave him a response. “I am inside the condominium.” [“Lanceil?”] “He’s not here. Lanceil went out and…” [“I don’t really care about him. Come out of the condo. I parked my car nearby.”] And just like that, he hung up the call and left me speechless. “He came whenever he like and left without saying a thing.” A bad man, that’s how I’ll describe Brett. He was already like that in the beginning. No doubts left. However, I found myself resenting him more as time passed by – on which, I could not comprehend why. Holding my phone, I stood up. At the entrance of the condo, the door opened, and a tall guy blocked my way. It was Lanceil’s brother, damn Vincent. My mood plummeted just by seeing his face. “Where are you going?” he asked. Raising my brow, I answered, “I am going out to get some fresh air.” I walked pass him, but Vincent held my wrist and pulled me back to my place. “Last night…” My heart skipped a beat when Vincent suddenly brought up last night. Nervous, my eyes looked at him without blinking while my chest kept on pounding. ‘Don’t tell me he came back home and saw Lanceil and I together in his room?’ I hope he did not. Please. Vincent lowered his head and let go of my hand. Next second, he took me by surprise by showing remorseful expression on his usual arrogant face. If ‘being guilty’ is a make-up, I should say that it looks good on him. “I did not come back home,” Vincent said at a slow pace. The breath I was holding for long seconds had slipped through my nose. That’s great then. It means he didn’t see Lanceil and me doing wild things in his room. Even drinking wine until I got so drunk. “Can you make me some food? I’m hungry,” Vincent sincerely asked for favor. I also wished I could stay inside. But I have to meet Brett. Withal, I had to go before Brett would think of visiting me here in person. He’s the man who traveled all the way to my field trip camping site just to see me, and I am sure coming here is possi… ‘Wait. What did I just realize now?’ Brett traveled long kilometers just to see me. Why did I think about that just now? And why… why am I feel so regretful? “I’ll be quick,” I said before I dashed away. “Hey! Come back quickly! I told you I am hungry!” was what I heard before slamming the door closed. I ran towards the elevator and pressed the button in haste. ‘Why did he go to that extent just for meeting his slave?’ It was the question I wanted to ask Brett before telling him everything about me and Lanceil. And depending on his answer, I would decide whether I’ll spill the beans or not. Ting! The elevator closed with a clang, but it went open again because someone placed her hand between the closing door. It was our neighbor, Miss Maxine. Miss Maxine went inside the elevator and stood next to me. She’s wearing her usual all-black outfit, which made her suspicious. On top of that, she’s carrying another huge luggage. Going on vacation? “I enjoyed the Pasta,” she, who never initiated the conversation, spoke. She pressed the button and the door closed once more. “That’s great,” I said with flat voice. “But you haven’t given the Tupperware back.” After my reply, Miss Maxine didn’t say anything. The elevator continued to go down and we spent our time waiting quietly. However, suddenly, Maxine leaned closer to me. “Agatha,” she whispered my name, which she rarely calls. And then… “Sorry.” My system turned blurry, and my sight went all black. *** *** Third Person’s POV Ten minutes have passed, yet Agatha hasn’t come out yet. “Here I was, expecting that she would come rushing once I said that I was waiting for her. Tssk,” Brett complained. As he was waiting inside his car, Brett saw a person walking out from the main entrance of the building. He thought it was her, so he was about to wave his hand. Yet that person isn't the woman he expected, but rather just a random person who was wearing a black cap and mask to cover half of her face. That person was pulling a huge suitcase on the way to her own car. He put the suitcase inside the back seat, hopped in the driver's seat, and drove away. "Is he going on a vacation in the middle of the night? Weird,” Brett uttered while dialing Agatha’s number on his phone as his instinct told him to do so. [“The number you've dialed is out of service. Please call again”] It’s odd. He couldn’t reach Agatha suddenly. Brett tried to call her again and again but got the same result. "No way," he chuckled with trembling lips. Wishing that his guess would remain just a useless guess, Brett dashed out of his car and then head inside the building. This is not the first time he came here so the security guard let him in without a pass. Not wasting any second, he arrived in front of Lanceil’s condominium. Brett was gasping for air when he pressed the doorbell. He’s aware that his long-awaited plan might ruin once the door opened. But imagining that something happened to Agatha, Brett believes he can throw everything he has just to make sure she’s safe. “Damn. Why are you here?” Vincent asked as soon as he opened the door and saw Brett. “Set aside.” “What?” “I said move out!” Brett pushed him away and barged in, looking at every corner. However, no matter where he looks, he found no trace of Agatha! “Sh*t,” Brett cursed. Following him from behind, Vincent shouted, “Hey! What was that supposed about!” Covered with sweat, Brett did not look back and only went back to his car while cursing. "F*cking shit. Sh*t! Sh*t!” He got his phone and called someone while buckling his seatbelt. [“Why are you calling, Mr. Holmes”] “Mercedes Benz, white, with plate number YKS 781. I need you to track that car for me!” [“What the f*ck, dude. I am a loan shark owner. Not an investigator.”] “But I know you have a connection to track along the road.” [“Then, you need to pay me a huge am…”] “I DON’T CARE HOW MUCH IT WOULD BE! FIND AGATHA, AND I WILL PAY YOU AS MUCH AS YOU WANT!”
