Saturday came.
Just like what Lanceil proposed to Agatha, the two of them went back to the orphanage to volunteer. Before they arrived, Agatha asked Lanceil to reconsider his decision.
But Lanceil’s decision was firm. He wanted to do it despite his busy schedule.
“Good morning, Mr. Grim,” Jasfer, the head of the orphanage, greeted Lanceil. Then his eyes went to the lady standing next to Lanceil.
Agatha smiled awkwardly.
[“Mr. Jasfer, do me a favor. I am working as Mr. Lanceil’s maid right now. I don’t want him to find out my history. Can you pretend that I only went to the orphanage to volunteer?”]
Jasfer sighed after remembering Agatha’s favor. He smiled at the two and asked, “I was surprised to see the two of you together.”
‘I felt the same way,’ Agatha thought. Either way, Agatha wanted to take this chance to do her mission.
“Miss Agatha and I came here to volunteer,” Lanceil said.
“Mr. Grim, you wanted to volunteer?” Jasfer gasped.
Isn’t Lanceil the heir of a billion-dollar corporation?
Well, if Jasfer would look back, Agatha was a wealthy woman when she decided to help.
‘It’s amazing that there are people like them who are willing to help,’ Jasfer thought.
“We are so thankful, Mr. Grim. You decided to sponsor our orphanage and you wanted to volunteer too,” Jasfer complimented before he looked at Agatha. “If you excuse me. Can I talk to Agatha first?”
Lanceil stared at Agatha and saw no reason to disagree. “It’s fine.”
Jasfer quickly pulled Agatha by holding her arm. The two of them went to the corner.
Lanceil watched their backs from a good distance. But what bothered him the most was Jasfer’s hand around Agatha’s arm. He frowned while looking at it.
“This is too sudden, Mis Agatha,” Jasfer whispered.
“Even I have no idea why my boss suddenly thought of this,” Agatha sighed.
“Hey Agatha, are you really fine?”
“What?”
“You wanted me to hide your identity from your boss. But you came here with him. What’s really going on?”
Agatha knew that Jasfer would freak out that she was trying to seduce Lanceil so she could terminate her slave contract with Mr. Brett Holmes. Of course, she would not say that.
“I can handle it. Trust me,” Agatha promised.
Soon, the two of them went back. But Lanceil was still looking at Jasfer’s hand around Agatha’s arm.
“Sir, for today’s work, we need to wash the children’s blankets and bed sheets,” Agatha said.
From Jasfer’s hand, Lanceil stared at Agatha. “Fine. I can do that.”
‘Really?’ Agatha doubted that.
“Was it too much for you, Mr. Grim?” Jasfer asked.
As an answer, Lanceil pulled Agatha from Jasfer.
Agatha gasped and looked at her boss’s hand around her wrist, then up to his serious face.
“Miss Agatha can teach me,” Lanceil said. “I think we should start it as soon as possible. Right, Agatha?”
Blushing, Agatha avoided his gaze and mumbled, “Y-Yes, Sir.”
Jasfer looked alternately at the jealous Lanceil and the flustered Agatha. He still didn’t know what was going on, but he could notice one thing from them.
‘They are flirting.’
Jasfer clapped his hands and smiled at the two.
“Well, then, please feel free to start.”
Agatha and Lanceil started doing the laundry.
The orphanage has an automatic washing machine, so all they need to do is to hang the laundry on the hanging rack.
Lanceil was wearing comfortable clothes today. He’s wearing a simple gray shirt and black pants. And he didn’t style his hair either. Even so, he still looks handsome in Agatha's eyes.
‘Lanceil is really handsome,’ she thought before she clenched her fists, ‘but who cares if he’s handsome? He’s doing a bad job!’
Hanging the bed sheet, Lanceil tucked one corner into another, folded it in half, and slung on the clothesline by each end with the corners hanging down.
Agatha’s mouth went wide open.
She came from a wealthy household too. But at least, she learned how to do household chores. Watching Lanceil, she was more convinced why Lanceil needed to hire a maid.
‘He knows nothing.’
She was about to complain to her boss, but the wind shook the sheet, and it slapped Lanceil's face.
“Ugh! Ugh!” Lanceil coughed.
Agatha couldn’t stop her laughter. “Pfft…!”
Lanceil cocked back and narrowed his eyes and turned them into pairs of the crescent moon.
“Are you laughing at me?” he asked in a cold voice.
Usually, Agatha would feel intimidated by that voice. But because he talked like that in front of the laundry after getting slapped on his face, Agatha didn’t feel scared of her boss.
“Sir, you’re doing it wrong,” she said. “Let me help you.”
Agatha grabbed the sheet that Lanceil tried to hang. She held the corners while the others were held by Lanceil.
“You need to shake it first,” she said.
Nodding, Lanceil shook the fabric.
“Then, we need to fold it like this, and this. And hang it like this.”
Better than the first, they hung the sheets one by one.
Finally, they were almost finished. Just one more sheet to hang and they can rest.
“This is the last one, Sir. Please hold the corners.”
“Okay.”
“Then let’s shake…”
Without a cue, Lanceil shook the fabric. It was too strong that he accidentally pulled Agatha forward to him.
"Oh f*cking shit!" she gasped, falling in mid-air. She shut her eyes and was ready to feel the pain of falling.
But Lanceil caught her in his arms.
Agatha froze.
‘This is a chance, right?’ she thought. She didn’t mean to fall like that, but it seemed like heaven was helping her.
“That was a loud curse, Miss Agatha,” Lanceil said while holding her.
Her face turned pale as she remembered that she had just cursed out loud.
‘I messed again. Damn it.’
Just when Agatha thought that she messed up again, she suddenly heard Lanceil chuckling.
“I didn’t know that you could curse that much.”
‘He’s laughing?’
Curious, Agatha lifted her face and stared at her boss. The sunlight kissed his face, making him look bright like the sun above.
Her eyes went down to his nose and then stopped at his lips.
Without warning, her heart went into havoc. It beat fast as her face sprinkled in rose.
When Lanceil noticed her gaze, his smile subsided. He also looked at Agatha without taking his eyes off her beautiful face.
Just when the mood was great between them, one of the children approached the two.
“Oh? Do you have a new boyfriend now, sister Agatha?”
Agatha and Lanceil quickly moved away from each other. Then, they looked at the child.
The curious child began to ask again, “Sister Agatha, did you break up with brother Mik…”
Agatha covered the boy’s mouth before he could utter her ex-fiance’s name.
Even though Lanceil didn’t hear the name, he heard what he needed to hear.
Slowly, Agatha looked back at Lanceil. She gulped.
“You have… a boyfriend?” Lanceil asked.
