Sold as Slave Chapter 25

It’s been two days since Agatha and Lanceil met Brett in the orphanage. When Agatha woke up, her head felt heavy, and she felt chills on her hands and feet. Although she wanted to stay home, she had to go to the market to buy detergent. She was preparing to go out and was combing her hair in front of the mirror. Then she paused as she recalled what happened in the orphanage. After Lanceil pulled her away from Brett, Lanceil apologized to Jasfer and said that they needed to go back home. Agatha didn’t know what happened to Brett as she left together with her boss. ‘Did Brett do that to make Lanceil jealous?’ Since Brett said that he would help Agatha with her mission, Agatha thought her guess was right. But she still thinks there is a hidden agenda between her master and her boss. “Brett didn’t contact me after that,” Agatha mumbled, placing the comb down. She texted Brett, asking him what was the point of coming and doing those? But Brett didn’t respond. Aside from that, Agatha didn’t meet Lanceil again because he was busy with work. Agatha sighed. She was confused both at Lanceil and Brett. She caressed her aching nape and felt that she was burning with a light fever. “I have a fever.” When she breathed out, she felt as if a fire came out from her mouth. ‘Should I stay in the house?’ Agatha recalled that Vincent was staying in the condo. “No. I shouldn’t stay here.” Even if she didn’t feel good, Agatha came out of her room. At the same time, Vincent just exited his room. What a bad luck. Agatha pretended she didn’t see him, but Vincent talked to her. “Did you make breakfast?” he asked. Pausing her pace, Agatha looked at Vincent. “Breakfast is ready,” she gave a feeble response. She has no energy to fight Vincent today. Vincent noticed her voice and thinly narrowed his eyes at her red face. ‘Is she sick?’ he wondered. Unconsciously, Vincent approached the ill lady and was about to check her temperature. But before he could touch her forehead with his palm, Agatha stepped backward while glaring at Vincent. “What are you doing?” she asked him. Vincent thought hard about his recent action. ‘That’s right. What am I doing?’ he asked himself with a frown. Both knew there was no way for them to be in a position where they could worry about each other. Vincent’s hand which was in mid-air, clenched into a fury ball. He withdrew his hand away from her and walked past toward the kitchen. Just as she doesn’t have the mood to talk to him, Vincent surprisingly felt the same. Because he’s aware that his presence might worsen her condition. Likewise, he hates her but not to the point where he wants her to be sick. No more hurdles, Agatha went out of the condominium with heavy steps. Vincent heard the closing of the door, but he stayed seated and ate his breakfast. Outside the condominium building, Agatha continued her slow pace. At her slow movements, she guessed that the 20 minutes walking distance to the market might be doubled. There’s an earthquake inside her, and she felt so dizzy. Tired, Agatha sat on the bench near the closed electronic shop. She stayed there for a while to ease her dizziness. There was headache medicine inside her bag, and when she remembered it, she took the medicine. After a while, her cloudy visions turned a little bit clearer than before. “Okay. I’m ready.” She was about to stand up and go on her way when she suddenly heard a cute sound beneath the bench. “Meow.” “Huh?” “Meow meow.”’ Too dizzy to duck, Agatha sat on the ground to look at the cute creature beneath the seat. “Oh? A cat?” She saw a cat in a box. The color of the cat is white with patches of fading black. Around its face, there is a shadow-like patch of black fur. In the middle, she can see its big, bright, and round blue eyes. Through the patch, Agatha saw his white whiskers in a sticking-out fashion. Even the cat’s ears, paws, and tail are all black, while the rest of his body is covered in soft white fur. “So cute,” she murmured. The cat meowed as if it was responding to her. Ever since she was young, Agatha wanted to have a cat. But she was busy, both in her studies and her volunteering at the orphanage. So even though she had the money to get a pet, she did not. “If only I have my own house, I’ll take you,” Agatha said to the cat with a pout. The cat meowed at her. Agatha chuckled. “Can you understand me?” As she chuckled, Agatha noticed the label on the box. It says: “Please take me.” Somehow, Agatha saw herself through the cat. Agatha couldn’t take and save the cat. But she grabbed a pen from her bag and wrote something on the box. She bid goodbye and walked away. When she was gone, the man who’s been hiding at the sharp corner of the wall, went out of hiding. It was Lanceil’s brother, Vincent. He went out of the condo because he wanted to buy an ice cream. On his way, he saw Agatha. He didn’t know why he watched her and why he was hiding like an idiot. “Why did I always hide and listen secretly? Tsk.” Vincent walked to the bench and looked at the cat in the box. He saw the cat and his heart softened. “You look like someone I know,” Vincent said. Like Agatha, it has big, round eyes. The cat’s fur is white and black, like Agath’s pale skin and black long hair. Vincent suddenly felt so weird to see Agatha through the cat. Vincent took a deep breath. As he lowered his gaze, he saw the notes in the box. He remembered that Agatha scribbled something on it using her pen. [“Please take me.”] This is the original notes on the box. What Agatha added was, [“If no one would, who will?”] Vincent felt sad reading the words. He hates Agatha for approaching his brother. But nowadays, he noticed that his hatred was turning into something he didn’t want to name. Time passed. It was afternoon when Agatha arrived back in the condo building. She entered the elevator while groaning so hard. “Ahh, my head hurts.” Ting! The elevator door opened. Agatha went out and she accidentally bumped into a neighbor. “Ahhh!” The neighbor dropped her phone. Agatha looked down. With her dizzy vision, she looked at the phone screen of the neighbor. At the same time, the neighbor received a new text. [“You did a good job. We have already sent the money to your account. Just make sure that they won’t find the corpse.]
