Sold as Slave Chapter 13

Agatha’s POV “Agatha Samson.” “Miss Agatha Samson, your ID was placed in another storage. Please wait a minute as I get it.” The woman stood up and went in to get my ID that I will use to study in the review center. I was so happy when I received the email that I passed, and when my boss allowed me to study while working at the same time. “It was almost the best day for me.” Not until Vincent wrecked my mood with his perverted antics and arrogance. [“Right now, I am seducing you. If you want money, then date me instead. Stay away from my brother. You didn’t know how much he suffered before. Don’t give me a fuck, lady.”] But somehow, I couldn’t blame him for hating me and for trying to kick me out of Lanceil’s house. After all, I went there to seduce his older brother. ‘The only reason why Vincent kept my secret was because he was enjoying tormenting me physically.’ That bastard rubbed his d*ck on my ass and then threw money on my face. Hah! I should have punched him in the face instead of slapping him. ‘But even if I didn’t see it directly, I could tell that he’s quite big. Maybe because he was only wearing a bathrobe?’ If Vincent has a huge thing, maybe Lanceil also has… ‘What the fuck am I thinking?!’ I wasn’t like this before! ‘This is all because of Brett’s teaching!’ In the end, I decided to blame it all on Brett. Standing by the counter, I shook my head and laughed at myself pathetically. I looked at the clock and wondered what was taking the lady so long. And then, I felt someone standing by my side. I naturally tilted my head to see who it was because he was exceptionally tall. The man was engrossed with his book, he couldn’t even notice that I’d been staring at him with widened eyes and opened mouth. I was so surprised to see him, not only because he was fucking handsome, but because he is the last person I wanted to bump into. ‘Of all people, why did I see this guy tonight?!’ I covered my face and looked in the opposite direction. What’s the point of choosing a review center far from my University when I still bumped into my ex-fiance? While he hasn’t seen me yet, I walked quietly without attracting his attention. “Miss Agatha Samson, this is your ID.” Or so I thought. I looked at the lady who took so long to get my ID, and who shouted my name out loud. She didn’t shout it literally but that was how it sounded to me. Using my peripheral vision, I saw my ex-fiancé looking in my direction, which I tried to ignore. I know he recognized me by now, but I hope he will play oblivious. “Thank you,” I responded to the lady as I got my ID. ‘Don’t look at him. Be natural. Stay calm.’ I chanted those spells in my head while doing my very best not to incline my head and look straight into his eyes. Because once we meet each other’s gaze, moving on will be a child’s dream again. And I don’t want to return to what I was after we broke up. “It will be a 2-hour study session starting tomorrow. Since you chose the night shift, we have 5-7, 7-9, 9-11. 11- 1. May I know which you prefer, Miss Samson?” “9-11.” “All right. I will write that on the list. Thank you and see you tomorrow.” Once I finished my business, I turned around and left the review center as fast as I could. ‘It’s okay. I’ll be home in a minute. There’s no need to feel anxious.’ I kept on walking away with my beating heart, believing that this day would end in peace. “Agatha.” A large hand held my wrist and pulled me back. As I turned around, tears were already flowing down my cheeks. I thought I was already strong enough to face Mikhail again. Yet, it was a futile dream. I gazed upon Mikhail and the hand he used to stop me from leaving. Although I missed him so damn much, I felt agitated seeing how he chased after me after all the things he had done. “Let go.” Two words were enough for Mikhail to let go of my hand. The next second, I lowered my head because I didn’t want to see his face. “It’s been months,” Mikhail mumbled. “You suddenly disappeared. Where are you staying right now?” I couldn’t reply to his question. My throat hurt, and my heart was threatening to burst into fury. “I heard your house was sold. So, are you staying with one of your rel…” “Please shut up,” I said. Mikhail stopped talking. At least during a situation like this, he is obedient. “You have the least right to ask those questions, Mikhail. Never once have I forgotten how we broke up. So, stop acting as if you truly cared for me and get lost.” “…” “If you hold me back again, I’ll kill you.” I turned around and ran from him. With each step I took away, memories of the breakup flashed back in my mind. It was all vivid to me as if it only happened yesterday. Mikhail has been my rival ever since high school. We bickered first and then got closer. When we entered college, we found out that our fathers decided to arrange a marriage between us. In the process, we fell in love. But fate was cruel, and my crown was taken away. It was as if Cinderella lost her glass slipper, but my Crown Prince wasn’t there to save me from distress. And when I asked Mikhail why we broke up, this is how he answered me. [“The reason why I approached you even if you were so annoying, don't you get it? It is only because you are from a well-off family. You must be thinking that I dated you because I really love you. Don't be mistaken. Back then, I believed that if the two of us get married someday, it will help both of our businesses. But your family is not in a good state anymore. So, I don’t see any reason why we should still contact each other.”] Mikhail didn’t love me. We only became friends and lovers because I came from a well-off family. And now that I lost all my wealth and dignity, he abandoned me. I closed my eyes and exhaled the suffocating air that I had been holding for a long time. His voice kept ringing inside my ears. When I opened my eyes, I found myself standing near the riverside under the City’s largest bridge. I sat there, looking at nothing and crying like an idiot. As typical as another heartbroken maiden, I cried and shouted to get all the stuff out of my chest. “Mikhail Shit! You stupid moron! I'll forget you soon! Mark my words!" In some way, it helped. Sitting on the bench, I bent my knees and ducked my head down. I didn’t know how much time had passed. If it wasn’t because of my ringing phone, I might have stayed in this place all night. Ting! With swollen eyes, I checked my phone and saw my boss’ name. [“It’s midnight. I allowed you to go out of the house but it’s rude to stay outside and let your boss wait. Go home if you don’t want to sleep on the street.” – Lanceil] Every heartbroken's enemy is a boss who always calls at the wrong time. Mad at this moment, I was about to throw away my phone but hesitated because I remembered that I can't afford to buy a new one. “My day is ruined. I shouldn’t get my hopes high next time.” I stuffed my phone inside my bag. When I was ready to go, I saw a candy on the bench and a small note beside it, which I hadn’t seen before. I picked up both the candy and the note, and read it. [“Stop crying. You look ugly when you cry.”] “What kind of bastard wrote this?” I looked around and saw no one except me. Did someone put this while I was crying and leaning my head on my knees? I didn’t notice it at all. “But even if that person called me ugly, this is… comforting.” With a smile, I opened the wrap of the candy and ate it. When I was eating the sweet candy, I suddenly felt so stupid. ‘What if this was drugged or poisoned?’ I should be insane for trusting someone I didn’t know. When I was about to spit out the candy, I received another text. But it wasn’t from my boss, but from someone I never thought would text me again. [“Pay me back for the candy. $2, including the interest” – Loan Shark Jerk”] Mr. Adam? Mr. Adam was here?! When? Why?! I looked around, searching for the loan shark lender, but failed to find even his shadow. Sighing, I stared at the note he wrote. [“Stop crying. You look ugly when you cry.”] Strangely, I found myself laughing while looking at the notes. “Maybe, he isn’t that bad.” I guess this candy can make someone lie.
