Shen Heyu heard his solution and just smirked faintly.
"Do you really think that today’s incident can be treated as if nothing happened? Do you believe this woman will just take the money and drop the issue? You’re thinking too simply."
Shen Heyu pointed out the flaw incisively. Lu Yi was stunned, and with a startled look at Shen Heyu, he fearfully asked, "Then, how do you plan to handle this?"
"Well, obviously, the two of us should get a divorce certificate; after that, it’s your business with this woman. However you handle it has nothing to do with me."
"No! I absolutely won’t get a divorce from you. Moreover, today’s incident was really a trap set by others. My heart has only you, don’t you know that? I have always been chaste, even though you have been married before, I have never despised you."
Shen Heyu chuckled, "Since you mind that point, why do you keep trying to please me?"
"Heyu, that’s not what I meant, you misunderstood. I meant I don’t mind it at all. No one is perfect; can’t you see this as a small mistake I made? I promise from now on I will keep my distance from any woman but you."
Lu Yi grabbed Shen Heyu’s hand, and Shen Heyu, feeling helpless, looked at Lu Yi—how could he not understand what she was saying?
"Lu Yi, are you out of your mind? Don’t you remember? From the beginning, we made it very clear and even signed an agreement. This marriage contract was merely for show and has no substantial meaning."
"Besides, have you forgotten the last clause in the agreement? It states that once Pei Yansi remarries, our marriage contract becomes automatically void, having no legal effect."

Lu Yi had truly lost his sanity. From the beginning, Shen Heyu shouldn’t have played this act with him. She originally did it to make Pei Yansi give up, but unexpectedly it triggered Lu Yi’s inappropriate desires.

Shen Heyu sighed deeply as she looked down at the man kneeling before her.
"Lu Yi, do you remember? After you spoke harshly to me last time, you similarly knelt and begged for forgiveness. I was soft-hearted and forgave you then, but the nature of this incident is different."
"How is it different? Isn’t it just that I did something wrong again and hurt you? I am apologizing and promising you I will correct my ways, and it won’t happen again." Lu Yi tightly clung to Shen Heyu’s hand; she took a step back.
"I am determined to divorce you this time, not because you did something wrong and hurt me, but because you have lost your initial resolve and have become obsessed, taking the act too seriously." That’s why Shen Heyu wanted to cut the Gordian knot—to end their contractual marriage sooner rather than later to avoid further complications.
"Heyu, can’t you really give me another chance? I am begging you so much, do I really need to kowtow to you?" Lu Yi, as if incomprehensible of Shen Heyu’s words, remained persistent.
"Lu Yi, I want to tell you, some matters can’t be solved by kneeling, nor can you evade them by doing so."
"Your emotions are too unstable right now. Let’s wait until you calm down, then we can discuss this matter properly."
Shen Heyu withdrew the hand he was holding and turned around, only to meet Chen Wenzhou’s intriguing gaze.
"So you went through all this trouble just to show me these things? What is your purpose, haven’t you always wanted to matchmake me and Lu Yi so that your sister would have one less rival?"
Shen Heyu was surprised at Chen Wenzhou’s change. There must be a reason behind his actions; it was hard to say whether there was a bigger plot waiting behind.
"Miss Shen, you are mistaken about me. I just didn’t want you to be in the dark, after all, no woman could tolerate her husband cheating."
Chen Wenzhou even smiled at Shen Heyu.
"No matter what you are planning today, I absolutely won’t let you succeed." Shen Heyu was about to leave, but just as she raised her foot to step out of the bedroom, a piercing scream sounded from behind.
"I’ve already said that if you don’t agree to my demands, I’ll jump right in front of you!"
"If I die, both of you are the murderers—it’s you who drove me to this!"
Xiao Hua woke up just in time to see Lu Yi kneeling in front of Shen Heyu, humbly begging. But Shen Heyu, without a glance, turned to leave. The long-ignored Xiao Hua finally exploded.
Xiao Hua screamed out and, while no one was paying attention, ran to the window and stood up.
Hearing her scream, Shen Heyu turned to look, just in time to see a woman jumping out of the window.
A harsh scream tore through the air above the hotel. Shen Heyu heard a thud, followed by the cluttered honking of car horns below, and various screams of passersby.
Shen Heyu immediately ran to the window. Peering down, she saw a woman lying on the ground below covered in a large pool of blood, surrounded by a crowd.
Some among the crowd around Xiao Hua were calling the police on their phones, others were calling for an ambulance, and some were taking photos or recording videos. Noticing someone aiming a camera at Shen Heyu’s window, she immediately stepped back, distancing herself from the window.
"Now the situation has escalated." Shen Heyu glanced at Lu Yi then at Chen Wenzhou.
Chen Wenzhou shrugged nonchalantly, "Why are you staring at me like that? I’ve been innocent from the beginning. Didn’t you hear what she said before jumping? If she dies, the murderers are you two—it’s you who conspired and drove her to this."
At such a critical moment, Shen Heyu had no energy to argue about this.
With a serious expression, Shen Heyu looked at Lu Yi and Chen Wenzhou.
