Lu Yi had his back to Shen Heyu and said something quite resentful.
Shen Heyu frowned upon hearing this. She walked over to the bedside and pulled open the curtains. The glaring light flooded in; Shen Heyu squinted subconsciously and turned to look at Lu Yi lying on the bed.
Lu Yi too was squinting from the strong light.
"Why are you saying things like that again?" Shen Heyu said gently, patting Lu Yi’s shoulder. Lu Yi finally turned to look at her.
"Didn’t you just go to confront Yansi about what happened last night? What did he say?" Lu Yi looked at Shen Heyu, curious about what had transpired between her and Yansi. He saw no signs of disappointment or sadness on her face.
"It’s nothing, just asked him to investigate what happened last night, that’s all."
What Lu Yi feared the most had eventually happened.
The issue from last night was already handled by Chen Wenzhou, but it was hard to tell if Yansi might discover any traces.
If Yansi found any flaws and if Shen Heyu learned that he had schemed with Chen Wenzhou against her and Yuexue, she would certainly be utterly disappointed in Lu Yi. Then, their relationship would truly be over.
"I’ve already told you about what happened last night, why don’t you believe me? You’d rather go to Yansi than trust me. Do I really not deserve your trust in your heart?"
Out of fear and panic, Lu Yi vented his inner unrest helplessly and furiously in front of Shen Heyu.
Seeing Lu Yi’s sudden emotional burst, Shen Heyu only felt a bit exhausted and sighed, but considering his severe injuries, she didn’t rebuke him.
"I didn’t say I didn’t believe you, nor did I say I believed Yansi. I just asked Yansi to investigate what happened last night and give me an explanation."
"Isn’t that just the same as not trusting me?" Lu Yi continued to be unreasonable, trying to confuse the concept, divert Shen Heyu’s attention, and completely drive a wedge between the emotions and trust between Shen Heyu and Yansi.

"Lu Yi..." Shen Heyu said in a drawn-out, helpless tone.
"I know many things have happened recently, making you restless, but you can’t be so hard on yourself. If you don’t take your medicine and cooperate with the treatment, you’re only hurting your own body." Shen Heyu continued to soothe Lu Yi, hoping he would calm down and cooperate with the doctor.
But Lu Yi simply wouldn’t listen to Shen Heyu. He stubbornly questioned, "So what if it’s my body that gets hurt? You don’t care anyway. If you really cared about me, you wouldn’t neglect me and go ask Yansi about what happened last night."
"You can’t trust a person like Yansi. You’ve been by his side for three years; don’t you know what kind of person he is? Have you forgotten what he did to forcibly keep you by his side over the past three years?"
Shen Heyu certainly hadn’t forgotten.
Just as her thoughts were about to delve deeper, Lu Yi suddenly raised his hand and grabbed Shen Heyu’s wrist forcefully—as if he were dragging her back to reality in one fell swoop.
"Heyu, I’m talking to you. Why are you zoning out? You weren’t thinking about Pei Yansi just now, were you?"
At such moments, the name Pei Yansi was like an emotional stimulant for Lu Yi, and Shen Heyu couldn’t possibly tell him the truth.
Shen Heyu took a deep breath, her only option was to placate Lu Yi, "I wasn’t thinking about him. I was just thinking about how I could get you to obediently follow the doctor’s orders and take your medicine."
"Really? Were you really not thinking about him just now?" Lu Yi even doubted Shen Heyu’s words.
"Of course, it’s true. Now, will you take your medicine?"
"Well, I’ll take my medicine today, but in the future, stop interacting with that Pei Yansi. He will stop at nothing to get you back, and I’m truly afraid he might do something excessive."
Shen Heyu half-listened to him and watched as Lu Yi obediently took his medicine, finally feeling relieved.
"You should rest now that you’ve taken your medicine. I’ll go check out the supermarket." Shen Heyu didn’t want to stay in the hospital room. She felt like she couldn’t breathe around Lu Yi.
"Be back early. I hope you’re the first person I see when I open my eyes later."
Shen Heyu nonchalantly agreed before picking up her purse and leaving the hospital room.
As soon as she stepped out of the room, she unexpectedly saw someone around the corner.
Why was Pei Yansi here?
Shen Heyu anxiously looked around her living environment. If Lu Yi saw Pei Yansi now, it would surely cause another uproar. Feeling a headache coming on, she quickened her steps toward Pei Yansi.
She grabbed Pei Yansi’s wrist and pulled him toward the elevator entrance, "Why are you here? You know Lu Yi doesn’t want to see you. He’s seriously injured right now, and seeing you will destabilize his emotions."
Pei Yansi glanced at the hand Shen Heyu had on his wrist, "He’s a patient. Aren’t I, too? Shen Heyu, don’t you forget that the knife wound in my abdomen hasn’t completely healed yet."
Hearing this, Shen Heyu jerked her hand back as if she had received an electric shock.
Just then, the elevator dinged open, and two nurses smiled at them as they exited the elevator.
Shen Heyu and Pei Yansi stepped into the elevator, and as the doors slowly closed, the nurses’ gossipy voices drifted in.
