Annabel was calling and Rose picked up.
On the phone...
"We are there now. Oh my God! Here is heaven!" She sounded so excited and astonished on the phone. Her voice sounded crazy and was so loud that Rose had to distance the phone from her ears so she wouldn't suddenly go deaf.
It was so obvious that she, herself, Rose was so surprised to see such a luxurious party.
"Shhhhh. Reduce your voice, you might catch an attention from people." Rose replied. She already knew how crazy her friend could be, she had already imagined Annabel's reactions. She already knew what Annabel was doing when she said those words of hers. She was so sure that she must have dragged some people's attention to herself. The girl was just so happy that she didn't know how to express it.
"Aaaaaaaaaaaah!" She screamed again and Rose distanced the phone from her ears and brought it back after she had noticed that the scream was over.
"Why are you shouting? Please don't show your silly and naughty attitude here."
"Oh, ok. I will try." She replied happily.
"Me and Mara are outside the premises. Where are you both and how do we find our way in?"
"Someone will come and pick you. Where are you both?" She asked and Annabel told her.
"Ok. Just a minute."
The call ended.
Few minutes later, Annabel walked in with Mara. They were able to locate where Rose was by the help of Evidence's bodyguards. Rose saw how moody Mara was and wanted to ask what happened but decided not to. Annabel and Mara exchange pleasantries with Mr. Evidence as Annabel gives Rose a naughty and crazy look that describes 'you are finally with your man.' Rose smiled when she was able to interpret Annabel's look.
Moments later, Annabel and Mara found an empty seat and table that were arranged near Evidence and Rose. They sat there and never left their sight from the both of them. Boss and caregiver.
"Hey! Did you see that?" Annabel asked.
"See what?"
"Didn't you see how close they are both sitting? Oh my God!" She covered her mouth with her palm and removed her hand again.
"He just held her hand. Oh God! I'm jealous." Said Annabel.
Mara was curious and she wanted to see what Annabel was talking about. She decided to look at Rose and Evidence and kept on looking and kept looking and never left her sight off Mr Evidence and Rose so she didn't miss any scene. She was so curious that she wanted to see everything.
"Oh my god! I just saw it. He held her hand again.
Annabel said; "You see! I told you. Look but don't make it obvious. Look at them stylishly. Can you see that? Oh my God! Evidence just smiled. Rose just smiled too." She shyly covered her face and wished she was the one experiencing such with Evidence.
Mara replied. "I wonder what he had told her. See." She pointed. "she's blushing. She just covered her face with her hand. Look! she pointed again.
"Shhhhhh. Reduce your voice and don't point fingers at them!..."
Before Anabel could finish her statements, what they both saw rendered them speechless.
"Please, I want to faint." Annabel said unto seeing another romantic scene presented before them.
The scene that caught their eyes was when Rose was about to pick up the following pen on the floor and then evidence held her hand. I never want to let go.
"Oh God! I'm flabbergasted, you know? said Mara.
"Me too, I am flabbergasted by my sister. Oh my God! Evidence just smiled again! said Mara I thought he doesn't smile" said Annabel.
"Me too, I thought he hardly smile."
They were wrong. Well, Evidence was known to be a serious person at all times and people never knew who he really was until they come closer to him.
After some time, Annabel looked serious as she remembered what had happened to Mara and decided to talk about it.
"Do you say you remember who they were? I mean the person who ambushed you and the second person. Your saviour." She asked, looking serious as she creased her brow.
"I can't seem to remember the mask man but I'm sure of whose voice he possessed. I'm afraid that he shouldn't be that person. I will be so disappointed if he should be.
The both girls sat as they continued their conversation, almost forgetting the romantic scene Rose and her boss had played before them.
Some moments later, Annabel felt depressed and needed to use the restroom while Mara sat on her seat, waiting for The Naughty girl to arrive.
On her way to the restroom, she came across some annoying fools. They tried stepping on her toes but she kept avoiding them. They had actually blocked her from getting to the bathroom. They felt she had helped their prey escape and she needed to pay for what she had done.
When she realized that they were 3 in number and were all on her, she got curious and wondered about her crime.
"What do you want from me?" She asked. Her voice didn't show that she was scared or nervous. In fact, at that Moment, Annabel was ready to fight them. She only tried holding her anger when she remembered her dearest Rose. She didn't want to ruin the day for her as she tried avoiding them.
She swallowed and decided to take a different road from the current one she was on but nothing seemed to work out. They followed her as well and blocked her path.
"If you know who i am, you all will be scared to block my way." She threatened.
"Now leave my path!. She commanded.
Annabel breathed deeply, trying her best to calm herself. It was really hard for her to do so but the thought of Rose and Mara miraculously helped her lower her blood pressure that was about to burst.
She was about to glance at Mara and Rose just to be sure they weren't looking at her when suddenly, another fool appeared before her. This fool purposely pushed her aside. She knew it wasn't a mistake because he had an annoying smirk on his face instead of an apologetic one. Annabel finally snapped! Why do you guys keep pushing me to do this? Why now? Why these particular nights of all nights?
The anger she was trying so hard to keep at bay burst out like an erupting volcano and she immediately grabbed the fool’s collar with such force that the man’s eyes widened in surprise. she looked at him in furious eyes and if looks could kill, he would have already dropped dead on the ground. No! She couldn't hold her anger anymore!.
One of the men from the gang came and surrounded her as she pulled the man’s necktie, trying to choke him. It seemed these guys were all together. It was so obvious that they planned this!.
“What a fearless, strong little girl. Can you bring me down? Baby girl?” Another one asked and all other thought, except to beat this guys until they begged her for mercy was pushed aside as Annabel lost it.
“Bastards! I will beat you all. I won't rest until I see your bodies drop lifeless”. She angrily said.
“Sure… How about you start it now?” one of the men said.
Annabel smirked like a little demoness as she dragged the one she was choking, behind her. She was really consumed with her anger. She knew that she had passed the point of being able to calm herself down anymore, unless she beat these damn bastards to pulp.
The men were laughing as they followed behind her, looking at each other like she was going to be a piece of cake. There were four of them, including the one she dragged by the necktie.
Annabel pushed the blue suit man away from her and looked at each man who now surrounds her. There was a blue suit man, Two black suit men and the 4th one who dressed casually but also looked handsome. From the bunch of them, the man in the blue suit and the two men on black seemed to be the cool ones by the look of their outfit, so she faced them three, her back on the casual man, and waited for any of them to make the first move. As expected, The casual man was the first to attack, he took the advantage of Annabel backing him, he was sorely mistaken. A quick but strong back kick to his stomach sent him flying backward and alerted the other two into action.
One of the black suit men from her left was the first to get to her, throwing a punch towards her head. She caught his wrist with her left hand as she dodged to the right and then threw a small uppercut which landed on his stomach. Her right arm grabbed his punching arm and she used her energy to flip him into his back. The man landed with a heavy thud on the ground and she threw a few quick punches to his face for good measure.
She turned to her right and put both arms in front of her to protect her head as a punch landed on her arm. She didn’t feel anything. Her anger combined with Adrenalin did a great job in numbing the pain.
Unfortunately for the second black suit man, he left himself open after hitting her and she took the advantage. She leaped up from her half squatting position and threw a series of punches on his face and stomach, making him dagger backwards from her onslaught. He tried to defend himself but she couldn’t give him the chance. In the end, she knocked him out with a right hook.
She turned around and saw the casual man coming at her and she ducked, avoiding the sloppy punch that he threw her way. Annabel quickly straightened up and threw a hard kick into the man’s schlong area; when it connected, he toppled over in pain. She then went and gave him loving treatment as his buddies until her arm started to get heavy.
Annabel stopped, looked around her and was satisfied.
A man stood at the shadows and he watched the magnifying scene presented before him as he enjoyed the show. He was amused, impressed and speechless as he watched her. He had seen her leave her seat and headed towards the restroom when those thugs attacked her and he thought that he could at least act like a hero and be the hero of the day But the result only made him laugh.
This girl was fierce and he absolutely liked that.
Back at the ballroom, Mara met an old friend as he sat with her and they started to talk.
"Hey! It's been a long while, you know?" He said
His name was Daniel.
"Yes, dear. I actually lost your contact and that's why I couldn't connect with you." Mara replied.
What happened to her hours ago never left her head but she never wanted her mood to get so obvious that people would start asking her what the problem was.
She smiled.
"So, how is everyone, how is dad and sister?"
"Sister is fine and we lost dad."
"Oh my God. What happened?"
"Let's not talk about it. So what are you doing here?"
"My friends and I were invited to this party." He pointed at Mr. Evidence. "Here he is. The other dude, I don't know where he has gone. We are three in number actually."
They kept talking and exchanging pleasantries.
"Who did you come with?" He asked.
"I came with my friend Annabel." She replied, stretching out her neck as if she was looking for someone when she pointed in the direction Annabel had gone and said;
"she went that way. She was here with me some moments ago when she told me she wanted to use the restroom and hadn't returned yet.
"Restroom! She went to the restroom alone!?" He asked with so much fear in his voice.
“It is quite dangerous for a girl to go to the restroom alone,” The restroom is located very far from this building and so many dangerous things could happen and no one would know about it.
“Dangerous?”
“Some drunk men have been known for assaulting girls there if one is not careful”.
Mara's eyes cycled in shock and her heart began to beat wildly. She started to worry about her friend. She tried to call Rose and inform her what the issue was but she thought not to disturb her moment with Mr. Evidence. Mara looked at the direction her friend went and still couldn’t see any trace of her friend. To make the matter worse, as time went on, more influential people were still coming and the environment began to look crowded. That alone got Mara scared, even though she knew that Annabel wasn't a weak girl, she still wanted to be sure that her friend was ok.
