They got home, Rose stepped down from the car and walked straight into her room while Mr. Evidence also walked into his room with his face still the same.
Inside Rose's room…
She stood in front of the mirror and undressed herself slowly. She looked at the mirror without blinking her eyes as she remembered Evidence's berserk scene. She kept wondering why he got really angry for just that lite thing that happened earlier. She wondered if someone had got him angry but she was sure no one did. She was with him all through the time they stepped their feet into that Rock Is Free hotel.
Still undressing herself, she asked inwardly. 'Was that jealousy?' She nodded her head in disbelief. A few moments later, she finished undressing herself as she walked into the bathing room to refresh herself. After that, she came out to put on her nighty when her phone rang as she picked up the second ring.
On the phone…
"Rose."
"Yes."
"Whatsup with you? What happened? What did that bastard do? I saw your mood while we were leaving and I was certain that something had happened. So tell me, what's the issue.?"
"I'm… I'm okay." She struggled to speak. Annabel noticed how weak her voice was, she knew that her friend wasn't happy and she was so sure of that!
"Tell me sweetheart, what's the matter with you? Where are you? I'm coming right away."
Rose was quick to rebuke Annabel's statement, she didn't want Annabel to step into Evidence's house. She knew Annabel to be a fire and fire can't quench fire. Evidence was fire and she knew that Mr. Evidence's fire was the greater one.
"Give me the address, I'm coming."
"No, no, no, no. No need to come, okay? I'm fine. Trust me I am so don't worry over nothing.
"What did that bastard do to you?"
"He didn't do anything to me, infact, I was the one who hurt him but I know I didn't."
"What happened?"
"We will talk later okay? But not on the phone sweetheart. Are you home now? Is Mara okay?"
"Yes, we are home and Mara is fine. Just take good care of yourself, okay? Talk to you soon."
The call ended.
Rose hastened up to put on her sleeping clothes as she sat on the chair that was placed close to a table where books were arranged. It appeared that the chair and table were beautifully arranged for whoever wishes to use them to read the arranged books. She sat as she waited to see if Mr. Evidence would come in. She waited for him for like two hours when she drifted out without her notice. She was now placing her head on the table as she slept like a baby.
In Evidence's room…
He had already undressed himself and had taken his shower as well and was now sitting on his bed.
He was confused and didn't know what to do. He started to regret his actions a few hours ago. He wished he never reacted that way. He wondered why he reacted in such a manner with so much anger in him.
At this point, the bed was now uncomfortable for him. He couldn't sit down any longer as he forcefully stood from the bed, placing his two hands inside his pockets as those scenes of his began to flash back. He could see how he angrily threw those plates of ice cream, he could see her reactions, he could see how she tried to calm him down, he could see how he scolded her. Immediately he remembered that last scene, he began to blame himself, he started to hate his actions towards her.
"I should have controlled my anger! I should have!" He frustratingly said as he angrily walked towards the wall and started to punch it countless times with so much energy. After he was done, he backed the fall and fell with his knees to the ground and imagined if Rose would ever forgive him.
He forcefully stood up and walked towards the door but stopped suddenly. His pride had appeared before him.
'What are you trying to do? Beg her? Why should you? She is just a caregiver you know? Have you forgotten who you are? Wait… don't tell me you are loving her… have you forgotten so soon? Have you forgotten that what you seek will never last? Have you?' So many things were going through his mind when he decided to listen to that spirit of pride.
He walked back and stood in front of a mirror, gazed at his reflection, took a deep sigh of relief, placed back his two hands inside his pocket as he became mute for some time but then decided to speak after being quiet for some time. He picked up his phone and called Mike.
"Is everyone home now?
"Yes, Boss."
"Where is Stephen, Sammy and the rest?"
"They are all inside, boss."
"Ok, take care of the compound and ensure the gateman locks the gate properly. Do that now and submit the gate key to me." He instructed.
Mike obeyed and returned after some time to Mr. Evidence as he handed over the gate key to him
At Annabel's Place…
Mara and Annabel were already getting ready to go to bed when Mara remembered Annabel's fighting scene.
"Did you beat them alone?" Mara asked and Annabel smiled.
"Will you teach me? I just want to learn how to fight so that I can always be able to defend myself from whoever dares to harm me. Please… will you teach me?"
"You are being crazy now girl. You know, right? Heh! Before I forget, when do you intend to call your sister? So you can inform her about the incident."
"I lost my iPhone 13 but I will buy the iPhone 13 pro Max tomorrow. I will inform her after that."
"Good. Let's sleep. All the joints in my body hurt badly." She stretched out her arm as sleep took over both of them.
