Chapter 45 Confusion and secrets
It's the first day back in the office and it's already been a busy day and I am already tired. With training classes this morning and for some reason rogues keep coming in our direction. We took care of them but it doesn't set right with me and I'm scared there will be more. It's the second time in the past two weeks.
I just finished some paper work and it really feels like I should be doing something else. What is it?
I hear a knock on the door and it's Mia, Lucas' mate. "Remember you have a reading with the children."
Right. "What would I do without you?" I get up and quickly make my way to the children.
"And they lived happily ever after."
"Wow." All the kids say in awe.
"I hope I find my prince charming."
"Oh you will. We all have that one special someone out there waiting for us."
"Do all the stories have happy endings?"
"What do you mean Levi?" I close the book and put it on the shelf.
"Every story I hear there is always the girl who meets her true love or they all find happiness. My parents didn't." He frowns.
I call him up and sit him on my lap. "No, Levi. Not all stories have an happy endings. We all wish they did though."
"I'm happy you and the Alpha got your happy ending."
"Me too bud." I kiss him on the cheek. "Who wants me to read another story?" They all put their hands up eagerly and I laugh at how adorable they are.
I just left the kids and I headed straight to the office. Andrew has been out all day patrolling because of the rogue situation and hasn't been back yet. I sit at the desk and wait for him. He's probably going to come back here before going home.
Why not rest my eyes while I'm waiting for me.

"I got say you're beautiful."
"Thanks?"
"Where would you stay?"
"I..I don't know, I thought I would look for an apartment in the city"
"I want you to stay here" he stated.
"What? I can't stay here." Is he crazy?
"Why can't you?"......
"Wait, what's your name?"
"Cristian."
......
I hear a knock on the door and I jolt awake.
Emma pokes her head in. "Elle, just the girl I wanted to see. How are you today?" She walks in looking nervous.
"I'm-" before I could answer she cuts me off.
"Good. Good. You're good. Me you ask? I'm great. I'm over the moon."
"Emma slow down. What's the problem?"
She pauses and nervously bites her lips. She opens her mouth to talk but then stops. She sits down and says, "I'm pregnant."
I jump out of my seat to hug her. "What? Omg that's great news!" I stop for a second. "Weren't you at Andrew's party?"
"Yes but I wasn't drinking. Who do think got Christopher home?"
I sit on the table. "Why don't you look happy?"
"I am but.... I haven't told Chris yet."
"What? Why?"
"He's got a lot on his plate right now. I don't think it's a good idea to bring a child down on him too."
"What are going to do, keep it from him? Tell him I'm sure he'll be happy to here he has a little junior in there." She puts her hand on her stomach and smiles.
"You think?"
"Yeah." I pause confused. "Why did you come to me?" We're not exactly bestfriends.
"I don't know."
She continues to tell me that she is one month far long. She is scared considering this is her first child and afraid she won't do a good job but I personally think she will be a great mother.
She agreed to tell Chris tonight and left right away, but it's got me thinking. Everyone is getting married or is already married and have a bun in the oven. It is tradition to start your family at least one year after meeting your mate especially for the Alpha and Luna. Just in case if there was anything to happen to either of us there is already a next heir.
Andrew and I talked about this last year but never really saw the need to it, but now I might....
After a few minutes of over thinking I fall asleep in the chair. I feel someone take me up in their arms. I get a flash back of Cristian doing the same thing and the only thing that snapped me back is Andrew's scent. I grab on to his tank top and bury my face in his chest.
What is wrong with me?

It's been two weeks and I keep getting I keep getting flash backs of every moment I had with Cristian. I haven't told anyone, not even Andrew. I thought it was just me emotionally but it keeps getting worse. I have to tell him.
But after breakfast with his parents. They just got back from a three week meeting with a pack from the West, concerning the rogue situation. We will be discussing what happened later but right now is family time.
"So how have things been since we left?"
"Other than the rogue problem everything has been under control." Andrew answered.
"That's good to hear. Andrew, I feel so bad that we missed you're birthday."
"Just to be clear. I don't." Jessica inputted.
Andrew smiles at her but doesn't make remark. "Mom I already told you it's fine."
"I know but it's not like your baby turns 21 everyday."
"He's not a baby anymore Plum." Jackson said.
"He'll always be my baby boy." Andrew sighs and downs his orange juice. "Elle sweetheart." I turn my attention to Veronica. "You've been quiet all morning." She looks at me concerned.
I have? "Oh I'm just not fully awake yet." Actually my dreams about Cristian have been on my mind and I can't stop wondering what it means. I don't know if Andrew has sensed my uneasiness but he hasn't confronted me about it.
"It's been that busy huh? You'll get use to it for the first five years. Well that's how long it took me. So you got 3 more." She smiles.
How comforting.
Andrew places his hand on my leg and rubs it. "Mom stop scaring her."
"I'm just joking sweetie. It's tiring but you'll be fine. Now that I'm back I can help like I use to."
I smile gratefully. "Thank you."
"Anytime." She continues to eat and so do I. Well munching on the toast I have been taking bits and pieces of for the past 5 minutes.
Jackson jumps up out of no where and asks, "What does a house wear?" He looks around at us but no one answers. "Address."
I bust out laughing while everyone drops their head on the table. I stop for a second. That one was actually good. "Good one." I reach over and give him a fist bump.
We chose to talk in the living room where most comfortable and Jessica left somewhere. She looked sneaky but it's none of my business. Probably some boy.
"So the Night walker pack have been having the same problem has us with rogues. Their behavior have been more off than usual."
"More vicious." Veronica adds.
"Their more fast, stronger, and we all know when separated from your pack you're weaker. It's always been easy to take them down but now it's different. Something has changed."
"Did they have any idea of what it is?"
"They did keep one hostage but he killed himself before we could even ask him anything."
"Killed himself?" I asked confused on why he would kill himself.
"Heart ripped out."
As he said that the visual of Cristian's death plays out in my head. I shift uncomfortably and rapidly blink my eyes to get the image from head.
Andrew takes my hand in his and rubs the back with his thumb. I calm myself down as I feel his soft touch.
"So we got nothing?" Andrew asks.
"Well the Night walkers realized they only attack at night or early in the morning just before sunrise. So they are going do what they do best."
Andrew and I look at them waiting for them to elaborate.
"Night walk." Jackson says tiredly. "I have been around them too much to even say those words."
Veronica looks at sympathetically and rubs his shoulders. Apparently they say that phrase a lot. They find them annoying but their the only ones with this problem so far and one of the best in the West. So I don't know if it's a win or coincidence.
"They will be reporting back to us as soon as they can get their hands on one and not harm them or let them harm themselves."
I've never seen one in person. The first time I was in the city with Anna and I only heard about it after I got back. The second time Andrew didn't want me anywhere near them. Whatever he saw really scared him.
