Chapter 42 Recovery
ELLE'S POV.
"I don't know." I cry.
I feel a hand on my shoulder and I look up. "Mom?"
"Not exactly."
I stand up and look at her confused. "What do you mean? Where am I?"
"I'm your conscious. You're in your head."
"Why? What happened?"
She didn't answer.
Suddenly everything started rushing in. The war, Alejandro, Simon, Vampires, demons, Cristian.
I gasp. Cristian.
"Is he really-?" I couldn't bring myself to finish the question.
"Yes."
My breath starts to get shaky. I look around and it's just plain white. "Why did you take me here?"
"I didn't. You did."
With a confused face I ask her, "Why would I bring myself here? To nothing?"
"Who is it Elle?"
No. Not this again. "I don't know. What do you want from me?!"
"I need you to wake up."
She suddenly disappears. I look around confused.
What?
"Wake up Elle!" She screams.
I cover my ears and shut my eyes wanting to block her out.
"You can't block me out Elle." I slowly remove my hands from my ears as I hear a different voice. It's Elizabeth. "Who is it Elle? Who causes you pain?"
"I don't know. Everyone."
"Specific. Specific Elle."
"Cristian?" He didn't tell me about Olivia.
"No!"
"Simon." He betrayed me.
"Think again." It was now Eva in her wolf form.
I fee like I'm going in circles.
"Alejandro." He killed my family.
"Who makes you question yourself? Hated yourself and love herself?" I try to rack my brain for the people who would cause me pain. But no one else does. "I need you to think. Remember!"
"Ahh!" I freeze as one word runs through my mind. "Andrew." How could I forget him? I didn't remember anything about the pack helping. I look her confused. "Why didn't I remember Andrew?"
"You like to challenge yourself." She disappears and this huge ball appears in front of me.
It's showing me at school a couple years ago. "I remember this day. It was the day after my 16th birthday. Eva just surfaced and we were arguing." I smile as I remember it was over something dumb.
"I was so caught up with her I got distracted and ran into Andrew, he was so nice to me. The entire day he was so sweet, we talked and hanged out all day. He was like my first friend. But the next day, he never said anything to me again. Didn't even look at me."
"And then you met in the janitors closet two years later." Mom or my conscious commented.
"Yeah. I might of said I hated him but the truth is I really liked him ever since that day. When he rejected me it was like that all over again except 10 times worse."
"But now something changed. He changed and I forgive him." I wipe the tears from my eyes and turn around to face her. "Why?"
"You're dying and you need to heal yourself. Right now you can't do that by yourself. You need your mate and the bond between you two to strengthen you to wake up." She pauses and steps closer to me. "This was the only way I could get you to wake up. Now heal yourself." She puts her hand on my forehead and a white light shines in front of me.
I could feel myself surface. I'm wake.
I could feel Andrew next to me. " I miss seeing that beautiful smile and those eyes." He pauses. "I want you to open those beautiful brown eyes and tell me you love me again."
I smile and say, "I love you." I whisper.
I slowly open my eyes and look at him. He looks tired with bags under his eyes and from the looks of it, he hasn't eaten a lot. It makes me sad to see him like this.
He looks at me shocked with tears in his eyes. "Elle?"
"Hi."
A huge smile grows on his face. He kisses my hand and then forehead. "Oh I love you." He looks at me with joy, then something dawns on him. "I have to get the doctor."
"No-"
"I will be right back. Ok?" I sigh and nod.
For the next two weeks I have been in the ER and it's finally time for me to bust out of here.
I am fully healed, my back hurts here and there but it should clear up in a couple days.
Now Anna is doing my hair. She says I can't be walking out of here looking like medusa and I am too tired to argue even though tears a or forming in my eyes right now.
"Damn I hate your hair." She says as she drags the brush through my hair.
"Right back at ya." I say out of breath. She pulls at a certain spot and I scream. "Ow!"
"Sorry."
After some more pulling, pain and arguing she finally finished and did it in a low bun. She left to get me some clothes and I'm just waiting on her.
I hear a knock on the door and it's Daniel. I was shocked to see him because he hasn't came since I woke up. I thought he might of hated me.
Seeing him reminds me of Cristian because they look so much alike. "Hey Baby cheeks." He walks over to me.
"Daniel I am so sorry-" I was in the middle of apologizing but he surprises me with a hug. I hug him back confused.
"I am so glad you're ok?" He sighs of relief.
We pull away from each other. "How are you? Are you ok?"
"Honestly no but I'll get there. I just wanted to see you before I leave."
"You're leaving?"
"Not yet. I still have some things to do but in the next few days I will be leaving and going back to New Orleans." I could hear the pain in his voice and it hurts me to see him like this.
"So who is going to take over the castle?"
"Jeremiah. He was third in command and since Simon.."
"Yeah." I still can not believe it.
I hug him once more and we say our goodbyes.
"You're a strong one Elle and just know if you need anything you can call me."
Anna just came back and we're arguing again. "Anna this doesn't fit!" I say as I try to clip the bra on.
"Are you sure? It's your size."
I step out the bathroom. "Yes am sure. It's suffocating me."
"Are you sure you're not pregnant?"
"No!... w-well I don't think so." Wait we used condom. "No I'm not."
"Wait you had sex?!"
I just realized what I just said. "Maybe."
She starts screaming happily. "Aww my little sister had sex!" Then to disgust. "Ew my little sister had sex." Then gagging. "I just had a visual with you and Andrew."
I roll my eyes. "Oh stop it."
I decided not to wear any bra and we packed our things and left. As we left the ER the kids start showering me with flowers and everyone is welcoming me back as I pass them. It fills me with joy as I feel their love.
I leave Anna with Aiden and go straight to Andrew's office in the pack house.
"Hey babe, guess whose back?" I dance opening the door but stop as I see Cristian's mother.
"Laura." I said surprised.
She smiles sadly. "Hi Elle."
"I'm going to give you two some privacy." Andrew kisses me on the temple before he leaves.
"How are you?" She asks.
"You're asking me. How are you?"
"I-I'll be ok. I still have Daniel."
"I'm so sorry."
"For what dear?"
"It's my fault."
"No it's not. My son chose this battle. He lost but at the same time he won." She pauses and takes a deep breath. "Alejandro was always terrible to all of us and he loved power."
"I know this isn't any of my business but... why did you stay with him."
"Honestly I was too scared. Afraid of what he might have done if I took his sons." She pauses for a few seconds. "I just never thought he would crave power that much."
After a minute of silence I ask, "You'll be fine right? Both you and Daniel?"
"We will. And you keep fight Elle. Be the strong young woman you are." She hugs me and before she leaves she told me one more thing.
"Cristian will always be in our hearts."
Yes he will.
