Chapter 6

“You silly child!” Su Qing instantly started panicking . She wanted to reach out her hand to poke Mu Yunyao’s forehead, but the moment she saw the injuries that covered her entire body, she immediately stopped her actions .
Mu Yunyao moved forward to grab her hand and put it against her forehead . Her warm and dry palm against her forehead was the feeling that she had yearned for for so many years . As she remembered how she had passed the nights with a tearful face, her heart felt so very distressed . Her watery eyes were like the clear blue sky after a small drizzle, “Mother, Mother, Mother……”
She called and called again, she hid all the the years of sadness and longing into the word “Mother” .
“Oh, Mother is here, Mother is here,” Su Qing massaged Mu Yunyao’s head, her heart melted into a puddle of water . No matter what, Yao Er was still a little child, her ferocious demeanor from before was only because she had no choice but to act tough . It was all her fault, even her own daughter had to protect her .
After a warm moment with Su Qing, the both of them went to tidy up the little house and make dinner . Su Qing was still thinking about the fact that they would have to leave for the Zhang residence after four days . Her worried heart caused her to have no appetite .
Mu Yunyao knew that comforting Su Qing would be of no use . If she said too much, Su Qing would start crying again . After dinner, she helped her wash the dishes but was stopped by Su Qing, “Yao Er is hurt, go and rest quickly . ”
Seeing her eyes that were filled with worry and love, Mu Yunyao did not persist . She nodded her head and went back into the inner room .
Due to her injury being located on the back of her head, she could only lie forward . Ever since Father died, Mother was the only one supporting them . They barely had any firewood at home, thus the stove was always very cold . Their blankets had been used for many years, making them very hard and cold . Despite all these, Mu Yunyao had never felt so at rest . This home was so much better compared to the better quality beds and pillows in the Su residence and in the Jin Wang residence .
(T/N: “Wang” means king . “Jin Wang” is the title given by the Emperor to this person, usually the son/close relative . I’m not sure if this “Jin” is part of this person’s real name though . It could just be part of the title and have nothing to do with his real name . )

After an unknown amount of time, Mu Yunyao fell asleep . In her dream, she had returned to the Su family . Sharp curses entered her ears, “Look at this little wench . That was the First Young Miss’s fiance! You so do not even understand your own place, how dare you even aim for His Highness!”
“Her mother was a loose woman . This person climbed out of a nest full of men, how could she be clean?”
“The First Young Miss saw you as her own little sister, yet you went on to stab her behind the back! You repay kindness with evil, you ought to drown in the pond and be thrown into the pig sty!”
“Such a blackened heart……”
On a cold, wintry day, Mu Yunyao was covered only in thin clothes . She was dragged away from the bed and thrown onto the floor . Cold water was splashed onto her face, her face turned white and she found it hard to breathe . But still, she was not scared, because she knew, she had already climbed onto Jin Wang’s bed . These people would not dare to do anything to her before being sure that she was not going to be his concubine .
First Sister’s kind and gentle face was expressionless for the first time . She stared coldly at Mu Yunyao, her eyes were filled with disdain and hatred .
Her smile became even more brilliant as she saw Mu Yunyao’s face twist . Her heart felt incredibly comfortable .
Before, in the Su residence, Mu Yunyao had at first not been so full of hopelessness . Her position had been very awkward, but First Sister was the first one who treated her so very kindly . She was so beautiful and kind and warm . Mu Yunyao wanted so much to give all of her heart to her, protect her from any disasters, receive any punishment for her . But in the end, they had met with bandits while on the way to the temple, where she risked her life to protect her and help her escape . She was nearly caught and been forced onto when she was saved by a person .
She had risked her life to save her, but was faced with the cold hard truth .
Those bandits were hired by First Sister to attack her, all because Jin Wang had complimented her: You are very pretty……
All her kindness had been an act for people to see, to make people think that she was very kind, and also to see whether if Mu Yunyao could be of any use .
Thus, even though she had known that Jin Wang was First Sister’s fiance, she plotted to sleep with him . When she was about to be beaten to death, she revealed that she was pregnant with his child . This information slapped First Sister hard across the face . Mu Yunyao entered the Jin Wang residence very smoothly .
Jin Wang treated her very well . A day was better than all those other years . Even when she had lost her child, he still treated her the same as before . She stayed in the Jin Wang residence for three years . When First Sister entered the Jin Wang residence as the Princess Consort, she had made life very difficult for Mu Yunyao . But so what? No matter what she did, Mu Yunyao still lived on and lived very comfortably .
Until she met Yue Wang, who, before, had never returned to the capital . When she was on her way back from the temple, she had somehow scared the horses, causing her to fall onto the ground to land beside Yue Wang’s feet . Yue Wang had given her an extra glance, leading to Jin Wang sending Mu Yunyao to the Yue Wang residence as a plaything .

When Yue Wang had entered her room, she suddenly fainted . Once she came to, she realised that she was covered in blood and was being treated as a spy .
Spies never had a good ending, and her end just happened to be extra tragic……
