Chapter 10
There were already many villagers gathered outside the door who were trying to put out the fire . Upon seeing a few figures emerging from the fire, a few men quickly rushed towards them . They could not be bothered to think about the fact that males should keep a distance females . They grabbed Li Shi, Mu Yunyao and Su Qing and rushed out of the danger zone .
When the fresh air viciously attacked Mu Yunyao’s lungs, she choked and coughed . A woman swiftly passed her some water to drink, “Thank the Heavens, at least no one was hurt . ”
Mu Yunyao raised her head, tears were falling from her little face . Nevertheless, she broke into a grateful smile, “Thank you Auntie Yang . Grandma, Grandma she……”
(T/N: She says ‘Auntie’ or ‘Aunt’, but this Ms Yang is not related to her . It is a way to address elders . )
“Oh my gosh, your hand……” Yang Shi was given a fright . Mu Yunyao was famous for her perfect skin . Those white little hands of hers resembled that of snow . Who knew how many girls had envied her! But now, those hands were completely covered with blood, her palms were burned to the point that there was no doubt there would be permanent scarring .
Mu Yunyao’s forehead was completely covered with cold sweat, her clear eyes were filled with anxiousness, “When I was saving Grandma, I slightly burned myself . I’m alright, but Grandma’s leg is broken . When she wakes up, she will definitely beat me to death……”
Li Shi was infamous for her unreasonableness throughout the little mountain village . The villagers especially did not approve of her treatment towards Mu Yunyao and Su Qing, but after all, these were family matters, they had no right to interfere . Now, however, this little girl made such a great sacrifice to save Li Shi, if Li Shi was still not grateful, then it will be time for the villagers to teach her a lesson .
“Little Mu, be at ease, you saved your Grandma, how could she possibly beat you?”
Mu Yunyao was evidently not comforted . She carefully leaned into Su Qing’s side, curled up into a ball with her and stared blankly at the sea of flames .
Seeing their frail figures, the people who had rushed over to put out the fire shook their heads and sighed . These two were just too pitiful .
Mu Cheng was Shi An Village’s only literate person . He had a very warm and patient personality . He would usually help the villagers write letters and thus he was a very well-known person in the village . Even if there were some who were jealous of the fact that he managed to marry Su Qing, seeing his kind and warm smile, they really could not bring themselves to say anything bad about him .

The only bad thing about him was that he had a terrible mother . Li Shi was someone who could even fight with others for a mere chicken feather . Had it not been for her harsh and greedy personality, Mu Cheng would not have been forced to move far far away and his father would not have jumped into the well .
“Cough! You little wrench, you!” Li Shi had woken up . The moment she had opened her eyes, she immediately screamed at Mu Yunyao!
Mu Yunyao leaned even more into Su Qing with a shocked and frightened expression, “Grandma, are you alright?”
“You little wretch, it was you who did this to me! You even dare ask me whether I was alright? Ow…my leg……”
“Grandma, your leg was broken because the drawer fell on it, Mother and I only pushed it off you . If not for that, we could have long escaped from the fire . ”
“As if! You are the one who hurt me, it was you who broke my leg! You poisonous little wrench, when I am completely healed, I will definitely break your leg!”
Mu Yunyao could not help but cower under Li Shi’s murderous glare . As she leapt into Su Qing’s embrace, however, a cold light flashed across her eyes .
The surrounding villagers could stand it no longer .
“Old lady Li, we all witnessed little Yunyao save you, even her hands have been burnt badly . Do you not have a heart?”
“Hmph, ever since Mu Cheng’s death, you have been ill-treating this pitiful mother and daughter!”
“You……” Yang Shi was at a loss for words . She went up to pat Mu Yunyao on the back and said to Su Qing, “This house is gone . The both of you have nowhere to go, you should come stay at my house for the night . ”
“No,” Mu Yunyao raised her head, “Thank you very much for your kindness, Auntie Yang, but Grandma’s leg is broken, she needs someone to take care of her . For the time being, Mother and I will stay in Grandma’s house . ”
“But with that personality of hers……”Yang Shi did not complete her sentence, but the disgust on her face was sufficient .
“No matter, Grandma is unable to move for now, I must take care of her as her granddaughter . Otherwise, Father’s soul would be unable to rest in peace . ”
Mu Yunyao’s tone was extremely gentle . To add on the the kind words she had spoken, the villagers silently nodded their heads in approval . This girl was definitely raised by a scholar, with just her personality, people could not help but want to take care of her .
