Today’s objective: Learn Fuinjutsu.
Just as per my Sensei’s instructions, today, I, Inaba Shinkurou, greatest genius of Konoha and disciple of the Second Hokage, had set out on a mission that would help me become stronger.
Location: Tsunade’s home.
Which meant she’d obviously be joining me—though, let’s be honest, she definitely wouldn’t be there for learning Fuinjutsu. It would be something more along the lines of a study date with me.
Well, it doesn’t matter much anyway. Rather, it would be more fun if she joins...
And so, I reached the familiar estate of the Senju clan. The cool breeze with a fresh floral fragrance entered my nose—ahh, it’s still refreshing, no matter how many times I experience this.
Reaching the door of Grandma Mito’s home, I was about to knock on the sturdy door, which felt as if it was made straight out of Hashirama’s Mokuton.But Tsunade opened it before I could even knock.
"Inaba~ you’re late," she said with a bright smile and jumped at me.
I stepped in. "I am not late. You just got ready too early."
Her smile widened. "Of course, I was waiting for you."
Before I could reply, a laugh echoed from inside.
"Good grief. You two really are something. Come inside quickly, don’t just stand at the door," came Mito’s voice from deeper in the house.
We walked in to find her seated at a low table, already surrounded by sealing brushes, parchment, and an air of casual dominance that only an Uzumaki matriarch could pull off while sipping tea.
"Inaba, sit. Tsunade, if you’re going to cling to him the whole time, at least pretend to be interested," Mito said dryly.
Tsunade pouted and sat beside me. And then leaned into me. Subtly.
I sighed internally. ’This is going to be a long lesson... isn’t it?’
Mito smiled faintly. "Don’t worry. I won’t be boring you too much, but yes—you need to learn the basics and some special seals Tobirama specifically requested."
Then she uncapped her brush and pointed it at me. "Rule one of Fuinjutsu: If your handwriting looks like garbage, so will your seals. We start with calligraphy."
I nodded. Tsunade groaned.
And thus began the slow and painful path of writing the same symbol over and over again. Because, although I wouldn’t like to admit it, yes—my handwriting really did look like garbage...
Anyway, the symbols were not many, and it only took a few minutes. Basically like learning the alphabets. Then came the next part: explanations...
I enhanced my brain before Grandma Mito could start. Shit like explanations are not something the dumb me should have to deal with.
As Mito began explaining the logic behind how a seal captures chakra input and redirects it through modifier characters and stabilizer arrays, my brain started noticing something unfortunate.It started seeing every part of her lesson as... code.
Variables. Functions. Syntax trees.And my eye twitched.A deep-seated PTSD came forth once again, after years of absence...
’This... this is literally programming. Why does this feel like JavaScript?’
The longer I listened, the more the similarities stacked up. There were base symbols—primitives, basically—and "modifier runes," which were like functions. And stabilizer marks? Yeah, those were clearly the equivalent of error handling.
I wanted to scream.This was coding. Fuinjutsu was just goddamn chakra-coded programming written with a calligraphy pen.
’Am I really being haunted by my old job in this world too?’Ahh, fuck—those torturous lessons are coming back to mind... and my enhanced brain is certainly not helping...
Mito continued, unaware of my growing internal suffering. "Now, this basic containment seal works if you channel chakra from the left node here—"
I didn’t even hear the rest. My mind had already started disassembling the structure and mapping each character to a mental block diagram.I could see where the chakra flow would loop back, where it would crash, and what the failure points were. It was just like debugging.Exactly like debugging.Fuck.
’Of course. One of my most anticipated skills had to be the same as one of my most hated ones...’
Still, despite my hatred of the method, I couldn’t deny how fast I was learning. Brain enhancement + prior coding knowledge = horrifying Fuinjutsu processing speed.
So, I did what I did back in my past life when I got tired of memorizing codebases: I broke down the entire system.
Instead of memorizing prebuilt seals, I dissected each individual character. Each character had its role—and if you could learn it, you could create Fuinjutsu seals just like forming a sentence.
I learned everything about them in detail. How much chakra it could hold. What types of chakra it could redirect. What would happen if we tampered with preexisting seals a bit... You know, basic stuff like that...
Once I grasped each component, I could build instead of copy. And building was always more fun.Of course, this was due to the chakra-enhanced brain. Without it, I might have already stormed out of here...
About two hours later, Mito suddenly paused. She leaned forward and squinted at the sealing diagram I was building.
"...Inaba. Where did you get this?"
I looked up. "I just made it."
She blinked. "Made it? This isn’t from any scroll I gave you?"
"Nope. It’s a chakra suppression seal modified to scale with user reserves. It passively dampens leakage when not in combat. Might help genin with large chakra pools. Well, it’s pretty useless if you think about it, actually..."
Yeah, it really was useless...I mean, it helped reduce chakra leakage if you had excess of it—but anyone beyond basic genin can easily manage that, and genin have many things, but excess chakra is not one of them...
Mito stared at me for a full ten seconds before leaning back and sighing.
"You really are something else. First those A-rank jutsus of yours, now this. What are they feeding you kids at the Academy these days?"
Tsunade beamed. "He’s always ."
"Mm. That’s why I was looking forward to teaching him," Mito said with a smirk. "Even if he’s got the face of someone who’s absolutely hating it—but he really is a prodigy in Fuinjutsu..."
She narrowed her eyes. "Let me guess. You find Fuinjutsu boring, but have to master it because it would be useful?"
I forced a laugh. "Something like that."
"Poor boy," she said with mock sympathy. "You’ll fit right in with about 90% of Fuinjutsu masters. Everyone finds it boring."
Yeah yeah...But jokes aside, I think I can cook some unexplainable bullshit with Fuinjutsu , thanks to brain enhancement.
Anyway, I just need to make it work, not understand it, because, everyone knows—
If a code is working, don’t touch it.
